The Centers for Disease Control
According to a 2006 Harris poll, approximately 33 million (or 15 percent of all U.S. adults) admit that they were a victim of domestic violence.
For more than 60 years, CDC has been dedicated to protecting health and promoting quality of life through the prevention and control of disease, injury, and disability. The CDC has extensive experience dealing with domestic abuse, and has resources that can help identify and prevent violence. It also refers people to a 24-hour national hotline for abuse victims.

I find it really offensive that your show portrayed women as the helpless victims of domestic violence. Yes, of course domestic violence is a huge problem! However, you failed to mention that studies show men and women are equally violent. That more than half of spousal murders are committed by women. That women are far more likely to use weapons against men. You failed to mention the gender bias in reporting that could make the number of abused men out to be far higher than women. The reporting that you did on your show last night, was completely and totally biased, and makes me wonder if you even bothered with research.
When asked about what was going through his head after the brutal beating of Rihanna, he responded he was ashamed of the way he had acted and was disappointed in himself. He never once said he was concearned with the health and emotional state of his girlfriend. I think this is an alarming detail because it shows an egotistical approach to the abuse he commited, and little if any concearn for the abused.
I will read this article. I read your blog sometimes. i like so much your job. congrats always. Candida medeiros from Rio
A woman whom I photographed suffered years of abuse. She is foreign and has 2 children now 15 and 14 years of age. Both DSS and DA’s found her American ex-husband not guilty due to the lack of evidence and witnesses. The Court psychologist called the children liars and threatened the minor with foster home if they refuse to unite with their father, this threat was done in front of both parents’ attorneys, and later admitted the threat to the pediatrician, furthermore, the Court psychologist told the children and their mother that the Judge does not decide their fate but it is him who holds the decision.
Since then, I have met several women whom experienced similar situation and it seems that the American law, more precisely the law in the State of MA protects the abuser over the victims.
On September 10th, the woman I just mentioned returns to the Middlesex County Family Probate Court in Cambridge, Mass to hear her children’s fate in front of Judge Kagan, and very likely without an attorney. I pray for their safety and the wisdom of the Judge,
A shame, poor boy, poor girl, poor boy's mother, poor society.
Chris Brown is a total F.A.K.E everything he said, the tone of his voice, that's how all abusers do, they get squeaky and appoligize but when asked to step up and be a man about it he fell back on "protecting Rihanna" when what he should have been doing the whole time instead of beating her up he should have been protecting her.
I don't believe a word he said! He is not sorry, he wants everyone to forget, and it's too late. I'm a victim of domestic violance and his response to it is the same response my ex-husband gave, and I see no remorse.

