Tonight we're look at the accusations Pres. Obama is giving big donors access to the White House. We've got the raw politics. And we're looking into reports that the CIA has a drug lord on its payroll in Afghanistan – the brother of the Pres. Hamid Karzi.

Solar energy could be used in Samoa.

Is there not an annual accounting of how the Samoan govt spends it money printed in the newspaper in the classified. Are there no laws requiring these notices in American Samoa? Was the dept of Homeland security making any noise about how slow things were going with the warning sirens?

Uh... when Sarah Palin remarks that the man is hungry for attention... wasn't she in the running for Miss America at one point?

Levi is just in it for a payday and attention. He's not credible.

Agree that Palin has crossed over into being a celebrity rather than a politician. Would be interested to see her get a talk show. Now that's entertainment!

The "attention" remark seems rediculous when you see how much "attention" she seems to need.

Levi is apparently bound and determined to keep her in check.

What has become of our values as citizen and a sense of community? After hearing about what happened to the 15 year old girl, I was completely discusted! What happened to responsibility?

Why is Sarah Palin being glorified for quitting on Alaska. i forgot two sets of standards.

    October 28, 2009 at 10:54 pm |
  16. Emily

    @Jay,
Palin showed what a poor politician she was when she QUIT as the Gov. of Alaska! That was a bad move!
Also, it was reported that she was going off script during the campaign – bad move!
    No one like a QUITTER!!

Let's see..... why are they doing this. Could it be motivated by money. I think it is for both of them. What a shame that this is the face of being a conservative. I for one have left the republican party forever.

Isn't Sarah Palin selling her body for money (or is her mind of another universe)?

That was the end of the Russians a decade ago in Afghanistan. They got pinned in the Cities. By all means take the fight to the enemy by use of outposts.

a smart discussion with three smart guys about the difficult choices in afghanistan. i learn from the back and forth – and hope it helps you.

Sarah Palin is showing what a poor politician she is in the way she is handling the situation with her grandson's father. She should be picking her feuds and enemies much more carefully. Why doesn't she just ignore him? She is bringing a simmering pot to a boil just in time for her book release – bad move. I bet Johnston boils over and drops of the "bombshells" just as the book comes out. He'll steal all of her thunder.

Bob B. makes a great point esp. after that awful explosion in Pakistan in the women's market today, or yesterday now.

This drug lord story is no surprise! CIA history is littered with payments to "bad" guys.

Excellent panel discussion. Although it is very sad that we continue to try and " buy" our way out of things.

I think that the purchase power of the USA is waining & has caused a lot of disrespect towards our country.

I am sorry to say this... We have tried to win a war within another country and it never worked. Why do you believe that it will work this time?

John, Jeffrey, and Lisa did a great job with a difficult topic from Richmond.

The legal system needs to come down hard on the perpetrators of that rape.

And there is a disturbing issue of those watching and doing nothing. I'm really glad you keep up with that theme. I wonder why people don't speak up or don't do something. Why is silence a good thing?

The voice of wisdom, money solves all problems. Let's buy a solution in Afghanistan like we did in Iraq. That's the ticket.

    "CIA paying Karzai's Brother"

Would we mind if CIA were to pay mafia who were committing crimes in U.S. cities? Of course yes,
Now we are paying a guy who is neck deep in all sort of crimes: warlord, drug dealer....

    October 28, 2009 at 10:45 pm |

@ Gergen: The hell with them is right. Enough already with these Afghan War Lords! Are you ever going to blog again?

Your report on American Samoa was a breath of fresh air. However corruption is nothing new to most people in American Samoa! Many have been taken advantage of by the government. It's about time the FBI has stepped in to take a closer look into this government. Let's hope something will be done for the people of American Samoa. Even the health care system there is in need of a major change. Most people that live in American Samoa must travel to Hawaii for good health care. Why is that?

Let's go back to your news casts from 2001 and see what you all were saying about Hamid Karzi. How a couple of years changes everything. we put him in power, now what?
