    I like the romantic comedy. When I go to a movie I don’t want to leave feeling sad.

    Correct this time.

    District 9 was strange. I'm surprised it got nominated.

    Kelly is staying home with the kids. I saw Precious and it is a must see! Hard to watch, but darn it, it's great. It's better than Avatar because it is based on the real earth, IMO.

    Kelly Ripa is too funny!

    OMG, that was funny.

    Gain weight, go ugly, get an accent, an addiction, and die ...but only on screen.

    That is a trainwreck...no wonder it wins the Oscar.

    @Emily, it's true Avatar has a pretty stereotypical story. Some vampire space monkeys would help.

    It's a lot like politics, it sometimes depends on how much money you have to campaign for your film and how many big ads you can put in Variety.

    I'm not so sure about this analysis. It may be pointing out some circumstantial evidence, but actors still have to act! Bad actors can gain weight and adopt accents but they won't win a thing.

    Julie & Julia is a rare example that I liked the movie more than the book!

    @Isabel,
    I agree with you, Hope Avatar will be winner in the year!

    About the scandal at the Vatican, I agree and I think that all these things wrong and distorted against of what the church says, should be made public and punished!

    Dinosaurs were not meant to be on the earth for long. They were only to be in existence long enough to breathe up the mass of gas that was on earth.

    @Isabel & Mike,

    I think that I'm one of the few out here that has not seen Avatar!
    I've heard very mixed reviews about it. Nearly everyone looks the effects, etc. One the other hand, most say that the story is Very lacking!!!

    What are your thoughts on that?

    March 5, 2010 at 10:44 pm |
  19. Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio

    I love the movies, but unfortunately, the secrets to winning an Oscar usually have little to do with talent, it is all political. It is about who you know and who knows you.

    March 5, 2010 at 10:43 pm |
  20. A. Smith, Oregon

    And the Oscar for Best Director goes to...Kathryn Bigelow! The big question, will Hurt Locker beat out Avatar for Best Picture? I'm rooting for 'The Hurt Locker'.

    March 5, 2010 at 10:43 pm |
  21. Emily

    @Jo Ann,

    "Remember Pope Alexander VI (Alexander Borgia)?"

    That is correct! I had forgotten about, until you had just brought it up.

    Pope Alexander VI was really 'something'!
    The entire Borgia was really interesting.
    For it to be happening again at The Vatican, just sick!

    Why do we release sex offenders back into society so that they can commit additional acts of violence against children? We should not be so forgiving when it comes to these kinds of crimes. Hey, but as long as we're still putting people in prison for growing pot, I'm sure we'll be fine.

    AVATAR 3D – I saw once and I also want to review, possibly next Monday I'll have off.

    I think that Avatar will be the winner of the night.

    Ed Smart sounds like he has obtained and learned some really good life skills in dealing with his own daughters abduction. Kudo's to the AC360 staff for bringing him on the show tonight.

    @Emily,
    I agree, Jaycee Dugard is doing good along her mom & family, including half sister.

    I can appreciate special effects, but I would rather see a great story with great actors instead. Sometimes special effects distract from the story, or sometimes they are used to make up for an uninteresting plot and bad acting.

    Jaycee looks great. I'm so happy for her and her family. I wish them well.

    Why isn't there criminal or at least hard-core civil court monetary charges against the parole, social services or police officers that reportedly came to that address on several occasions and didn't even look in the backyard.

    @Starr, I saw your post to Mike, so my comment is maybe in error.

    I was wondering what the Pentagon shooting suspect was doing on a daily basis.

    A shocking scandal at the Vatican, prostitution though described sometimes as a victimless crime is harmful and destructive.

    Hi Brianna.

    You are right about your suggestions to the Catholic church. Women and married priests could normalize things.

    The asteroid was supposedly 7 1/2 miles wide when it hit the ground wasn't it? It would have been much larger when it entered the earths atmosphere, perhaps 10 miles or larger? The fragments known as Tektites are found all over the world in the ancient seam of earth from that time.

    I'm with Kelly. I haven't seen Avatar. My teenagers said it was great. However, I did see Up in the Air. I thought George Clooney was going to find love, but the movie just ended sad.

    @Emily, "Geez, more sex scandals, and now they have reached the Vatican! This is sickening!!!! ;("

    This is not the first time there has been scandel within the Vatican. Remember Pope Alexander VI (Alexander Borgia)?

    I agree, It is best way to call police right away to catch bad guys or gals. I think viewer is right thing to call so immedately! And I agree all of you! 🙂

    What! Sex ring attached to the Vatican? This story is a head-shaker. I guess that usher will be stepping down now, right? I wonder if this Pope will apologize to the worldwide church or not?

  48. Isabel Siaba

    This is absurd and shameful! Disgusting!
    A elite assistant of the Pope when Holiness receive important visitors.

    People who work in the Church must understand that they are not above everyone and everything!
