Watching Gary Tuchman's report last night and again today, it appears that vigilante help is what is required in situations such as these. The seniors featured in Mr. Tuchman's story are exactly like the children victims – utterly and hopelessly helpless. As most would not desert a child in need, neither can we overlook these seniors.

Other than donate money, as I did and do religiously to Doctors Without Borders, what can the average citizen in the US do to help, specifically, the seniors at this nursing home? These seniors are as "trapped" as the people beneath the ruble. The difference is, they are in plain sight.

I think that this was the saddest story that I've seen! It's a shame that these older people are just being left out in the open with no food or supplies. I can't believe that no one has even came to check on them in 8 days!! How ridiculous is that!? And they say things are getting better there? I can't see it! I'm sure these people here won't see that as true either.
