@JackGrayCNN
AC360° Producer/Writer
Starting tonight at 7 p.m. ET join us here for the AC360° Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, the debate over Best Supporting Kardashian…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
What makes me qualified to lead this live blog? Well, I once worked at a video store/tanning parlor. And I own Fletch on VHS.
If you would like to participate in our Live Blog (and we hope you do) please follow our rules.
Here are some of them:
1) Please keep your comments short
2) Don’t write in ALL CAPS (we don’t like screaming)
3) No links
4) Use your real name
Please note that due to volume we may not be able to post all comments.

Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.

Hans Zimmer's Sherlock Holmes OST BETTER WIN THIS THING. Or Academy? We are done, professionally.
(I can still use that joke because everything comes to Canada a little late.)
yup yup nice tribute with Taylor singing...see them dancing now..time tomake a fresh coffee...pre-fossil getting tired this way..
Wonderful seeing the SYTYCD dancers again. Or the vague shapes of them, anyway.
i just made myself a fresh pot of coffee..... (yawn.....)
A different genre,but very nice. I like it.Soothing.
@Jack Gray - 2010 Oscars – by and large, Snoozapoolsa. Only blogging here and on Twitter is making it worthwhile. But then again, I love snark...so...
If I didn't have money riding on this–I'd be turning the channel. What a drag. Who is hosting this show again? There are 2 of them, yet they only have 1/2 the screen time as previous hosts??
@Stacy...I agree.
@Jack: Do you have a color preference?
Jenny needs to go back to the block. Indefinitely.
why is JLo on stage? i still dont get this.
what is up with jalo's hair 🙁
@JackGrayCNN You keep saying that the Oscars are really boring – if you could script an Oscars night, what spectacular and exciting things would you have in it? Or to put it plainly, what to you, would make the Oscars exciting?
@Bonnie I don't think it is awkward for Mrs. Cameron. Bigelow and he were only married for two years 20 years ago and are close friends.
There is old fashioned Our gang quality this time and it seems they are
going after the over 50 demo. The girls are pretty yet nothing to exciting.
where can i get that song???
does anyone have some paint drying? maybe we can live blog that.
@ jack– is your dog still up or did he go to sleep?
To many commercials.........Goodevening.
Are we there yet?
I like how this year when they showed those that have passed they showed clips of their movies underneath. Most of the time no one knows who these people are and like this we can see which movies they go with.
Nice tribute, as always. James Taylor, FTW.
Sandra Bullock & Sarah Jessica Parker, are the two best dressed of the night!
Kathy Bates' Breasts or not I can't take it anymore I am bowing out, great blog Jack thank you!
OMG James Taylor with my favorite Beatles song "In My Life"...
@Mark: the video store/tanning parlor was known for its poor quality body lotions and poorer quality adult films.
Can people not hold their applause until the end of the memorial section? Seems crass to clap more for some than others (or not clap at all).
Is anyone else enjoying the wonderful background music?
I'm not a fan of Demi but she looked pretty...why wasn't she on stage with for the Hughs honor?
Demi Moore looks great!
Do you think it's awkward for the current Mrs. Cameron to be sitting behind one of the ex Mrs. Cameron's?
yikes...Ghost music is getting me teary...departed montage time
I'm soooo disappointed that all the Women have the same ""greasy"" looking hair...count them...most all have the part and tucked behind the ears with some yucky gel!!!
was A Single Man not even nominated for Cinematography? or did I doze off? it was beautifully shot.
Jack- tell us more about this video/tanning parlor situation
I think the only way this broadcast could get worse is if the cast of Jersey Shore were to make an appearance.
Sandra Bullock: the prettiest dress of the night!
tempted to run to starbucks and get me a double shot of macchiato...
The Silence of the Lambs and Misery are my second and third favorite movie of all time, behind The Sound of Music ~~
wonder if Brad Renfroe will be mentioned in this year's "departed montage"...he didn't make the cut last year....apparently he died too late to be included. sad.
still waiting for Jack Nicholson to make an appearance.... I'm hopeful
They are not performing the nominated songs we are hardly seeing steve
and alec and the actors are only on for a 45 sec acceptance speech Wgy does it feel like it is going on forever???? Commmercials?????
if Kathy Bates doesn't flash the crowd by 10:45, I'm going to fall asleep.
SO happy they recognized horror movies, and I'm also glad Mo'nique won!
Why dont they give more time for the award winner speeches. The producers are so rude.
Yay tech people! You almost got three seconds on screen!
That's classic! John Travolta looked like he was wearing jeans
Love that Jeremy Renner looks so emotional
The Hurt Locker is making history on Oscar night!
Sound guys get my vote for most gracious! Short to the point speeches.
