Starting tonight at 7 p.m. ET join us here for the AC360° Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, the debate over Best Supporting Kardashian…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
What makes me qualified to lead this live blog? Well, I once worked at a video store/tanning parlor. And I own Fletch on VHS.
If you would like to participate in our Live Blog (and we hope you do) please follow our rules.
Here are some of them:
1) Please keep your comments short
2) Don’t write in ALL CAPS (we don’t like screaming)
3) No links
4) Use your real name
Please note that due to volume we may not be able to post all comments.

Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.

Man...you are lucky you got to GO to the kodak theater. That would be so awesome.
Gol darn, it was hard to hear him receive that award for Logorama–I have a lobby filled with guests watching the show. It sounded very cool (and the movie looks really cool).
Logorama is very cool!!!!!!! 🙂
never ceases to amaze me how nice the Kodak Theater looks on TV. I was on that stage once...it was grand, for sure, but not nearly as beautiful as it looks tonight. then again, I'm no Sandra Bullock. Despite the fact that we're wearing the same outfit.
Why is this the first I've heard of Logorama? I'm going to open a short-film theatre.
Also, the director says "sorry about the accent" as if he doesn't know that Americans love him MORE for it.
Ferris Bueller, simply haunts my movie watching history...one of the great films of all time.
Zoe Saldana: what dress is that?
Half to up is beautiful, but the skirt .... awful!
I love Carey Mulligan's gown. She was great in "An Education" but I think Sandra Bullock will win the Best Actress Oscar.
Hey Jack!
I've got Simple Minds stuck in my head now. Thanks Academy.
I agree Jack@CNN...Taylor L. And Kristen S. weren't even born when Hughs' movies were out! They had no clue what was going on.
What happened to Judd Nelson?!?
That purple feathery dress is weird
Can anyone explain what happened to Judd Nelson?
Boring production!
Zoe Saldano has the worse dress...hands down...It's like Bjork's swan dress from a few years back threw that up
Okay, showing my age, but I would fall on my buns walking in those shoes. The heels are just as tall as I am!
Zoe you had me at Hello but lost me at the shoes!!!
Somebody please pass the chocolate over here to MI. I ate all the popcorn. 🙂 Did Sammy drink all the wine again?! Good thing she's cute. I would be bummed if UP won best movie.
yeah..I agree with Aley.. A lot of film gods have died.
@Jack Gray I'm sure the only person they recognized on the stage was Macauly Culkin
I love Molly's red hair!
Great John Hughes Tribute. Well deserved. Loved seeing the old clips. His movies are timeless, my kids who are 14 now enjoy watching them.
John Hughes... very exciting! pretty Tribute!
Where was Andrew McCarthy???
The saddest thing about watching tonight is to realize how many wonderful artists have passed onto the next realm.....
Why did no one stand up for the John Hughes tribute????!!!!
Awesome tribute to John Hughes!
I was stuck during that montage that Kristen Stewart reminds me of a young Ally Sheedy. And then they cut to Kristen at the end of that. Weird.
Wow..thanks for making me miss John Hughes even more Academy. Nothing like crying through the Oscars!
Hughes was great – but this send up just seems like a way to remind us all that the brat pack actors are still alive . . . and for hire.
Samuel Jackson is one very very cool dude!
why would they cut to a reaction shot of Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner after the John Hughes tribute? they had no idea what was going on.
Really nice tribute to John Hughes.
GREAT tribute to John Hughes! Loving it.
liked this segment... tribute to John Hughes....
This John Highes tribute is well deserved and overdue.
So 80 this clip!! I missed it !!!!!
The Breakfast Club is one of my FAVORITE movies EVER! The Brat Pack STILL rules to me!
love my old school movies..... the breakfast club was/is the best! I may need to purchase that one!
Great tribute. Aw, I'm getting all nostalgic.
Can all of the critics get off their high horse and just admit Avatar was a phenomenal movie. With the effects and visuals, it was mindblowing.
I have seen every single one of these John Hughes Movies...either i am sad, or i know true art when i see it
John Hughes tribute: best use of air time so far.
Ferris Bueller's day off is the movie for those moments of sadness or depression.
It makes one feel happy and feel good!
This year there is a wonderful group of films. I must agree however that Hurt Locker is the most special film, and Renner, and Bigelow are wonderful!
Salute to Hughes brings me back...love the memories
Planes, trains and automobiles...great movie
yes he is:-)
Hey these are our gen movies! I miss being a teenager. I actually had fun!
well-deserved tribute for John Hughes. so many great movies. too many to list.
Ah, Matthew Broderick, I like you all over again.
