Larry King Live
Pop star Chris Brown has admitted guilt and apologized for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in February, but he does not remember hitting the singer, he told CNN's Larry King.
Looking at police reports about the incident makes him feel like he's reading about a stranger, Brown said in his first television interview since the arrest.
"I'm in shock, because, first of all, that's not who I am as a person, and that's not who I promise I want to be," he said in an exclusive interview that airs Wednesday night.
"I just don't know what to think. I'm just like, wow," Brown said. "It's crazy to me."
Brown, 20, said he still loves singer Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
But, he added, it is tough for him to look at the photo showing Rihanna's battered face, the one image that might haunt and define him forever.

Violent behavior is a severe problem! He is young and no real education at age 20 in a fit of rage. It seem more fitting that he have more mental treatment on anger mangagement.
Tonight they revealed there was violence in his home growing up. His Mother was there, tearful and silent of this abuse. They say, 'children learn what they live.'
He doesn't want to talk about what he did in the interview. I think he got off light without serving some jail time for this horrid assualt, not just probation and community service.
Why was Denise Brown on the show? She stood by many years–SILENTLY–and watched her sister be battered by O.J. Simpson. Why? because he lavished gifts on her and her family. Now that Nicole's gone, she's such an activist against domestic violence. Next time, Anderson, please get more authentic guests to speak on an issue.
Usually, I'm a fan of Anderson Cooper, but I think the coverage of Chris Brown's interview with Larry King was a real cheap shot. Perhaps, when Brown agreed to appear on the show, he either expressly or impliedly signaled that he would break new ground. He didn't. But that's no excuse for stacking the deck against him in a post-interview discussion led by the sister of a woman who was brutally slain and a woman who once headed Planned Parenthood and now runs a feminist organization. Rihanna has had ample opportunity to bash Brown and she hasn't. Perhaps Brown told the truth when he said he would not discuss details of the beating incident out of respect for her. The post interview discussion and poll was bad journalism.
i agree with all the points on domestic violence stated however, i belive that it's time that this young man needs some positive male adult supervision. also the demonizing by the media of chris brown needs to stop. its time for him to move on with his life.
It seems that when a young black man is in the spotlight, it is almost sure to be negative. I am not for any abuse, but it seems you are more than willing to exploit there misery. How about the white police officer who killed the black police officer and was let go! This is the problem with you parasitic people/companies. You report superficial news when there are major concerns going on in the world. Heaven forbid we don't hear about Michael Jackson or Chris Brown in a domestic dispute. How about the numerous people battered every day. Guess they don't make enough. Nice work.
I don't care about another rapper who is in trouble. Maybe this will fuel enough guilt to summons up a few "guilt" songs.
I would like to see some interviews about someone who is making a difference in the world toward the good.
if this were any other person they would be thrown in jail regardless of who they were. either a manager of a big time company or just your average person, they would go to jail just like that. point is he hit a woman no wait he beat her up is what he did and all he get's is five years probation and what ever else he was given on top of that.maybe the next guy who beats up his significant other should ask for five years probation and see what the justice sytem tells him,he'll probably get cuffed an orange jumpsuit and a traditional bus ride accompanied by 2-10 years in prison. take michael vick for example, lets face it the man was caught and admitted what he did and was punished for it. he looses everything and now has to start all over again he did his time, and that was for dog fighting. chris brown should do his jail time not no slap on the wrist five years probation, with poosible prison sentencing if he does it again. i think everyone can agree that YOU CAN REPLACE AN ANIMAL BUT YOUCAN'T REPLACE A HUMAN LIFE. everyone is entitled to their opinion but people who do this should be prime examples of what consequnces may come to you if you do this stuff to a woman
How come it's ok for superstars to break the law, pay money and get a lesser punishment than someone with less fame. In that case there shouldn't be no laws if money pays the price of punishment. The world is pretty much saying superstars are abouve the law, as well as telling the fans that it's ok to hit women, just throw us some cash and your good to go, "do it again". Maybe its not healthcare reform Obama should be speaking about, or MJ being dead or alive, maybe it's time to crack down on the people with money getting away with what ever they want cause they got money. Life maybe unfair but the justice system should be fair no matter how much money you can toss.
