Can Obama fit any more on his plate?

President Obama faces a daunting fall to-do list against the backdrop of an American public losing enthusiasm on a variety of issues.

Obama's agenda ranges from dealing with Iran's nuclear ambitions to traveling to Copenhagen to pitch Chicago for the 2016 Olympics - a trip the president said two weeks ago he could not take because he was working on health care.

"Health care reform has been his No. 1 priority issue here domestically. He wanted to make sure that if he went, that it wouldn't have an adverse impact on that, so he's going for just a day," said senior adviser Valerie Jarrett.

And health care will still be at the top of the list when the president gets back. This fall, his priorities are health care and financial reform, one Capitol Hill source said.

But health care reform will require a hands-on approach. The Senate Democratic leadership is looking for presidential guidance in creating one bill out of two very different ones - all the while holding onto enough votes to pass it.

And as for Obama's other goal, the administration sent financial reform legislation to the Hill and on both sides, committee work has begun, but it's a long way from cooked.

Finishing a few things successfully would do Obama more good than piling more on his plate right now. The economy would be the best place to do that – because it impacts so many people A success or failure here would directly touch more people in this field than some of his other objectives. Once we see him successfully complete something I think more people would be tolerant of him having more on his plate.

What has he done? He has spent lots of money. He has even out done GWB in spending. The left keeps crying about how the president inherited such a bad economy. He should know. He was a senator during GWB and fought against everything GWB wanted to do to help save money. Remember? The two houses make and approve all bills. The president only approves or vetos them.

As long as Obama can get away with blaming everything on the previous administration then his sheep will follow him without asking a single question that may hurt his feelings.

Why is health care his #1 priority when the US has lost 3 million jobs since he took office and unemployment is nearly 10%? He's ignoring the economy and the failed stimulus, he's ignoring a request for the commanding general in Afghanistan for 40,000 more troops, all he does about Iran and North Korea is issue vague statements about them being 'on notice', and his great apology tour hasn't led to any increase in NATO troop contributions to Afghanistan (in fact Japan recently pulled some support). His very first act of ordering GITMO closed is foundering. And on top of that he's been meddling in the NY and VA governor campaigns. Has he actually finished anythings he's started?

Is he guy working alone? (how many people are there to support and advice him?)
What about multi-tasking? He is not even 50, so he can do more. I wonder how old are people thinking that he is doing to much.
If he was doing less, you would be writing that he is not doing enough.
Give the guy a break ...
You have the best president that you have had in years.
Tell us why the US administration let an electoral coup happen in Gabon a few months after Obama's speech in Accra.

Wow....... the far-right is out today! We have a president who can chew gum and walk! Unlike Dubya.

President Obama works all the time, its call a ...... Laptop ...... meetings, etc. You do not have to be in the Oval Office to be working.

Its amazing to read some of the insulting and ignorant comments posted here.

President Obama inherited the Great Recession, when he took Office we were losing 700,000 jobs a month. The month of September we have ONE MILLION jobs.

In the month of September the Dow grew over 20%...... for the first time in TWO YEARS!

With President Obama leadership the U.S. is slowly crawling out of the Bush Disaster, and people are upset that "he has too much on his plate"!

Have any of you ever multitasked?

Is there a list of all the entourage that will be going along; either on their own or the taxpayer's dime?

Are there any folk in Chicago that don't want the Olympics?

Did he come in with a plan or is he just winging it? This olympic bid appearance really is odd. Don't recall another President doing this type a thing before. When does he start to work in the White House and stop running around giving speeches.

He could get more accomplished if he would focus and stop acting like an entertainer by judging his days by the number of TV impressions or moments he has. Enough is enough on the visibility of our president.

With Americans not ever allowing anybody of any other race to be in a position of importance you can't understand our work ethic, we as a people have always had to do extra to prove worthyness and not be rewarded for the excellent job. So it seem's unusual to people now because you were always taught black people were lazy and not smart
what slavery did to us as a people has made us stronger and smarter
and remember Obama is half white, but do you know why people call him black? because back in the slave days if you had a percentage of black in you, you were just labled black (sounds like a purity thing or maybe an arian thing) So slave aspects still exist today by you calling Obama black he's really half and half (maloto) but from my stand point of view i will except black because it seems as though his dominant cellular composition is more evident than the recessive traits he has....

Not really sure how much of his plate he is attending to. If he only speaks to the important people once in 70 days (Gen.), and can fly off with Oprah to rally for Chicago to get the Olympics.
If health care was really a crisis you don't leave in the middle of a crisis. Is Afghanistan important in the war on terror? Is the jobless rate irrelevant?

From the looks of Obama's plate it seems it doesn't matter what is put on it he just swipes it to the side without even dealing with it and adds more. Pretty soon it is going to be piled sky high and come tumbling down all over that equally sky high ego and it ain't going to be pretty!

He isn't actually doing anything, he has the congress working on health care, he is doing nothing on Afghanistan or Iran, he doesn't know anything about ACORN, the economy is in the toilet, since the stimulus failed. What is he doing besides campaigning for the Olympics? He's the great delegater!
