We have breaking news on the security failure at Newark Liberty International Airport over the weekend. It's new evidence the system set up to keep us all safe when we fly simply does not work. Plus, Pres. Obama blasts the intelligence community for failures linked the attempted Christmas Day bombing on a U.S. airliner.

Yikes, Anderson looks like he found full speed on the Segway run thru! All that is needed are the blue lights and siren.

what that lady just said is interesting. so if it is the "job" of others to make the president "look good", then it would be just as easy to have "insiders" make the president look bad, if that was their objective. all of this works both ways.

These radicals put more value on death than life. This is the difference
between their society and ours and we must recognize this fact.

Frances makes a lot of good points and Sally really compliments the topic with excellent, on the point answers to really difficult questions. Kudos to both of these ladies Anderson, and to the CNN AC360 Staff for providing such informed individuals.

The Obama White House state dinners; Everybody's welcome. Pick an event and just show up! No invitation necessary!!!

come on !!! If the president wants to take a vacation he should do so at the end of his term or just step aside right now and let someone else run this country. The president must dedicate all of his time to this job – period !!

No one wants to take responsibility for anything anymore....
    it's always someone else fault!

I feel very safe even though people have crashed the White House state dinner. I highly doubt anyone is going to break into my apartment for a photo op they can blog about.

I think he should have been fired for taking the blame!

Is anyone going to be arrested for crashing in to the White House?! I mean, seriously! Who´s behind these guys?! They are obviously extremely well connected. Who´s responsible for this mess and why aren´t these people held accountable?

What is the White House doing differently now to make sure that couples don't crash their parties?

    January 5, 2010 at 10:42 pm |
  13. Anthonia-Bay Area!

The W.H Breach scandal happened only by people who had connections. Therefore they were able to get into the party.

And I agree that the secret police should be held responsible for this breach because they were not doing their job properly!

Maybe our security systems need to be completely revamped. We have terrorists still getting aboard our airplanes AND we have uninvited guests walking into the White House. Good grief, what’s next?

    January 5, 2010 at 10:41 pm |
  15. Mike, formerly from Syracuse

The social secretary was at the party rather than at the door doing her job.

"It’s just sickening to know children are being trained as suicide bombers."

so true, ...they don't have a voice for themselves! They should not be used as pawns! Very sad.

We SHOULD NOT plea with terrorists! The underwear bomber should be treated as an enemy combatant and tortured if need me.

On top of evey other security failure, i am Stunned that the cameras at Newark Airport are NOT working.

AND, another break through in White House security goes beyond disappointing- What is going on with our security assests in this country?!

White House crashers to terror attacks, and no one held responsible or fired.

Allen, the other gate crasher looks like he is wearing some Kevlar under his jacket. I assume no one searched these individuals other than with a metal detector.

Are these party crashers, are they a part of the "beautiful people" that were kicked out of the club?

    January 5, 2010 at 10:38 pm |

These thrill seekers crashing white house parties need locked up.

    January 5, 2010 at 10:38 pm |

those 'not working' cameras just seem a little too convenient - perhaps it was a planned decoy, and someone was trying to smuggle guns or drugs or something and used the not-filmed guy as a diversion. just a thought.

    January 5, 2010 at 10:37 pm |
  31. Lori

I agree with you Cynthia. Kids should not be used for such a heinous purpose.

Something is very wrong when you have a Supervisor riding a Segway past the employees looking to see if you are doing your job or not. I'd be working on my resume!

A great panel discussion. Glad David Gergen noted Stephen Flynn's pt about taking a deep breath. Also thought Stephen Flynn's about resilience is essential. This is a wake up call to how all the red flag alerts are handled, as David Gergen says.

Don't enemy combatants have rights as regards interrogation? Yes they do. The comparision to Richard Reed is to the pt. Also AbdulMutallab is a very young man whose family came forward out of concern, this is a different situation than a hardened terrorist. Seems like they're already getting a good stream of info from AbdulMutallab.

That McDonald's "event" isn't really vandalism is it? Isn't it destruction of private property (or just plain aggressive behavior)? Time for some progesterone!

i'd read about casey johnson earlier - it should serve as a reminder that peace and happiness comes from the inside - everything else is just a bonus in life - prayers to her family

I think this was a wake up call. It's been 9 years since the 9/11 attacks and our security has susided a bit, which is the window the terrorists are looking for. In order to prevent future disaster, we must act offensively and not wait until another incident. President Obama is the Commander of chief, but one man cannot stop these attacks from happening. It must be come from all form of government

    January 5, 2010 at 10:31 pm |
  49. Mike, formerly from Syracuse

Who is the new heir or heiress of the Johnson & Johnson fortune now? Maybe they should investigate motives.

    Suicide bombers of Pakistan!
This issue is not that plain as it appears....one has to know who is financing these schools? The rumour has it that it is the Wahabi brand of Saudi Arabia. So until you stop the flow of maney to these madrasas and start development aid to these destitute children, they will be victims of such twisted brand of Islam.....
