Jack Gray
AC360° Writer/Producer
Good evening and welcome to the AC360° Emmy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, possible Kanye West interruptions…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Emmys aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
As for my qualifications to moderate this blog, well, I once saw Angela Lansbury in the grocery store.
We should point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Emmy Awards anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
And even if you’re not watching them, we think you’ll still enjoy the live blog. I’ll be with you from 8:00pm Eastern Time until the Emmys finish airing.
If you would like to participate in our Live Blog (and we hope you do) please follow our rules.
Here are some of them:
1) Please keep your comments short
2) Don’t write in ALL CAPS (we don’t like screaming)
3) Use your real name
Please note that due to volume we may not be able to post all comments.

Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.

oh, God. Please not American Idol...
I don't find Tracy Morgan funny, and I think he's kind of a jerk.
OMG, I hope Tracey isn't too drunk!
Tracy Morgan...this could be interesting.
@gill: I watch the news for reality. "Reality TV" is scripted and acted to a degree too; it's just done on the cheap. It's the TV version of junk food. Some is okay, but at this point we're all going to get diabetes.
Fave show?? That is just to hard to answer there are soooo many, Get Smart, The Odd Couple, The Love Boat, Star Trek, Mission Impossible, Murder She Wrote, I Dream of Jeannie, Matlock, In the Heat of the Night, Seinfeld...There are just to many faves lol!!!
I think the stage is great this year & I could have done without that dance number!
i love "Grey Gardens" watched it over & over. Should of / Could of been a hit at theaters – HBO was not enough of a offer to the masses
I think Neil is doing a fine job of hosting and congrats to Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey! If Alec lost weight he would look better than Rob Lowe, he was such a "Baldwin" in his day!!
Jack r u at the studio or at home watching?
@Kimberley
I also hope that Gray Gardens win!
Gray Gardens is very good ... amazing!
@Jack. Survivor is still on. I can't believe it either but they just aired a season premiere for the latest last week.
Am doing my shout out to LITTLE DORRIT! What a great Dickensian adaptation. Hope it wins!!!
HBO's Grey Gardens was amazing (full disclosure, CNN and HBO are owned by the same parent company)....if you've never seen the original documentary, it's a must-watch. Especially if you're veering down the cat lady path...it might be the intervention you need.
is survivor still on?!?!?! of COURSE it is!!!
They should make a special award for Ryan Seacrest for not sleeping for the last 6 years
@ Gray: Frasier (comedy series). Ive recently discovered Malcom in the middle in syndecation...Love it!
All time favorites: Carol Burnett, Red Skelton, Dean Martin...Variety shows were the best....
Mark Burnett, the grandfather of reality shows. Is this the legacy of 21st century TV? Shuddering thought...
I don't know ... Jeff Probs, by Survivor
I don't agree...
Did "The Mole" ever win an Emmy?
I really hope Grey Gardens wins an award.
Jeff Probst's speech was good.
who decides who wins an emmy?
Drew Barrymore in Grey Gardens. Best Performance of the year!!!
Neil...you don't need a statue, you are awesome. But I must admit John Cryer is pretty damn good.
Jeff Probst doesn't like ties does he?
I think Jeff should have worn a tie.
Never got the whole Survivor thing
Street dance... I love it! 🙂
@Stacy – no, you're not the only one – with the exception of the early seasons of 'Amazing race' (although from season 6 onwards they've kinda lost me as well), I've never seem to be able to get "in" to any of the reality shows – and I've made an effort to at least try.
is Survivor still on?
Yeah Ryan!!
The only reality shows I can stand are Project Runway and Kathy Griffin's D List.
why does there have to be a reality portion...? they don't even include any of the Real Housewives shows (some of the Coop's fave)
Always love Tabitha and Napolean's choreography.

I have never watched one episode of 30 Rock!"
Me either!
The Nanny was good and I will still watch The Golden Girls; Will and Grace, Frasier..
Favorite show of all time: Mary Tyler Moore
ooohhhh...ex's Max and Karina..the show must go on
Never watched 30 Rock either. Love Tina Fey, but can't stand Alec Baldwin!
I think it's time to come clean and say it: My name is Kelly and I'm a reality show junkie. I'm hoping to get help on a special episode of Intervention. 😉
The point of maxim & Karina on here is?
What wonderful effect behind the panel!
Toni Colette plays someone with multiple personalities on United States of Tara. I thought she meant she was breastfeeding when she was dressed in her "man" personality.
oh yikes...a dance number. did she kill Big Bird to make her dress?
WHAT ARE THE MERRITS TO WIN AN EMMY? IS IT POPULARITY OR GREATNESS. SOME OF THESE SHOWS LACK THE MERRIT BUT ARE POPULAR..........HUM.....I
Woot Kathy Griffin!
It's unbelievable how many reality shows are around....some of them are a waste of eye-power
I better not have to watch Jon Gosselin win something