He doesn't remember beating her? OK Ike if you say so. unfortunately there are dozens of girls with low self esteem waiting to stand by this guy. But we are all a product of our environment and up bringing. Who really is to blame here? May they both seek the phycological help they seem to need.
Give me a break....are you actually telling me that bowties are in just like "Larry's" suspenders. He is the only one that can get away with a fad that faded years ago. Give it up Chris, you need rehabilitation, not a clean cut look from the 50's for the sake of selling another hit.
I think Chris need's a break. You don't know what went on in that car and we heard one of your guest say that mental abuse is a common problem in relationships. I think the reason people always air on the side of the women is because they use a thing called soft power in relationships. For him to do what he did to her something really wrong needed to be said or done. I have grown up with a mother that mentally abused her boyfriends, my uncle, and me. But yet she always seemed to come out on the right, or innocent side of the argument. Yet she was usually starter, and the common denominator in ever argument .
i feel that everyone is trying to get this young man because they have had bad relationships in their lives. no one is taking in to consideration what rhianna has put this young man through. it is not right for no one to put their hands on anyone. do we know how many time she has hit him or even been crazy around him. there are lots of jealous partners be it male or female who drives the other nuts. this young man is just beginning his life. it is unfortunate that an older young woman who got caught up with a young handsome star did not have control over her rages either. rhianna has admitted to cracking her brother over the head for messing with her. there is so much that is not uncovered in this. labeling this young man does not help either one of these young people out. my hopes is that both learn from this. they both are in the lights and cameras for all to see. of course love does not hurt. it goes both ways. what is her responsibility in this? she kept saying that she provoked the situation. she knows what she did. but because the media is involved, she have to be the victim. she knows that young man loves her and she has sense enough to get away if she need to. she did not want to but she had no choice due to the media. trying to compare him with oj simpson's situation is terrible. or ike turner. there are no records of abuse from childhood until he took up with rhianna. it has been enough time for others to come forth. he states he did not like how his mother was being treated and i really believe he does not want to hurt others. he is paying for his part in this and society with our perfect selves will keep his nose to the grinder. he has been a gentleman not to smear anything that rhianna has done to him. he is keeping it private because he loves her. now watchful eyes will be upon both to see how they handle future relationships. but for now, you all leave this young man and woman alone and let them get on with their lives. take the battered peoples situations on a case by case basis. we are in times that try mens souls. lets keep it real.
Do I Buy his apology? Well the only person that can judge Chris for what he did is GOD. Chris knows what he did was wrong and he admits he made a mistake. I do beleive that he is sorry for what he did, He doesnt say much because of the stipulations behind it! Unless you have gone through what Chris or Rhiana has gone through you cannot say why he nor she responded the way they did to the situation. you dont have to be a violent person to become abusive. No one can say that he will HIT again? Maybe we should offer help! of course he remembers! Hes embarrsed. everyone is down his neck hes trying to fix his image. The first step is admit he was wrong and he did. If you can offer him help then do so! Rhiana is the victim shes the one that has to forgive him NO one else! We all have opions! please dont beat me up for this
everyone has a choice in life, and brown choose to hit poor rihanna, i mean he could of gave more details on the show
i really understand him and i think hes regreted so bad...he accepted his mistakes n dat makes him the best man..
He did a poor job in convincing me that he was truly sorry. I just think he is doing this to gain support from his fans. I just hope his fans can see that he is a coward. A coward that hit a woman. Which is NEVER okay and it cannot be fixed by a simple apology.
Poor boy, poor girl, poor society. Can we allow these troubled young people heal in private? What in our society makes us predators on the weaknesses and private pain of the rich and famous. It is as if society lurks around like the paparazzi to "see what dirt can be dragged up from the bowels of the earth," true or untrue about the rich and famous. Does this make our small, seemingly pitiful, insignificant lives seem larger and in 3D? Well folks it ONLY makes us all look more like the stupid backwards nation others view us to be!

