Live Blog from the Anchor Desk 11/30/09

Tonight, we have breaking news on the hunt in Washington state for the gunman accused of killing four police officers. Plus, new details on the White House party crashers. The Washington Post is reporting on e-mails that the couple says clears them of wrongdoing. We have the White House reaction.

Here are some of them:

2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links

    good evening anderson.

    first off..just wanna say my thought n prayers are with the families of the 4 officers.

    i just wanna know, why cant former gov. huckabee take responsibility for releasing the suspect instead of blaming it on the system in both arkansas and wa. state.

    Why are the States NOT sharing the records with one another?

    Esp. in this electronic time that we are living in, it is so simple!

    Anderson,

    It is a tragedy that these officers were killed. Funny , how we can now question the crimnal justice system when for years that we have disparity in sentencing.

    My daughter and her fiancee are cops. They say 95% of crime is due to 5% of criminals. Seems like we should identify them and just strap them into an electric chair.

    Excellent report by Joe Johns.

    The "legal trail" of this horrific man is completely nuts!

    If Arkansas Warned Washington the he was a "repeat" offender, WHY was he on the street????

    @Mike, formerly from Syracuse,

    When it's issued, the death penalty needs to be "issued" within a reasonable amount of time!

    After all, Mason was given the death penalty.

    That's just great!
    Mike H. is NOT taking any responsibly for his actions! No surprise there really.

    my heart goes out to those police officers and the family and friends. i know people that have been in jail for burglary, petty theft, not able to make bail, but this guy does 11 years, on a hundred year plus sentence, and gets a pardon. i know women that are serving life sentences for killing an abusive spouse. what the hell is wrong with this picture. people are doing time and not allowed bail for possessing mariruana, yet this man only last week got bail for raping a child. well as always crimes against woman and children are less offensenses that crimes against property

    @Emily, Huckabee has some responsibility in this, but I wonder what pressure what put on him to commute this scumbag's sentence. More importantly, who put the pressure on him?

    This is going to be Huckabee's Willie Horton. His chances of a nomination are gone.

    Anderson,why was this monster out,and where did he get his weapons? This is why the confusion should stop about the second ammendment right to have guns.We do have the right but there should be strict laws to try to keep weapons out of the hands of felons like him.I just feel so bad for the families of these officers the grief they must be feeling.There are so many innocent people in prison being freed because of false accusations but this guy was a monster and yet he kept getting out,what a terrible shame.

    What a tragic disaster, all of our hearts and prayers are with the families and friends. On Sunday, Huckabee issued this statement on his Web site regarding the suspected shooter: "Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State." Huckabee commuted the sentence of the Seattle suspect maybe he is the failure in the system, what hypocrisy, no matter what was advised up to the point of the decision to grant clemency, it was the say so of Huckabee, that statement does not disconnect him from what has happened.

    Who is responsible for the guest list at the White House? Wouldn't asking who ever is in charge of that guest list solve whether or not the "Crashers" were on the list?

    Hello everyone. The cold-blooded murders of the four police officers in Seattle is heartbreaking. I appreciate AC360 leading with this story instead of Tiger Woods. I wish the media would cut Tiger Woods some slack. He's given us a lot.

    @Mike, formerly from Syracuse,

    "This case is a perfect example of why the death penalty is needed."

    I agree completely and this is a good example of why "life without the chance of parole" is a great big lie.

    November 30, 2009 at 10:08 pm |
  26. Sonya

    Lets keep it real! Huckabee and the Parole Board acted justly; A 95 year sentence for aggravated burgular is excessive and cruel. Obviously, there was reasons to commute his sentence; most people doesn't receive such a priviledge.

    I wonder if "people" would be helping the suspect simply because they might be afraid of him. COnsidering his history, he sounds frightening.

  28. Emily

    @Jo Ann,

    sure does sound like a "hate-crime"!

    With all the security that most judges have, looks like he went out looking for the police to take his anger out on!

    Really frustrating that he was able to get OUT of prison in the first place.

    Look forward to hearing what Mike. H. has to say.

    Good evening. The murders in Washington state yesterday are so tragic. And now the information of the breakdown in our justice system that allowed Clemmons to be set free in Arkansas. If he had been left to rot in jail, the four officers would still be alive. I hope justice will be adequately served this time around.

    Tragic and amazing how a lone gunman armed with a single handgun can inflict so much heartache in a moment - just like the one at Fort Hood.

    Good Evening Everyone!

    It sickens me that people are so brave enough to kill police officers! what exactly were those officers doing wrong to him?! eating the wrong doughnuts! This story reminds me of the four officers that were killed in my hometown of Oakland, CA

    Evening, Anderson and bloggers ... hoping for a break in this case. Also, Huckabee has a lot of explaining to do. Better forget about a 2012 presidential bid.

    What drives a person to do such a crime is it drugs or just a lack of love of life .

    I hope the accused gunman is found soon. It's hard to believe he was continually set free–with such a serious history of crime.
