About The UN: I believe that all nations should hear out each other...even if they do not agree with them. A lot of countries do not agree with the US for putting their nose in every thing....but they do not boycott/protest.
The UN is mostly talk and there is nothing united about it. They agree on nothing...and the world is still a mess....For the leaders it is all PR.
thanks for joining us everyone... quite a day at the un
Goodevening Anderson. The 2 leaders disgusted me with their rambling speeches. They reaklly needed to be heard though,so we can all hear how stupid and simpleminded they really are . I cant wait till next september!
President Obama is making a move no other leader has made till now.
We must hear those leaders,no matter how their image has been portrayed in the Media, Just like the late Palistnian leader, the Media has announced that he is the worest terrirorist in the world during the 70's, and years later he got a Nobel Peace award. Col. Khadafi has proven his commitment to peace, and his views are even against some Arab nations.
If we can understand more about their culture and what triggers their actions, then we can speak instead of WAR.
Was Iraqe better when Saddam was in power or it is better Now, Was Iran better when the Shah was in power or Now. Arab people Love and respect America, Let's bring back the love for Americans that was before.
I did think there was a current of friendliness, newfound maybe, in Gadhafi's speech. He was trying to bring up from his perspective the quandry of the Somalians suffering strife and famine and having their waters overfished, and his view of the less powerful countries fare at the UN, but he also didn't seem to recognize that the Israelis and the Palestinians have their own duly elected governments, and that the UN such as it is is doing tremendous good in the world, stemming refugee crises, helping with poverty, food and water shortages, promoting the well being of children every single day.
Feel better Dr. Gupta! Look on the bright side of it; you had it and doing very well.
Good news that Israel is pleased with what President Obama said at the UN today at.
As long as the UN head quarter is in NY America have no choice but to host any leaders. If we do not want them to come we have to do what the man says move the office somewhere else.
Khadafi and the president of Iran may have been ranting during there speeches at the UN. But some points that were made, made sense the US goes to the Middle eastern countries and impose there will and the people who fight them are labeled as terrorists don't you have the right to fight if your forced into something you don't agree with?
Gadaffi's speech brings new meaning to the old term of 'old man rambling'
@Brandon: EXACTLY!
Why are we even in the UN? If we are such a world leader, we don't need a group of nations to rely on. Get us, the US out of the UN. What is right in Libya or Iran, or the other UN countries is not right here.
With respect to the Rabii, I am a muslim and we should not take the introduction of ghadaffi as "king of King" out of context.
Wow, I'm in Canada, watching your show, can't believe what I'm seeing and hearing regarding this Iranian IDIOT (actually pick one.)
What disturbs me even more is giving him airtime.............I understand news but come on...........he's an IDIOT.
I'm Catholic, saying the holocaust didn't happen........why even bother with this interview Anderson?
Watching Gaddafi today was bizarre to say the least! It was quite a rant! I had to turn it off after awhile.
it's so foolish to completely deride the opinions of those we don't agree with - there's wisdom to be found if we would listen without bias– our arrogance continues to be our downfall
So far President Obama has apologized and appeased his way on the world stage with nothing substantial obtained in return.
Now Anderson don't overdo, and take care of yourself.
Dr Gupta take care
@Lorena
I too am glad to see Fareed Zakaria tonite on the program he is one of the smartess men I know on the subject of international affairs, can't beat him on his knowledge about the subject at hand.
I always watch his show on Sundays he is also a great interviewer.
Of course Gadhafi speech is very controversial and as someone said early I think he is trying to get his last hurrah in/get notice.
Fareed Z. is an excellent commentator and I enjoy his point of view. I am glad we had a chance to hear the words of the president of Iran. He said a lot of things that people don't want to hear, but he is right. The US has a lot of blood on its hands, and we are not innocent like so many people make us out to be. We have cause great damage around the world and Iran has every reason to hate us. It looks like our President is starting to own up to our past. Thanks Obama!
let these crazies do their thing at the UN.
Why you are affraid of a nuclear IRAN? Having nukes it's like having a bargaining tool. And thats what the Iranians want to do, bargain.
