Evening Buzz: White House Party Crashers

Maureen Miller
AC360° Writer

Security is supposed to be top-notch at The White House.  But somehow a couple that wasn't invited to last night's state dinner got inside the party tent, and within feet of the President. The intruders even brag about it on their Facebook page.

The couple took a lot of photos. There's a snapshot with Vice President Joe Biden, another with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and many others.  We'll show you the party photos tonight on 360°. We'll also have details on the intruders who are reportedly aspiring reality TV stars.

Tonight the Secret Service released this statement:

"The Secret Service has tasked our Office of Professional Responsibility with conducting a comprehensive review of the incident which occurred at the White House State Dinner last night.

Initial findings identified a Secret Service checkpoint which did not follow proper procedures to ensure that the 2 individuals named in a Washington Post story were on the invited guest list.

It is important to note that these individuals went through magnetometers and other levels of security, as did all guests attending the dinner."

Join us for this story and much more starting at 10 p.m. ET. See you then!

Ive been to some of the biggest partys and clubs in america. And there are always more then one person at a door if over more then 200. I think that was stupid of the white house to have one at the door.Come on!

by all means, throw the book at this couple.

but, while at that, stick all those smarter-than-others at those too-big-to-fail financial magic houses in there first. then, follow them with those health "care" magicians also. then throw away the keys – but, only for the latter.

Besides there are easier ways to see famous people its called ASKING not LYING your way in (I herd bout yr crafy act about pitting 2 ppl against each other.. Heres another typical creshing remark prolly used by em in tha past something along the lines of.. "I cant believe we are not on there the Ambassador ... See Moreinvited us" . Yes we can.. its possible to be invited to anything for real but it comes with work and commitment! Other than losing ur fame 2 bat hope this publicity stunt was worth while 2 ya.

PS BTW what were you doing during the Dining time since you were NOT SEATED.. ltr

We can send our troops to foreing countries and protect the unknown but yet we can't protect our most powerful leaders (President / Vice Pres.) of the United States. Once again our faith and trust has been tested and again the terrorists / the unknown has penatrated our defense. Will it take more americans to lose their lives like those inocent victims of the twin towers before we can tighten our security belts. It's scary how easily two unknown individuals managed to get that close to our top leaders and the staff. "WAKE UP AMERICA WE ARE TRULY AT RISK." We are chasing the supposed terrorists in other countries when they are already here. "Happy Thanksgiving America and may "GOOD BLESS / HEAL THE WORLD."

Yep, we are still sooooo safe because we take our shoes off at the airport, and a bimbo blond...I'm blond (well white now!), waltzes into the White House dinner. Throw the book at them! If Martha Stewart served time for lying to Feds, they can too.

Uhm, I don't mean to pull it out "the race card" but here is the perfect case. YOU have a clean cut white man and women. Who is ever going to question them? They can walk into just about any where they want to

If those two liars wanted to test our national security in such a petty manner, then they should get to test the insides of a jail cell for a bit. Our Constitution demands that we be allowed to protest the actions of our government, but this is up there with carrying assault rifles into Presidential rallies.

And we want the world to have a government like ours. Freedom for All? Wow thanks.

My 13 years on the United States Marine Corps i have never in my life see or heard of suc a horriable violation of national Security. No matter what any one says this was an inside job and someone was trying to make a statement. The president need to be treated better. I could only imagine what would have happened if the President of the United States and his wife was harmed. The crashers need to be procusited to the fullest extent of the law and the Seceret Service personnal need to be fired an placed in jail. thsi type of act is not and should not be tolirated.

I'm sure this isn't the first time such a thing happened! I think someone orchestrated the entire event. There just doesn't seem to be the respect one would expect for a president here! Sad!

This should have never happen! Many heads should roll and this couple should be in jail right now. Firing is in order and jobs given to people that want to work and do a good job of protecting our President and the First Lady and our Vice President and 2nd Lady including the White House guests. As Bill Maher said America is stupid. Can an intelligent, loving person with good sense imagine what could have happen if this couple had screwed up! God Bless all good workers.

