Dear President Obama #230: It came from Japan...

Reporter's Note: The President’s wife, Michelle Obama, like many First Ladies, enjoys broader popularity than her husband. But sitting so close to power can bring a lot of scrutiny, and sometimes a little strangeness; the subject of my daily letter to the Oval Office.

Dear Mr. President,

Has Michelle being acting ok lately? I ask only because the soon-to-be First Lady of Japan is being a little…how should I say it? Peculiar. Odd. Or in diplomatic terms, she seems to be holding the patent on bananas.

Have you heard about this woman? Miyuki Hatoyama’s husband, the incoming Prime Minister, appears to be your run-of-the-mill political sensation. But his wife is something else.

Here is a short list of her claims:

She was taken from Earth by a triangular UFO. This is patently false, of course. As we know from dozens of old movies and hundreds of grainy, black and white photographs, UFO’s are round. Oblong sometimes. Nebulous occasionally. Lutheran now and then. But never triangular.

She has been to the planet Venus and found it to be beautiful. Again, problems here. As we know from astronomy class, Venus is covered with an impossibly dense, poisonous atmosphere, which hovers somewhere above 800 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s like a smoking lounge at the Albuquerque airport.

She knew Tom Cruise in a previous life. Uh. Ok. I can’t find anything wrong with that.

Many of her tales are recorded in a book she wrote called “Very Strange Things I’ve Encountered.” I think I’m going to start a book like that. She’ll be my first entry.

On the subject of spouses, however, say congratulations; my wife and I are celebrating our 23rd anniversary today! Her patience is astonishing…and imagine, she’s never even had a previous life with a movie star!

Why isn't there any reporting on the President's green czar, Van Jones? This is just one of 30+ non-elected czars. How many others are like Jones and have his same opinions? The whole bunch should be gotten rid of. Where in the Constitution does it talk about czars?

Happy anniversary Tom and "better half". I don't know your wife's name nor do I need to. Weird Tom, the word is weird! Yes, the First Lady of Japan is weird. But maybe she should join the rest of us. Maybe we are all weird! Have you thought of that? I have! I mean, look, for example, at the screamers at the town hall meetings and the so called adults who want to pull their children out of schools on the days the President is supposed to speak there. I tend to think these people fit into that elusive category! But that's me! And I am just as weird as the next person, by my own admission! Let's just say I have my weird days! 'Nough said!

The question remains, does she really believe what she claims?