As a fan of Chris Brown and his music and as a black woman I was hoping to feel better about listening to his songs again after seeing his Larry King interview, but I was left annoyed even more. First of all why was his mother and lawyer there, he can't answer for himself like an adult, second he didn't answer the questions with any clarity, he talked in circles and gave these half ass answers. And finally where was the remorse for the physical and emotional pain Rihanna will likely forever suffer, and what is he planning on doing to seek counseling as well as speak out actively against relationship/domestic violence especially to young people like himself. If he wants his fans to return or continue to support he needs to do a real interview where he alone explains his actions. Even Michael Vick started working with an animal rights agency and gave a hell of alot better apology and explaination.
I use to admire Chris Brown, now I really despise him as an artist and a human being. I'm sorry does not cut it! His mother also needs to wake up and get some help! His mom had the balls to say she does not think that Chris Brown observing physical violence as a child had no effect on him and that it did not cause him to act this way! Come on!! Yes, it has all to do with it!! I hope Rihanna never gives him another chance! She deserves much better than him!
Any man that abuses women in any way should pay for his crime eregardless of what position he holds in life wether he be a celebrity or a child. Abusing women shows some type of cycle in that persons life. Saying i am sorry works only when one wines enough..however any man that treats any woman with a degree of disrespect and hate needs serious counseling.
Also what does it profit a man to have a family if the only intended use of this family to become dead later on from any man that happens to have a violent past or present bahavior.
America needs to wake up and watch out more for these people. Its not just the obvious we have to watch out for. Chris Brown's case is not an exception to this. Chris knows how to act like a gentleman. He has no excuse to act otherwise. Mentally incapistation is no excuse. I know i have some freinds that is considered as such however they know their limits and and go by them accordingly. However i will say this abusing your mate is not a sign you love them. Its a sign you may want to chose to dominate her and make her choices for her. Each man violent or not...needs to learn that a way to a woman's heart is through the fact of being a gentleman. Chris Brown should be considered a sexual offender.
Screaming and yelling at his girlfriend while she is busy on tour is not love...its called doing something really unwise. Noone will listen to anyone who yells and screams at them. Abuse is not love...its just called being really really stupid.
It's funny how all the hollier then thous have piled on this 19 year old kid, " black kid" . This is the same nation the discrimanates against all that is not white. Blacks are less than three percent of the population, yet seventy percent of the jails. It seems to me that the Chris Browns and Barry Bondes of this nation will always be held to a higher standard. I believe most white crime goes unreported. The cop takes the white kid home, but the black kid goes to jail. Wake up people, we hold these people more accountable then we do our leaders, the ones who have real power over our lives.
i jus wish that night chris would of thought b4 he acted..but i forgive him..because everybody messes up..and all you can act 4 is forgiveness...
I do think that Chris Brown is sorry as well as embarrassed for what he did, but deffinately very sorry. I work at one of the hotels where Chris Brown stays and he usually stays with us for a month or more at a time. I have seen him in the hallways as well as in our hotel lobby and Chris is the sweetest thing with all his fans all the time. He ultimately made a mistake that he is really sorry for and will pay the consequences. Regardless I am still your #1 Fan Chris, and I will continue to purchase and listen to your music. No doubt about it.
We are all human and I'm 100% sure that we have all done something that we regret in life.... No one is Perfect
While I do believe Chris Brown has a thing for Rihanna...
Do I belive him? Who could get past the baby blue Perry Como Sweater with the bow tie.
Check out the pix on the net. It's a contrived outfit for to dup his public.
Keep it real Chris. Baby blue bowtie? Not since Mr. Rogers have I seen such an outfit and you're way more of a fashion plate.
If you can't be real, then what you're saying is just spin. He is clearly seeding the public to try to get back with her,I don't buy it. He can take time to grow up, and she should move on.
Talented singers though and great songs...It's very sad.
