Tonight we have new insight on the congressman who called Pres. Obama a liar last night as he spoke to Congress. Who is Rep. Joe Wilson? We've got the raw politics. Plus, on the eve of the 9/11 anniversary where is Osama bin Laden?
Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.
Here are some of them:
1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)
Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.

Glad that Malik is recovering and going home but the transport home looks dangerous for a child with such a serious injury. Those forces are showing profound compassion to save him, but that country is sorely in need of a medical system.
Soldiers at FOB Geronimo thoughtful calm to the point well spoken. Wishing them well.
Good night Isabel good night everyone.
Thank you all for being there Anderson. They really need to know they're not taken for granted or forgotten. .
Good Night Everyone! Thank you, Anderson for caring about all of our feeling!
good night everyone
Good night Anderson, thanks for another great show!
"At least we have our health."
God Bless all the troops! May you come home safe to your friends and family.
Good night all. I so pray this war can be over soon. All our soldiers are tired. They need to all come home to their families.
FAST night on the blog and lively too.
Thank you and good night Anderson et al and thanks to Wolf for helping out. Good night Erica & and all team 360.
This week's reporting has been stellar (& and likely not easy ).
Good night fellow bloggers. Enjoyed the conversation more than i can say!
Anderson
Have a nice day! In Afghanistan it's already September 11 ... a day of terrible memories for us all! Stay well!
Good night David and friends!
See you tomorrow!
I wish much peace to us all! Our world need and deserve this peace!
Those soldiers are so dedicated, they make me proud to be an American.
Good night all.
Sweet dreams.
Great use of the Shot to speak directly with the soldiers so that we can all hear their thoughts on the important work they're doing.
Thank you Anderson. These soldiers deserve individual recognition and a voice.
are all those Americans?
those people are true heroes?
Isabella!!
I hope she is treated good!
She is a hero too
Semper Fi Lt. Bennet!! 😀
Hope some of you are seeing your loved ones.
Afgahinstan war is way more complicated than the Iraq war. People in Afghanistan are either brain washed by Al Qeada or afraid of the the Taliban
Hey Anderson
Now i am really tired, hope i can get some sleep.Today it will be a buzzy day for me again
So all the best to you and the other Best CNN Team there, take care, stay safe
Can wait you all are safe back, sorry for the soldiers they have to stay there,
Have a good day from far away in Germany
I think that our troups are there to help the people. Not on a typical mission.
I want to get angry when I hear things like what Wison did. But then I see how Obama handles it and realize what a true adult is. Someone who looks past the silly stuff and keeps on track.
It was so good to see Malik attempting to walk again – let's hope he continues to make more progress now that he's returned home.
Fred,
I agree that Dr. Gupta is more valueable here than the White House. He made a good decision.
@Fred....he'd be missed greatly on CNN by viewers.
What a journey home for Malik.
First timer here. The country needs everyone to stand together now. We are at war, the economy has been devastated by greed and corruption. The civility of our nation has been in decline since President Reagan. I am disappointed by the group-think that permiates politics and the group behavior that results from it. The line has been crossed now, it doesn't matter who started it. Our democracy is Of the people, By the people and For the people. Elected officials need to remember that the Dems and the Gop are not mentioned and we could do without them . This is not a game. People are dying today because of a lack of affordable health care. Change is the only constant. Fear is a useless emotion so those of you screaming the sky is falling should knock it off.
The story of Malik has been astonishing. As Sanjay said, at first it didn't look good for him at all. Look at him now.
Anyone who has seen this story now knows how caring and wonderful our troops & military doctors are.
Thank you Sanjay for keeping us posted. In the midst of so much negative news, this story was a blessing.
That's an amazing story. Thank you Dr. Gupta.
hi, anderson.
thank you so much for such a dedicated report.
i think you lost weight in afghanistan.
please stay safe and take a good rest.
Good night all. I hope to see you tomorrow night. Remember the loved ones lost on 9/11.
cute kid
i'm glad he's recovering
What a story!
Sick child is one of the hardest things to watch and not always able to do something
@ David, Indiana
I think Rep. Wilson was inappropriate and even grossly, in your interruption. Perhaps there is no consensus for approval of a plan as ambitious as the health care reform because implies a severe cut in spending approved in previous budgets
i am so glad that the doctor is not Surgeon General!
he is doing better more meaningful work now!!!
I am very happy to hear about Malik, I wish him a full recovery!
He is a lucky boy!
I support the war in Afganistan. I did not support the war in Iraq when it was started. I always believed that we should have been in Afganistan. It is now the eve of 9/11. Let's think about what happened 8 years ago. We must support our troops in Afganistan and stand with President Obama to fight terrorism. We can never let happen again... something like the fall of the twin towers and the other attacks on our country. We must stand firm against terrorism.
That little Malik looks remarkably good inspite of his injuries.
Thank goodness that little boy is going home! Miracles do happen.
Those look like very complicate patrols. Is it naieve to say that village elder image blurred seems ready to be fully cooperative w/ the US?
If the Taliban would probably not go down the ideological road with Al Qaeda is that a break in the situation that could be taken advantage of? An additional chance for the Afghan govt to get it's footing in that country?
He didn't have an affair, just sex with two lobbyists, ok that's different.
@Sue from NH – your son is an amazing man, but I can imagine your pride must be tinged with worry.
i have a lot of resepct for Michael Ware
Yeah for Meleek!
Afghanistan scares me more than Iraq, and Pakistan even more. When will the end come over there...how can it end. How can we win or whatever in a place that just doesn't care..or hasn't seemed to for hundreds of years. And what right do we really have to push our beliefs on to them.
I am deeply disturbed by Rep. Joe Wilson's conduct. He should have been immediately ejected from the session. Whether you agree with President Obama or disagree, he deserves the highest respect as our nation's leader while delivering his address to congress. I was also disgusted by the actions of other republicans in the room, especially the one with the blackberry! The behavior was an embarrassment! It was obvious the actions of the Republican Party members were calculated and deliberate attempt to delay the process of resolution.
Anderson, what effect does the eroding American support for the Afghanistan mission have on the Marines morale?
Although I am grateful for the coverage of the the War in Afghanistan, I would like the American people to see how the Marines are living that aren't on the bases. I know that they some have been at least 30 days with no shower. The families are having to mail socks and underwear so they will have clean ones. They have no laundry. I know that they had been limited to one MRE a day with long patrols and extreme heat. The extra food they get comes from home. I know that saving Moleik(sp?) was a great thing for the docs to do but what about the American service members that are alive today because of those same doctors? Does the public really know how many have been sent home seriously injured?
There is no difference now between the GOP and the most unhinged, outermost rung of the Far Right – in constituency, "ideas" and comportment. Wilson's act was not only despicable but false in itself.
His behavior underscores the fact that our nation is divided now, not between right or left, or Democrats and Republicans, but between the decent and indecent. Wilson is the standard bearer for the latter.