I will admit that security was extremely heavy around the White House. But these folks really seemed to get in without a problem!

I am visiting D C and happened to be nearby when guests began arriving for the dinner. I saw the crasher couple coming down the sidewalk along with a few other people who were videotaping them as they approached the gate. At first I thought it was Ann Coulter. They seemed to get in without a problem. After they got in I asked the people who had been taping them who she was (they didn't go in but were waiting outside the gate). They said "Just someone we are following for a documentary.". I thought the whole thing seemed rather odd.

These two ought to be severely punished. Lying to a federal agent, presenting a false identity, being an imposter, making an ass of security, not to mention the highest office in the land and causing the rest of us to have to endure even stricter security are behaviors our society cannot tolerate.

I am beyond appalled at this situation. It is one thing if an error occurred at a town hall meeting, but we are talking about the White House for God's sake. It is absolutely ludicrous that this couple only needed to have their names checked off of a list to get into the State Dinner. That's the same process I go through to get into a party at a Manhattan club. Whatever protocols were overlooked need to be addressed asap. I am perturbed that President Obama, a president who clearly has received the most security threats in presidential history, was as unprotected as he was last night.

To all Americans we could have had a bad day.Think about what could have possibly happen, on our soil and in our White House where our commander in chief and vice president ( ect.) all were attending a dinner. America we have serious problems right here at home the secret service needs to be investigated and held accountable.!

The interlopers should be given a medal rather than singled out for castigation. To report they breached the first security checkpoint, then skated thru the metal detectors indicates ten-year-old-technological reporting. Breaching the first point could be explained by just understanding computer technology better than those that set up and and maintain and monitor the security system. Then getting past the metal detector thereby allowing them to potentially get a lethal cutting instrument in – well ever heard of ceramics which aren't metal and don't show up in metal detectors but which can be sharpened to a razor's edge and which, in fact, are used to sharpen metal knives? So, this couple should be invited to contribute to our security knowledge base if those in charge of the President's security are meeting their job responsibilities as "public servants" rather than self- serving entities unto themselves only concerned with tenure and promotion.

When it comes to security at the White House, would you not expect the invitations sent to those invited to be required, as well as 2 picture ID's to gain enterance into The White House?

I mean, unless you have passed a background check first , as well as been someone important enough to recieve a RSVP Invitation, how would you be able to slip by the social security agents who are suppost to be watching everyone for anything suspicious.

This couple deserves an award for being better than the agents hired to protect our nations most important pesonal and not prosicuted. Giving false information to SS agent is something they should be expecting and not just take someones word regarding who they are.

I can't believe this. Makes me wonder if anyone has tried this before and either have gotten caught or gotten through in the past, and how many times for each president. The USSS or FBI should do an investigation into these people and find out how exactly they pulled this off. I hope the USSS learns something from this at least.

I personally know these 2 idiots. ita – they should go to jail, but not some cushy federal prison but a maximum security prison (since they breached our national security, they should be viewed as a maximum security threat to us all!). That said...

They believe they are entitled to do whatever they want no matter what the cost to others, whenever they want, so as to further their agenda. And make no mistake, Michaele (pronounced Mik-kell) & Tareq DO have an agenda – they drove a once prosperous winery into the ground by overspending on frivolous things and were shocked when Tareq's parents refused to keep funding their outrageous spending habits.

They have no problem spending anyone or everyone else's money to further themselves. They have an angle for everything they do. When they married they even tried to sell copies of their wedding on DVD for $24.99. You can see it for free on You-Tube.

let's see them for what they are – classless, felonious wannabe's who should be thrown in jail for a LONNG TIME! Maybe once there, they can truly learn a worthwhile, honest trade – like making license plates.

I am disturbed by this breech of security and thankful for the safety of our President. I regard the act of these individuals as careless and very disrespectful. Above all, potentially dangerous for our President and his Staff. What if the individuals ' intentions had been malicous and not just pathetically immature?

inviatation only,i could not get into a regular nighclub private party without an inviatation. this was a disgrace maybe they should hire some bouncers for sercuity.

