@starr formerly known as vincent, true, I didn't think of that, would explain why she sounds genuinely distressed on 911 call, she did seem in cahoots with him though in that video of the balloon in the backyard

    clap happy....

good night Isabel, good night everyone, good weekend everyone

I'm saddened by the "Bear on Skates" story. Not only did a person die, others were injured and the bear had to be shot. Bears on skates isn't something I would find entertaining to watch.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Nite bloggers!

Look, the bear was abused no matter which way you look at it. They were making the bear try to adapt. The bears is an animal for God's sake. Just like our domesticated dogs, any animal will turn on you when the right (instinctual) moment presents itself.

My thoughts exactly, Erica! I can't believe the poor bear made it five years on skates before rebelling.

I'm listening to your story about the sweat lodge incident. I'm Native American and I feel sorry for the people that died. This ceremony is not a something you should play with. We take these ceremonies very seriously. Only high medicine men handle these ceremonies. This ceremony is not used to make someone money. Sweats is are lively hood and this ceremony is sacred to us. This Ray character should be responsible for this. Again, my heart goes out to the family.

well let this guy continue to make money - if he's found to be held responsible for these deaths and charged, there will be more compensation money to go around to the families. if it's the money he's after, then losing what he made during this time should make an impact.

This James Arthur Ray reminds me eerily of the Rev. Jim Jones & the whole kool-aid suicide thing back in the 70's.

    October 23, 2009 at 10:51 pm |
  30. Cynthia, NC

Why would James Arthur Ray not cooperate with the police? He has something to hide obviously.

    October 23, 2009 at 10:51 pm |
  31. Jennifer - AZ

It seems like James Arthur Ray is trying to milk his last profits before he skips town with his reputation (or is driven out!).

Mr. Ray appears to be a fraud. It is unfortunate as "The Secret" was very helpful to many people.

However, Mr. Ray seems to have strayed from the spiritual path to the pathway of Greed.

I truly hope he is appropriately punished for the deaths that he, and he alone (if he was not letting people leave).

I have a fair amount of experience with tools for increased spritual growth. I do not feel that Mr. Ray is a Responsible spiritual leader.

I do not think the White House is at war with Fox News. It is about time the White House call Fox News out on their lies, and distortions. I feel it is the White House prerogative to disassociate themselves with Fox. I love CNN and MSNBC and I have a hard time jumping from station to station trying to watch both. I use to watch Fox from time to time to listen to bias propaganda, and try to see or understand their views, but when the lies, distortions and hatred became so extreme I could not watch or contribute to their ratings. Also, the fact that they were making serious money off their viewers with this propaganda.

I wonder what Ray's annual income is from this business?

i think these "seminars" thrive of the placebo effect. others around them are insecure and now say they feel better, and what do you know, now you feel better too and so does the person next to you!! its a scam to the max!!!

Ray is no different then Jim Jones and others where followers are lead to there death for a belief. It is cultish

I was surprised the White House came out directly against Fox News. I'm not sure it's such a bad idea. Fox seems to have gotten to the point where they are no longer practicing journalism.

    October 23, 2009 at 10:41 pm |

It really would have been best to just "freeze" FOX out and not say anything. That way they would look even more paranoid and nuts than they already are, as they continued to not have access.

Fox News has 24 hours a day to give Obama a hard time, seems unhelpful to call them out when they can retaliate all day long and apparently have a ton of viewers.