Allowing these controversial speakers to address their views is a testament not to their extreme views, but the views of our democracy and a world unified in the belief of free speech. Giving individuals like Ahmadinejad a voice reveals their hypocrisy for not giving their own people a similar voice but does not paint the UN or the US negatively. On the contrary, it highlights the ideals of a free-speaking world.
o.k this was the BEST, BESTES, part of the colnels speech. ....
he said 'i am here to collect our MONEY $70.7 billion dollars worth. lol. (paraphrase)
@John, are we talking about the same Ahmedinajad? You know, the one who supports terror, steals elections, and murders those who disagree? That 'good man'?
@ Anderson
What relevance does the presence of Kadafi at theUnited Nations General Assembly?
I watched your coverage of Ahmadinejad's speech to the UN with the caption blinking on the screen explaining that the US had walked out in protest of his hateful anti-semitic remarks. Being of Jewish heritage myself I am, however, simply perplexed by how irrepproachabe Israel is in this country and, indeed, in the West. Whenever someone or something reaches the status of irreproachability we need to deeply reexamine our polarized perspective because, as we know, absolute power corrupts absolutely as does absolute support absolutely corrupt the thing or person supported because it gives it undo license. Ahmadinejad is a disturbing man with aberrant and disturbing beliefs but I don't know that walking out and not listening really shows strength or maturity for this country or any other country for that matter. Can we still listen to someone, even if he is a lunatic, and still keep the integrity of our values? Walking out is much like a child who plugs his ears and hums to not hear something he doesn't want to hear. Ahmadinejad exists whether any of us like it or not, most of us, including myself, do not.. But let's try to understand things rather than pretend they don't exist.
The UN believes in free speech, just like the US, so we may not like who is speaking at the UN or what they are saying ... that is the price of democracy.
Declan
Religion, included in the conversation as part of policies or politics, makes me very nervous. I truly believe religion will be THE element that will ultimately destroy the world.
Rabbi you are 100% right, and the rest of the world doesnt know that but need to be informed
Isn't Libya like an incubator for terrorist groups?
Well, i think it was ok for Iran's leader to speak his mind. It's the UN people. United Nations, not the United States. I felt it was disrespectful for those nations to walk out on Iran's president. That's not how you solve problems, your just adding wood to the fire. Gadaffi just doesn't know what he's doing. Very odd man...
We should all focus that, the Government of Islamic Republic is using statement against Israel, the Nuclear Issue, and similar issues to gain Legitimacy.
The key is that you should spend more time talking to the people of Iran in Iran and what they belive in. Most of them hate to see that government is supporting Gaza, and the Hizbolah, and similar.
These jokers need to stop taking shots at other countries and governments and resolve their own problems before they stand on a podium for 90 minutes.
Both these terrorist leaders made fools of themselves. I was laughing my head off the entire time. Gadhafi looked nervous after Obama anyway. He kept drinking water and fumbling around like a baffoon.
The sad thing is that many countries agree with what these two nut jobs said today. The speaker just hit the mail on the head, why don't moderate Muslims repudiate Iran and Libya? One has to conclude they agree.
Kadafi is now democratic and against terrorism, quite different from some years ago.
This is absurd!
Good evening all.
People never change.
Dr Gupta,
The symptoms of swine flu are really different from other senses in past flu. The person is very prostrate.
I estimate your best! Take care!
This hole situation at the UN is about real Leadership. and I think the U.S needs to show the world that we have real leadership for the 21st centurty and that Iran and Lyba are showing that they dont have any once.
did Gadafi, and Ahmedinejad walks out when Obama made a speech?
I'm looking forward to hearing Dr. Gupta's story about what he went through tonight! Should be very interesting. Glad he's better!
I can understand the outrage when they are allowed to speak but when they do speak out they look and sound so psychotic that in some ways that's a good thing. Certainly we have a right to protest and we do it. And what is the whole tent thing on property owned by Trump. How did that come about?????
I agree with protesters outside of the UN. However, what I don't see is anyone protesting against the British government cutting a deal with Libya. I wouldn't expect better from Libya. I demand it from Great Britain. So why aren't the protesters going after them?
Anderson, who decides which leaders get to address the UN. Why even let an unstable over the hill leader like Gaddafi even speak?
Jay
ahmedinajad only spoke about peace and how to acheive peace, but was taken out of context by everiyone. He does not deny the holocaust but raises the question about the other 54 million who died in WWII that did not get a musem named after them. He is a good man whom is only trying to help his people.
They've got a great panel tonight.
Israel is a known nuclear power, yet it's never spoken of
The UN has become a bloated, corrupt corpse. We should boot it out of NY, and stop paying dues.
