Starting tonight at 7 p.m. ET join us here for the AC360° Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, the debate over Best Supporting Kardashian…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
What makes me qualified to lead this live blog? Well, I once worked at a video store/tanning parlor. And I own Fletch on VHS.
If you would like to participate in our Live Blog (and we hope you do) please follow our rules.
Here are some of them:
1) Please keep your comments short
2) Don’t write in ALL CAPS (we don’t like screaming)
3) No links
4) Use your real name
Please note that due to volume we may not be able to post all comments.

I just had the best 10 minute nap.... now what's going on???
They also forgot Bea Arthur
I hav'nt seen any of these movies
They're really cutting these last few awards close–and these are some of the most exciting awards of the night!
They forgot Bea Arthur too, unless they showed her on their screens while television viewers were watching J. Taylor.
i am apparabtly the only one who hasn't seen nor has any desire to see Avatar
@Jack: It's Kathy! Maybe this is your moment. She looks ready to flash.
Flash us Kathy!
I didn't see Paul Newman either. Didn't he die in the past year?
@Sarah: All of those things bugged me too. Edward Scissorhands is a really sweet movie–not scary at all.
So what's left?
@jack Oh, good. I know I love him AND his sense of humor among other things~ ahem
My box of wine is down to its last dregs. This thing better be over quick or there's gonna be trouble. And by "trouble" I mean "crying".
@Jack!
You are absolutely right! I agree with you!!!! Thanks Roger Ebert tweeted already!!! Oscars forgot Farrah Fawcett!
@Betty Ann: Clooney is just joking. He has a very good sense of humor and it's just a running gag. He's not angry, I'm sure of it.
@jack why is George freaking when the camera is on him? Hmm
@JACK...maybe they were slamming Sea World. When the guy popped out that board that said "TEXT DOLPHIN 2222" they camera immediately shot away and cut them off on the mic too and did not return until they were walking off stage. Someone came on stage to escort them away also. Maybe they are really trying to cut out people using the stage for political stuff.
I'm absolutely thrilled that The Cove just won the Oscar for best documentary. This is a horrific story about dolphin slaughter that needs to be told. And hopefully this win will help tell it.
I think they may have forgotten more than Farrah–it seemed oddly short for a year that seemed to have many deaths...
Two great directors !!!!!
oscars are pretty awesome, except for the dancing i had to witness. i did not need to see that. so boring.
Do we REALLY need hosts for the Oscars? They've hardly been on.. and when they have been, I have been terribly disappointed and bored. They are NOT funny... even George Clooney couldn't give them a smile or a laugh!
I'm so bored. First they call Edward Scissorhands a horror movie, then they forget Farrah Fawcett in their obits, then they even have Elizabeth Banks walking out to the E.T. theme (she wasn't in the movie). Is it over yet? @Jack I wish I had a cute dog like yours to entertain me since clearly the oscars aren't.
Ugh...I think all the men in Hollywood should shave...if that nasty beard looks hideous on Brad Pitt it looks hideous on YOU too.
Who else is hoping for another interpretive dance number?!
Ok. Going to bed. This is worse than a pledge campaign from PBS. Good luck Meryl, good luck Sandra!
They forgot Farrah!
@Jack: Argh, to clarify, Roger Ebert tweeted that they didn't include her.
I dont understand why Nicole Richie is there... I dont understand why Jennifer Lopez had to present... the Oscars is about A-List movie stars... just sayin...
and oh! LXD did a pretty good job.. props to Mr. Jon M Chu..
Has anyone noticed how unhappy George is when the camera's get close? Weird
Thank you Monique for keeping it real. Tres boring. Farrah OMG
There's been an alarming lack of Kardashians tonight. The only thing that can save this ceremony is a cameo by Bruce Jenner's track suit.
@Jack Gray
Farrah Fawcett...You're right! Large fault!!
Where was Farrah Fawcett in the memoriam section??
Oscar prediction scoreboard so far: 17 right, 2 wrong. C'mon Academy give me some upsets!
Peter,
Yes, They already forgot Farrah Fawcett!!!! Big mistake for Oscars!!!!
There should really be a Most Relevant Work of the Year award. And it should go to The Hurt Locker, Up in the Air, or manufacturers of 3D glasses.
Probably not, we missed a dozen people while they were showing us James Taylor. At least I hope that is what happened with her.
It's 11:10 and we still have at least 4 big awards to go! Oy vey!
Thank Jack for hosting the live blog! Dissappointed they forgot Farrah Fawcett.
So glad The Cove won and Avatar is taking a lot of awards. I loved it!
@Jack: Roger Ebert tweeted that they didn't.
@Jack, I said the same thing. Where was Farrah?
I'm not as down on tonight's show as much as everyone else–but it definitely needs to be studied as what not to do next year. (Let people speak–do not educate us on each non-exciting category, sing the nominated songs, start with the close up on the people who have passed (2nd year in a row they messed that up), have the hosts on bit more–but let them be unscripted....
Yes they snubbed Farrah! That's gotta be a notch off the getting into heaven list for SOMEONE lol
I think my dog fell asleep with her eyes open.
The more of these technical awards The Hurt Locker is winning, the better I feel about choosing it for best director and best picture.
Have the Oscars started yet?
Where The Hurt Locker is competing with Avatar, it is winning!
I was not expecting this, but I like it!
The Cove looked intense!!
Sam Raimi gets a shout out. Was Army of Dead even shown during the horror films montage?
so did they really forget to include Farrah Fawcett in the obit memorial?