Were these self absorbed narcissistic gate crashers trying to ruin President and First Lady Obama's first State Dinner or just trying to get attention? Maybe felony charges and mug shots would take care of that.

I am so embarrassed the whole world knows now they do not need an invitation to get into the White House you just have to look good and be rich and you can rub elbows with the President? Somebody needs to loose there job! We need to protect the first family and our country. The White House is not the border!

    November 25, 2009 at 11:32 pm |

The whole security staff should be put through some serious questioning and all those who are found to be negligent, should be fired! Maybe at this point a shake-up at he White House is necessary. I'm very sceptical about them.
Now, CNN please stop showing clips about these two! You're doing exactly what they want you to do.

We are in trouble, If Obama can't keep the whitehouse safe from two wannabe's, It sounds like to me Bin Laden will be our leader.
It's kinda scarey, Thank God, We own our own guns, and can protect ourselfs, cause we all know how Obama likes to bow!!!

It is incredibly unbelievable to me that this couple got as far as they did without anybody questioning their identity! I don't. Understand why people are commenting saying our country is as secure as the white house state dinner party. This has nothing to do with our country's safety. It is the secret service that failed to do its job, not president Obama. Obama's job is not to make sure who's invited to the state dinner party and who's not!!!

This couple has a long history of scamming, cheating, lying and being dishonest in both their business dealings and so-called social obligations. They leave a trail of unpaid bills and invoices behind in their business and charity works. Immoral and corrupt people. Tareg's own mother has sued Tareq to keep him off of the Oasis Winery property A social climbing couple in the worst sense.

SlI fInd this incident very troubling. Millions of us pray for the President's security and that of his family every day. It is a serious matter! I find it very disturbing that those at the top who are tasked with his safety are not vigilent. I guess we BETTER be praying for him! Looks like he needs. It more than we knew!

think being too hard on secret service about party crashers harder if you are a known figure than unknown. I was at black tie affair last wk
$325 a ticket. My friend and I were there legitamately, but no one ever took our names also and was treated like royalty. At certain affairs like this ppl expect if you are there, you are supposed to be. But also we did have our name at a table otherwise would be a problem. They got over, but they look cheap. The party crashers that is!!

To Suzy Diamond: Why are you blaming the president for the SS lack of seriousness at what they do?? If you paid close attention to what was being reported, Sanjay as well as the majority of guests went through various security checkpoints. But since only 2 people cracked the system, you blame Obama? Please!!!

Intruders at state dinner could have been carrying bio weapon like anthrax or chem like polonium which KGB used for assassinations. It wouldn't have been caught by magnetometers. I am in shock @such sloppy protocols. I know for a fact that oscars have better security.

Major 'black eye' on the white house security. However, the crashers need to face the consequences. To let them off the hook would set a bad precedent...

Hilarious, yet completely dangerous and in actuality very scary showing what could happen, if the wrong type of person was to get through security. Funny this time because it was harmless, but will it be next time?

  46. Howard 'duke' Holtz

Thjs is totally disgusting, if I were Obama I would fire the entire crew and blackball them from any future security jobs.

On top of the inept performance, the media has now shown the enemy how easy it is to get to our elite.

This must be some kind of joke, because it does not seem to be possible in real life – our Medical Marijuana Clubs here in California have better securit than that!

What I find interesting is that it is being reported that the President was not in any danger. My question is what about the Vice President and the Chief of Staff. This couple was in direct contact with them as evidence by the photo's. Even though they went through METAL detectors, it does not always take a weapon to inflict harm. What if this couple dispensed an airborne pathogene while there. This is a MAJOR security breach regarless of the spin the Secret Service or White House press office is putting on the story.

Isn't it scary to think injury could have been done to all involved in the White House Dinner, but what if harm had been done to the Indian Prime Minister? That's a topic!

Maybe they should stop bragging about breaking the law and get used to wearing orange jump suits! By the way this will increase our already increasing prison population, which is money the country has to pump into prisons and not educational systems.