Well, fought very hard for many years for domestic violence I had a very sad story. Married for 23 to a severe abuser, I went to and wore out over 4 psycologists, trying to seek help. They more or less just gave up and were so confused that they actually could not handle it all. I went to the best psyciatrist that was well known to be the best, He charged like devil, but, the way I was, I thought I needed the best. I ran out of money on the 34d visit. He forgave the amounts I owed and continued to listen. At the end of each session, he stated, that I answered my own questions. For the life of me, I could not figure out what questions I had answered. After leathy ranks by my self of what he had done, I was asked, "Could I do that to him"/ Answer. "No". With that he would say, that I answered my own question. When finally, when I was even more confused, I asked him what he meant.
He stated something very simple. "People do not hit or abuse people if they love them." Poeple who hit people do not love the people they abuse. Words are just words, actions speak louder. Cycles of abuse, yes, the "I am sorrys" the "I will make it up to you" "if you only would not do things that make me angry"" Putting the blame on the abusee. Do I believe this guy? No. He is like a pedofile, can he change? no YOU ASKED HIM IF HE LOVED HER, PEOPLE DO NOT HIT AND ABUSE PEOPLE THEY LOVE. PERIOD.
Out of that situation, I would never put myself in situations of abusing people ever again. stay around people that build you up. One small statement leave. Anything abusive, leave. They only get worse, when you stay or forgive them you give them a license to do it or worse again. Life is just too short, this guy does not remember? More excuses.
Ms Brown, sorry, she should have fought harder for her sister. I saw the way she condoned OJ during the trial, AND AFTER. I lived with an OJ, nearly cost me my life. I HAD NO ONE TO HELP ME. UNTIL NEAR DEATH, I FIGURED IT OUT FOR MYSELF.At that time, police did nothing. I called so many times.
Chris Brown said alot of nothing. It's one thing to look stupid but it's another to be stupid when you open your mouth. I can't believe that Mark Garagos sat their and let him say what he did.. Chris is definitely not helping his career.
tommy beat pamela charlie beat denise and they are still making movies give the young man abreak you kave tommy and charlie a break
okay keep shoving it under rug you'll can't handell the truth
I feel that Chris Brown needs to be given a 2nd chance. It's funny to me how some people have never ever seen someone "black out" and not remember what it is that they have done. It can and does happen. This young man is just that, a young man. I don't see why his career needs to suffer because of a mistake that he made. I find it quite crazy that his one main incident is causing quite a stir. I work for a major telecommunications company and it's amazes me how many women call in scared of their husbands/boyfriends and the only thing we can say is call the authorities who will tell them that they can't do anything unless something happens. You have the average Joe Schmoe beating on his wife every day and he still has a job. If every man who committed the same crime went to jail, there would need to be jails created just for them. We see all these lifetime movies that are true stories and the women have to go through so much for the average man to either stop or wind up killing them. It took one hit for me to "black out" and gain super human strength and let my then boyfriend know that was never gonna happen to me again and that's exactly how i've remained. Sometime u can not control ur actions if u get just that mad. It doesn't matter if ur the victim for the attacker. There comes a time when u get so mad that any and everything around u dissipates and u just don't remember what happened next. Anyone who has ever been in a fight knows this. It's amazing how many sheltered people there are in this world.
Chris Brown doesn't realize it now, but he is so lucky that his violent actions were stopped in it's tracks at such an early age. I know he's angry right now because he got caught, but getting caught was the best thing that could happen to him.
He needs to shelf his ego, go humble ... so he can hear the wisdom that his domestic abuse counselors will teach him, as well as his spiritual adviser who reads and abides in God's wisdom from the Bible.
It takes courage to live a righteous life. It's easy to be the fool in life. That's why so many take the easy ego route giving everyone lip service and lie, lie, lie about everything..
Once Chris learns how to live righteously, step by step ... he will learn that he can be the best that he was meant to be. Guess what Chris, once you practice these lessons of righteousness, they become second nature to you!
Peace.
As far as i feel these women get what they deserve. There as been an increase in women coming to these shelter for abusive women becasue they choose a fool who beats them. So, i do not have any sympathy for them. These women want bad boys and the men with an edge...they got it...to hell with them. I wish it increase more by the end of this year...stupid women.
Why do men think they can solve all their frustrations with their fists?

i feel like everybody is looking at it just becauses he's a guy he's suppose to be powerful... im kind of upset about it, what if she would've beat on him the media woudnt be concerned about it... I mean come on lets be real... How can beat her up like that and he's driving 1 hand had to stay on the wheel... If she felt like he beat her so bad why didnt she call the police... Sounds kind of crazy... Everybody is askin why he didnt talk about the incident why hasn't she... she was there too... She hasn't talked about it neither.. Im glad he didnt put her on blast...The Media is like porn everybody wants to see it and see whats new but in the end sometimes its fake.
I think it's a shame that everyone is looking to Chris Brown, who is barely out of his teens, be the voice of abusers, to say something that would change the reality of domestic violence all over this country. Everyone thinks he should have said more, but no matter what he said people would complain. I really feel sorry for this young man because there is NO way to live up to everyone's expectations, especially when you are so young and trying to make sense of your own life.
I believe that we as people have wasted to much time on this whole Chris Brown issue. Millions of ordinary women get abused every day and it's never turned into a media blitz.
I am not an advocate for any male to hit a female (domestic violence), but there are a lot of relationship where the female is the violent party. I know because I was in a relationship of such. After studying Criminal Justice, the crime that does not get reported is when the female assaults the male. I agreed that no one should put their hands on the other, but we have to let females know that it is not right nor is it fair for them to hit males. This is where a lot of domestic violence starts. After time, the males are sick and tired of being hit so they start doing the hitting. Key point: Females abuse males more than visa-versa.
Chris Brown's performance on Larry King tonight may just win him an oscar,
That was one fine ACT. If anyone falls for that they will fall for anything
