Missing boy's mom: Jaycee's story 'makes my heart smile'

News of Jaycee Dugard's safe return after 18 years in captivity gives Patty Wetterling hope.
Wetterling's son Jacob is still missing after a gunpoint abduction almost 20 years ago near their home in St. Joseph, Minnesota.
"Jacob was with his best friend and his brother. They witnessed it," Wetterling says, recalling that day back in October 1989. "They saw this masked man with a gun."
Jaycee Dugard's return "is reaffirming," Wetterling adds. "There are cases where nobody believed [the children] were coming home, and they did. This is one. So for me, it makes my heart smile. It's a success."

Isn't there something else that can be done about these horrible predators? Because obviously nothing is working so far. I still cannot seem to wrap my mind around someone actually taking young children for such a sick reason. I think I could be forgiving if it were some poor sick soul who just wanted a child to raise as thier own,, but "that", oh god I can't even say it, no!

i have prayed many times for all missing children to be returned to safety to their families. by the grace of God may he bring them all home and protect others from the same fate.
Jacob was the first person I thought of when I heard about Jaycee. Being from MN he is my mind a lot. My prayers are with Jaycee and her family as they reconnect and heal, and with the Wetterlings for hope.
After hearing about the case in 'Austria', I knew there had to be others like that. Then Jaycee is found with two children. It's good to know this mom can smile in her situation even though pained by a child's loss from so long ago.
My heart and hope goes out to all parent's and families of missing family members.
Jacob has such a lovely smile. I hope your wish that he comes home comes true.
With all the attention due to the Dugard case,this will keep law enforcement & the PAROLE board on their toes. The blame for this travesty rests on the shoulders of the Parole Boards when they allow these sex offenders to go free. How the police & the parole personnel missed this is beyond comprehension.
I hope Jacob shows up safe and comes home to his mother soon. It has to be terrible to not know where your child is or what happened after the child was taken. Hopefully some more children will turn up because of this and the increased awareness it brings to the subject.
