Who dropped the ball in the Maurice Clemmons case? He's the man who shot and killed four cops in Washington State over the weekend. There is new evidence tonight that Washington state tried to keep Clemmons behind bars. But they ran into resistance from Arkansas. We're keeping them honest.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.
Here are some of them:
1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)
Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.

@Emily, agreed.
Yes, I wondered about that Anderson, cause I was confused by Lisa Bloom's comment.
Yes Amanda Knox's case would be complicated, multiple suspects.
Although, ironically, shaking hands with someone who has just freshly washed them should be a germophobe's greatest comfort. Thank you Anderson for that bit of holiday/green room silliness.
Oh way to get with the program Erica. Reese's pieces would probably bring back a lot of good feelings for extraterrestrial visitors.
Good night Anderson, Erica, Goodnight Isabel, Good night Starr, good night everyone.
Goodnight all you lovely bloggers & hosts:)
I enjoyed your show tonight, Anderson! You and the 360 staff did a wonderful job!

Good Night Everyone! Sleep Well!
All of our prisons are overcrowded causing many prisoners to be released early to make room for new inmates and then a large number of these resume their life of crime.
sexting? guess nothing is left to the imagination anymore.
@starr, formerly known as vincent,
I don't know if I believe that!
It may have been true in that past Administration....not alot of countries were happy with the Bush Admin, yet that does not go over to the American People....
towns are not so "small" anymore with the internet, etc.
fist-bump with howie - cool! he gets a lot of credit for doing hosting and book signings and such - congrats on his book
Great Shot! Erica is right, it is apparently NOT easy being Anderson Cooper.(smile)
But we (family & friends) Love Ya!
This was SO funny!
Anderson, you are Funny! I'd shake your hand! 😛
Yes, Anderson. The MENUDO. Back in the days when the Menudo were traveling, and made their way to the Philippines..I can proudly say that I was once a Menudo back -up dancer! Yes! Ricky Martin- before he was Livin' La Vida Loca 🙂 Hahahahahaaaa....
What responsibility falls on the White House Chief Usher? Who vets these people?
@Emily, apparently they are not too fond of Americans, or so the reports say. Also, the trial is in a small town too.
Awww, you look SO cute with both Erica & Kelly Anderson! 😀
sexting, did anderson just invent that? LOL
@starr, formerly known as vincent,
What is the Italy mood towards Americans? :0
She looks so sweet & innocent, but her smiles & smirks might not go over well with the jury, especially since it seems they're out to get her
oops The parents DO NOT think she did it (typo on my part)
Why would the Italians go after an American?
What do they have against Americans?
If there was No evidence against her, and it's just because she is American, that is very weak!
If there is No evidence, then she will be found Not Guilty!
Cooper, Hill, Gergen, Toobin and Bloom! Tonight? WOW! 🙂
From what i have heard, this young lady could be in very big trouble.
I've seen some reports on this case and her parents certainly believe she did it. I don't know the evidence.
She could very easily be convicted given given the stated mood of Italy towards Americans.
What! Did that Lawyer say that they would Not be there is she was not an American and pretty?
What about the fact that a girls' is dead and her throat was slit?!
what can you say about this case, except to hope she is convicted if guilty, and not if she is innocent.
@Mike, formerly from Syracuse,
I thought that Desiree Rogers stepped down!
Did I miss something?
The social secretary should not have to testify because she did nothing wrong. If the secret service cannot read a list of names then President Obama should consider hiring his own private security. For whatever reason, perhaps to make this a bigger news story than it already is, the new stations have been trying to blame this on Desiree Robinson. Her title is social secretary, not head of security.
Lovely WH Christmas tree, heard a bit of Cheryl Crow's song from the lighting ceremony. Very nice. Almost like being there.
Desiree Rogers should have said "No" from the beginning rather than leading the Salahis on.
This is sick!
Amanda Knox story sounds sick!
I think I saw the Salahi's show up in my virtual cafe and they aren't even on my friends list! Well I guess thank you to facebook for giving our nations security for the president the intel.
If this White House wants to show accountability, Desiree Rogers has to be fired. This is a no brainer.
Isnt it that IT IS the Desiree Roger's job to make sure that the right people gets invited to WH functions and double check who's in /out?... then give the list to the Secret Service agents? Therefore, she is responsible for finalizing the list. The agents messed up too, SO yeah, they all need to step up and take responsibility!
@David, Indiana,
David Gergen always givens great insights, as he is has a perspective on both political parties!
Always interesting to hear, read what he has to say! 🙂
@Erica- i was hoping you were getting Your Own show.....but then we want you here with us too.
How could the Salahi discovery be made through Facebook? The Salahis have never said that they weren't invited.
This would be a good issue to investigate to keep 'em honest.
@Erica Hill,
FACEBOOK is something that is going to come back to haunt so many people! The things that are posted on it, etc.
It's a way to find out so much! You never know who is on it or what they will find. Many people looking for jobs are finding this out.
@Emily, sounds like with the interstate compacts interstate communcation is inherently present. Could always be better.
David Gergen giving very good background on WH aides testifying before congress.
I thought you reported previously that Ms Salahi was indeed a Redskins cheerleader? So that's not true?
Go shake your pom-poms somewhere else!
Why is Barack Obama protecting this social secretary? I can understand using executive privilege when talking about high level White House staffers who the President needs to be able to confide in with confidence, but a social secretary? this seems to be more about Barack Obama protecting one of his Chicago gang. I am wondering what in the world Desiree Rogers was doing in the role of a guest at this state dinner, when she should have been working the event from behind the scenes. What is up with this woman? This seems to be another example of the inexperience of this White House.
This social secretary scene reminds me of travelgate when the Clintons loaded up the White House travel office with their bubbas. I'm betting she's some Chicago bud that isn't qualified for the job.
If WA state can't act responsibly without paperwork from other states, then it sounds like WA state should reconsider their laws and rte-write them to allow judges to use common sense.
ROFL about the pom pom story 🙂
@starr – yes, anchoring the 7p a fair amount until John King's show launches in Jan 🙂
Oh my GOD! This Ms. Salahi is too much. What's wrong with this woman?
Watch out Anderson, she may just crash CNN's Christmas party! 🙂
She should have given the lady a firm "No!" and not tell the lady, "I get back to you!"
perhaps whoever thought it was ok for the party-crashing couple to attend is the same who thought the social secretary should not comment.
