Is it a risky strategy for the White House to take on Fox News? We've got the raw politics. Plus, Rev. Al Sharpton takes aim at Rush Limbaugh's possible bid for the St. Louis Rams. And, new facts on the H1N1 flu and vaccine from 360 M.D. Sanjay Gupta.

4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

The White House should ignore Fox completely. The President and his staff should tend to the real business of fixing the economy. There will always be people, networks, reporters, etc. that will have something negative to say, they shouldn't even dignify Fox with responses/rebuttals.

Hi Anderson!

You are awesome. I think the White House and his "team" needs to butt out of everything, including the media. Fox may lean toward the right but CNN leans toward the left. It's hard to find good neutral reporting these days but for the white house to attack an entire network is absurd. President Obama can just not watch Fox and get on with his day.

@Jo Ann, you are correct. In fact the positive MSM slant is why we have President Obama and not President McCain.

Many people have been using Fox News to make false claims about the president and health care on forums. Obama is one smart cookie to stand up to Fox, and honestly he is just being realistic about it. If you care about balance programming you would not watch Fox. I prefer CNN anyway!

Hi Anderson, Erica, Isabel everyone. Absolutely David Gergen, critiquing the media is the Democratic party's job in this situation. Wow, I didn't know that many people watch Fox news. It's not my impression that they're an extension of the Republican party. Also, seems like every news channel gives play to the Presidents critics.

I think there is a different world now than during Nixon's time. Can you point out to your guest that they did not say they wouldn't do interviews, the secretary said he would be glad to debate there, let's just not pretend the station is a news station such as CNN. Fox itself has admitted it is more editorial. The fact is, people consider Fox above the administration, their viewers take their cues from it (see tea parties), it just isn't the same as 30 years ago.

It's just fine for the Administration to take on Fox News.

October 12, 2009 at 10:09 pm |

No the President shouldn't go on Fox
I don't listen to Fox so negative

10. Kathy - Illinois

I think what lead the White House to speak out against Fox is the desire to beat down the negative talk that ran rapid throughout the summer. It's a tricky balance.

Why even report so much on Fox News? dumb

I don't know if it's a wise strategy. But it's true. I'm not sure how anyone can watch a fox news program with a straight face.

I agree with David. The White House shouldn't elevate, or legitimize, Fox's agenda.

its simple.. if your bias and dont tell the truth you don't deserve to be heard

October 12, 2009 at 10:08 pm |
15. Dulcie - Denver

Nah, I don't agree with that lady. I think all the President missing in not doing interviews and reaching voters. Trust me, no one who watches Fox is going to change their mind. It'd be a waste of time. Time that is better spent talking to folks that will actually listen.

As far as I'm concerned the WH is just calling it as they see it - and I agree with them. By the way - wasn't CNN going after Fox not to long ago for saying CNN didn't cover the "Tea Party March?"

October 12, 2009 at 10:08 pm |
17. Mike, Syracuse, NY

Most of the rest of the MSM leans so far to the left, that reporting from the middle looks 'biased'.

Fox really has more viewers than msnbc and CNN combined? Tell me its not so.

Is that really true that more people watch Faux than Cnn/msnbc combined? I can't believe that. How do you get counted, I want to be counted!!

I don't like the way the vaccine is taking. Through the nose is not good for the lungs. just in case, there are side effects.

FNC is no more an arm of the Republican Party than CNN is an arm of the Democratic Party or an arm of the Obama publiciity machine. However, when I look at it that way, maybe it is!

I haven't watch on Fox! I don't think is not right Fox attacking White House.

What's 360 without David Gergen?!!! I like hearing his take on things.

October 12, 2009 at 10:05 pm |
28. Mike, Syracuse, NY

David Gergen is correct. Fox is exercising their First Amendment rights.

Why in the world is this your top story first? Secondly ,it is not agreeing or disagreeing. It is about truth vs. lies. Fox News and I really mean Faux Noise tells lies and no one calls them out on it including other news channels such as your own.

Happy Monday Anderson, Erica & Bloggers.
(Happy Thanksgiving Canadians!!!)

Silvio Berlusconi is losing the battle against the Media in Italy; the stations that he doesn't own!!!
This is a bad battle for Obama to be taking on, it's a no-win.

Why does it seem that the White House is continually focusing on issues that almost seem trivial when compared to the priority which is American jobs.
