Live Blog from the Anchor Desk 9/2/09

We’ve heard a lot about Phillip Garrido, the convicted sex offender who fathered two children with Jaycee Dugard, but his wife Nancy is also charged with Jaycee’s kidnapping and rape.

Also tonight part two of Drew Griffin’s investigation into the black market for human organs. Tonight you’ll see just how desperate some people are for Kidneys and we’ll introduce you to a man who preys on that desperation.

Nancy Garrido had the chance 15 years ago to let the girl when her husband was in jail. She exposed the victim and the victim’s children to danger and continued so for years. She is equally as guilty as her husband and should serve time her part in this horrific crime. Justice needs to be served

I don’t buy his story either, too! Chris Brown must learn own lesson, never hit woman at all. I don't accept his apology!

Re: Chris Brown...sounds like he's quoting from a "what to say after you are charged with domestic abuse" handbook. Please! How many times have we heard this before from other abusive men!

Before this health care business is over Obama will have enemies on both sides of the aisle.

Unfortunately, Chris Brown didn't "discuss" it...what he did by saying over and over that he wouldn't discuss what actually went down that night , "out of respect" for Rihanna, (yeah right!), was set the viewers up to think that she provoked the attack. The same thing that all OJ Simpson -like abusers do...it's never really their fault. So, yeah, he admits it, but doesn't remember it, and won't talk about why he did it-c'mon now...he is a liar, an abuser and he should be in jail thinking this all over. And people, please stop defending this little jerk, he bit her for crying out loud, he bit her!

Hey Cathy – I'm Bajan too – just live in Canada now- brrrrr.
I agree with you – mother can be supportive but really needs to recognize Chris is going to do this again if he doesn't get real

I think Lisa is absolutely right. As much as I hate it, I don't think law enforcement can protect us from these predators. We have to protect ourselves and our own children as best we can by whatever means are reasonable. Even then there is no absolute protection.

Thank you, Anderson, for continuing to cover the Dugar abduction. This story has the country's focus now but I am sure that there are many others who need help now and if people are more observant and ask questions we can rescue as many as possible. I hope that laws will be changed because of this and that these individuals are stopped before the living nightmares they inflict continue. This is a chance for the nation and the world to take notice and to be aware and to make positive changes.

Thank you to the people covering the story and those who will be changing the laws for the better.

    Good night.

    @Denise Brown

How can a woman stay with a man that abuses them and not believe that they say they will not do it again?

I think Chris Brown should be forgiven by the public. He acknowledges his wrongdoing and he has taken all of the blame even though it has been widely reported that Rhianna was the aggressor as she has been in the past. She is watching his career go down the drain without admitting any fault, accepting any accountability or publicly forgiving him. I've lost respect for her.

I believe Chris Brown is just young and hes finally starting to realize his mistakes. I think hes truly sorry for what he did. I'm glad hes getting some form of punishment though – nothing in this world will ever make what he did right.

Chris's public relations manager has instructed him what to say and how to act. Once an abuser, always an abuser.

Nancy Garrido is definitely not a victim, not to me. Not when she had the opportunity to clear herself from that criminal husband of hers. She is as guilty as he is; what is she going to say next? That he had her threatened from prison not to let Jaycee go? Come on, no one buys her story, at least I don't. Tell it to the judge Nancy Garrido, that's who you going to have to convince and if he or she has some sense of what real justice means, then they will lack you up and away right along with your husband the sicko! And please, have someone throw out the key. We don't need people like this out in this world and around our children!

Nancy had a chance to release Jaycee and her kids when her husband went back to jail for a few days, so that makes her just as guilty as her husband.

Anderson I love you and your show so much and I wanted to say that honestly and point blank I feel they should just lock up Phillip Garrido and throw away the key. This man is just a sick human being who does not deserve to live his life.

Can we find out why Mr. Garrido was released early and what has been done to protect our society when he was released? This is really sad but at the same time, makes me furious!

Victim in a way..yes However it is a lot more complicated I am sure, things uaually are, she married an inmate so her judgement was questionable from the start.

@Susan: I find it very sad and alarming that you as a woman (girl) don't seem think that beating up another woman is a despicable act of violence. Obviously you still admire Brown.

Besides all the "I was like wows" and "I don't knows" Chris continued to deliver, the interview failed to position Chris in the rehabilitation state he seemed to be aiming for. Unfortunately his poor ability to answer questions left many answer to be desired.

What a Sunday school interview! I could have had a V8! What was the arguement about Chris? The violence lies in that arguement. If you choose not t deal with it, you will not heal as you should. The violence will occur again with that guarded arguement.

There should be a city for them where they can live unto themselves.

They can't live near schools, parks, apartments where children are, why didn't the neighbors know he was a sex offender and why did they let children be there?

    Anderson,
    Hi!
Nancy Garrido seems too accepting of the situation to be a real victim. Though there are mental reasons why she would have become that way, it's no excuse for what happened over that length of time.

Nancy Garrido is no victim, she's probably scared that she's been caught and fears spending the rest of her life behind bars.

As a probation officer who supervises Sexual Offenders, I find that the living restrictions are more trouble than they are helpful. With such a mobile society these restriction do not help. Case in point, this guy lived 200 miles away from where she was taken.

Here's a question: If sexual predators cannot be rehabilitated as studies suggest, why not make 'child molestation' a mandatory life sentence? Why do we let them go and then why do we express shock when they act out on their impulses again?

i believe chris brown was sincere in his apology but i believe that his career is down the toilet after the incident. i wish them both (chris and rihanna) good luck in the future. domestic violence is very sad but they are just kids who made and incredible mistake. so give the guy another chance and actually hope for the best.

And, how could you not know that your husband keeping a little girl out back, outside was a crime. Even if it was his natural born kid it would still be wrong.

The president will not opt of the public option, is the insurance reform
bill about the public and the poor working folf's having health care insurance. Hey i have insurance but the ppl that don't could get me sick....so prevention..health care is a must....not a privilage.

U do not believe she is a victim. She knew what she was getting into when she married the monster. They have taken so much away from jaycee that all the coincelling in the world won't be able to replace. I hope one day she finds peace.
