David Gergen 🙂 Great to see you tonight!!!

The UN at times is like a Barnum & Baileys Circus!
The UN has had problems for a long time!

Well said, David Gergen. The UN Headquarters is a HOME to every country.

Regarding why the terrorist activity might have picked up a bit: I think it is the changing of hands in the presidency. There is so much chaos going on in the USand world and it appears that Prez Obama is juggling more projects than is humanly possible in order to also ensure the safety of the USA.

I believe terrorist groups might view us a an easy target as we transistion into our new govt. w/ Obama.

Can you really prevent fundamentalists from fulfilling what they feel is their destiny? We have to be vigilant and fight back against these people. One has to realize this fundamentalist approach is pure evil and has to be a form of brain washing by their faith.

Bath time pornography? I think not. I think people are over exaggerating what parents do when they take pictures like this. And people need ot be careful on how they interpret what they see for they can truly ruin families. what's next?

I think the threat of terrorism in this country is highly likely to become a reality more and more. Our borders are under patroled, and there are more anti government radicals than ever before. It's up to all of us to be aware and report any suspicious activity.

Anderson, in answer to your question what is changing that might contribute to the increase in terrorism. I think we only need to look at the breakdown of civility in our society, the amount of fear that is pervasive and on and on.

Also, look at this week's UN tirades andmessages from some countries' leaders.

I agree that something has changed here in the US that's caused all these attempts and plots, but I'm not sure if we're just hearing about them now or if this is a new threat. Has the FBI changed their methods? Or is this really a resurgence of violence?

I'm very thankful these people were stopped. It feels very odd that Nazi was right here in the Denver area.

Good thing we stopped these terrorist plots, with the lessening of our security over the last few months, one wonders if we can continue to stop them??

In my view America has always had questionnable foreign policy, but allowing those lunatics to speak at the UN? No wonder enough resentment is engendered to cause terrorist attacks.

Well, you can't accuse these terrorists of being smart shoppers. The guy who paid more than $2/bottle for hydrogen peroxide waaaaay overpaid. I just bought a bottle at Safeway in Virginia for $1.49.

this appears to have been going on for a time...these terrorist plots...one for over a year. sounds like the FBI has been doing outstanding work; watching, and waiting!!!!
they all seem to be getting arrested now!

Yes, I agree with you..... That is so scary for us to hear terrorism since 9/11.

Good evening Anderson, Erica, Isabel, everyone. Wow, two stings almost one on top of the other, great deep undercover work by the FBI. both in the midwest and in Dallas. Scary to think what these two had planned and horrifying to think one of them was going to explode a bomb outside a 60 story building.

Well Peter Bergen just made me realize that hydrogen could be used to make a murderously explosive device.

Sounds like Agent Don Clark is saying the FBI undercover operations saved our ass. Great too that the suspects were caught totally red handed.

How do you want to make peace if the people involved in this are walking out of the room ?

I'm curious as to whether or not more violent plots are happening in the US, or it's just now being more heavily reported.

Maybe the FBI is just getting better at finding them before they can do real damage?

Will we one day it will end?
It's horrible to live in the midst of this psychological terror (and real)!

What is most frightening is who else is involved with these terror suspects but not yet in custody.

that hydrogen peroxide thing is really quite interesting – bomb making material? really? i commonly use it (diluted and extra rinsing, of course) as a vegetable wash, – works great, too.

so, if a person bought hydrogen peroxide for household use, would they be on a terrorist watch list? that's just creepy...

This demonstrates how easy it is for shadowy people to do bad things. Great work by FBI to unravel these plots.

Websites that teaches people how to create bombs should be banned! Its really harming the society we live in now..besides didnt the goverment want to ban it years before??

These are some serious threat! Last week, I read that our beautiful Soldier Field was one of the places ( sport arenas and hotels ) that are being targeted. We really need to keep our eyes and ears open.

Thank God these attacks were uncovered before we might have had another potential 9/11

    September 24, 2009 at 10:07 pm |
  33. Danielle - Long Beach, CA

These terror plots are extremely scary. If there are 3 cases that have been uncovered so close it causes me to wonder how many more people are out there doing this.

Why are these bombs called WMD's? A WMD is by definition either a nuclear, chemical or biological weapon capable of inflicting massive casualties.

I'm very suspect of these terroist arrest when the FBI provides people with the means to carry out the acts rather then allowing them to show or display the ability to make there desires happen on their own.

    Good evening all!

I actually think it's MORE creepy that these two terror attempts are unrelated. Strange and frightening. Apparently these terrorists are lurking everywhere. That idea does not give me any comfort.
