We have breaking news on the security failure at Newark Liberty International Airport over the weekend. It's new evidence the system set up to keep us all safe when we fly simply does not work. Plus, Pres. Obama blasts the intelligence community for failures linked the attempted Christmas Day bombing on a U.S. airliner.

Just the fact that they have schools to indoctrinate their children with hate and intolerance against anyone who is not a Muslim tells you that these people cannot be reasoned with. Obama doesn't seem to understand that and he is putting this country in even more danger than it already is.

These children don't stand a chance in life....no help from their parents that send there from for the 'food', and the brain washing that they undergo!

Just how many children go to that school?

Why are the Real Follower of Islam NOT stopping it?!

They say in Islam that suicide is a sin too.....

It's hard to combat this kind of early indoctrination that these kids receive. It seems it will take constant diligence on our part to keep another generation of these people from acting against us in these ways.

No one should be surprised about the Taliban school. It is not different than Catholic school, or any other religious school, it's ust the direction that these children are given about blowing themselves up is not in any other curriculum that we are familiar with.

Those children are totally obedient to the extreme. It is very troubling.

I would think if drugs didn't kill Tracy Johnson then complications from being on them did.

thank you for this conversation--this failure is an outrage after the 911 attack. Janet Napolitano needs to find another job. Come on people-to their credit-Nordstrom or Amazon knows who I am, what I ordered, what I like etc--maybe the TSA could look into their data access.......

    Regarding security:
In my parents generation the culture was unforgiving leading to people being on their toes and less mistakes were made. This is the climate that made America what it is today.

It’s just sickening to know children are being trained as suicide bombers.

How are children brain washed? That's when you do it, get them when they are young. I thought the Koran preached against killing of innocents? That shows these people are not really religious, just sick murderers. When they call out Allahs name it is really a call to the devil.

That is so horrible children killed by bombing in school..... I don't like what Terrorists are doing making bombing to innocent children..... It is so sad to see this. 🙁

Where do these people get the materials for bombs as well as weapons? Does the world need to sever access to these resources?

Hi AC, EH and AC360 co.

Just a random observation that, both of the X'mas bomber and the Salahis had seen and abused the loopholes of the securtiy check point over festival times.

Yes, Lori....young minds are manipulated all the time, aren't they? When we approve the message, we call it 'educating' them! And when we don't, it's 'brainwashing'!!

I'm a weekly business traveler – today my hands were swiped – I assume for explosive residue. BUT – only because I get wanded due to my titanium hip. Shouldn't the agent posted at the magnetometer be swiping everyone's hands?

I don't believe the underwear bomber set off the metal detectors.......

Indeed, Muslim madrassa's are very troubling. Nazi youth 3rd. generation of indoctrination. Apparently extremely effective also.

What happened to buying a one way ticket especially with cash, that the person should be checked by security?
That was the basic and first thing that should have been done.
I agree organizations need to talk to each other and share information quickly, but if the 1st step of a one way ticket rule, could have stopped this scare from the beginning.

OK, so tell me how different is this "brainwashing" these young children are receiving from what they're forced to learn in any church on any Sunday? How can we be critical of this behavior when our culture practices the same thing?

Double-agents make it so hard on others....but they are a fact of life, I'm afraid. We all know them, in some version.

The systematic indoctrination of children shows that this 'movement' isn't just the acts of a few radicals, but a mainstream way of life. Islam has always expanded by the sword from first days until now.

The heads of the different intel agencies are more interested in creating their own powerbase than they are in performing a service.
When the agencies fail to share information we have problems.
When this happens, put the agency heads in jail immediately for 10 years or more. See if that convinces their replacements to be more willing to share information.

    @Mike, formerly from Syracuse,

"I think what we are seeing is an Administration full of idealists who think that by being nice guys we will get the same in return. They are naive to a dangerous real world."

This administration is living in fantasyland, I just hope none of my friends or relatives become victims of their naivete.

There are so many Muslim madrassa's, are we to believe there are only a small handful training children to be faithful Muslims that will totally obey the Muslim Ayatollahs and Clerics orders?

The Jordanian Doctor likely worked in one of the CIA secret prisons in Jordan as a doctor that overlooked their prisoners and was recruited by the CIA as a field agent there.

This double-agent that murder the CIA agents is really disturbing...
What a dangerous job they have.

So true, Charlie. When we are panicky, shrill, 'hang 'em high', want people strung up and 'heads to roll' in our fear....then terrorism is working.

Perhaps President Obama will ask for some resignations AFTER he receives the reports he just asked for in your video. I'd rather he not be hasty for show.

Talk is not important. That's just plolitics. What's important is taking action to keep the public safe, and it seems that President Obama is doing that, although admittedly a little too slowly.

@Char, the captain of a ship is responsible for everything that happens on the ship. If the ship runs aground, he's responsible even if he's asleep at the time. The rationale is that it was his job to make sure the crew was trained and capable of doing their jobs. Obama is responsible for his 'crew', those who failed in this case.

Ron Christie is right, these terrorists do not deserve the same rights as American citizens.

I disagree with Stephen Flynn, terrorism has its own internal motivation. They will find a reason no matter what we do or do not do.

    January 5, 2010 at 10:23 pm |

Oh yes and the terrorists have won this round. We have been talking about this since Christmas Eve 24/7. And yes the American people are totally stressed now. This is just what the terriists want.

I trust our President. He thinks before he reacts, and when he reacts it is for the best interest of the American people. I can truly say that this President is working hard for the United States. Keep it moving forward Mr. President!!

how can i trust this administration in protecting us from terrorists when they can't even prevent uninvited people crashing their parties? boy! i should really feel lucky living in Jersey City using Newark Airport for my travel at a time like this!....seems like moving in the White House isn't an option either.

    January 5, 2010 at 10:22 pm |

The President and the media must inform us before something horrific does happen! Americans can never relive another 9/11 -–
Our psyche would be effected for decades!

I'm not going to worry too much about all this stuff. I just get on the plane and go! I can not let this jerks get me down! I go back to my Catholic roots, 3 Our Father's and 3 Hail Mary's and off I go!

What an oxymoron – collecting intellegence and airport security. It lacks uniform standards, and this little test on Christmas could have been much worse.

Cameras not working...someone made a bean counter decision...

at a very wrong time......and got caught.... camera should have been fixed but they probably told the "contractor" he wasnt needed but once a week ....ha!

    Good point Begala!

So if we treat the underwear bomber as an enemy combatant what do we get? The right to have an advantage in military court and the right to torture him?

Do we need an advantage to prosecute him in court with 200+ eyewitnesses on the plane and the bomber's own confession??

Blah, blah, blah-mute legal points. Any good defense atty. is going to seek a plea bargain. It doesn't mean he'll get one!

Stephern Flynn got it exactly right. Over reaction is exactly what multiplies the effect of terrorist acts. The US is falling into exactly the standard terrosists traps. Even when no-one was seriosuly hurt.
