Live Blog from the Anchor Desk 08/31/09

We’re keeping a close eye on a fast-moving California wildfire that’s threatening thousands of homes and businesses outside Los Angeles—and has trapped five people who ignored evacuation orders.

And we now have a much clearer picture of what the last 18 years have been like for Jaycee Dugard, the young woman who was found last week 18 years after her kidnapping. Investigators are combing the secret backyard compound where Dugard was allegedly forced to live–and where she apparently gave birth to the two daughters her captor fathered. We’ll show you what investigators found inside the squalid makeshift compound of tents and sheds.

OK, Michael Jackson died 2 months ago. I'm pretty sure there is so much more going on that we need to worry about in the United States or at least the World!

Was Chris Brown on drugs? Does he suffer from a mental disorder? That's usually why you don't remember. Or, you don't want to take responsibility for your actions or, worse, you feel justified and feel you don't have to explain yourself. All i can so is shake my head.

As a republican, Dick Cheney makes me sick to my stomach. We need to move on. This man comes out under his rock every 2 months to talk about National Security evethough Obama's plolices have not change that much except maybe for torture. He needs to go away. I mute the TV or change the Channel every time he appears. He makes me uneasy.

Regarding Matin Stewart's comments. I feel the pain you suffered re: Guillian Barre. I will never get the flu shot after my mother's episode. We almost lost her and she has never been the same since.

I saw a Michael Jackson look-a-like driving around town just last week. It was wierd–the person really did look like him–but I figured this sort of thing would be common now.

I can hear Chris Brown's agent and stylist "if you wear baby blue and a bowtie, you'll look innocent." Give me a break.

Hmmm I respect Chris Brown as an artist, cause he is an amazing artist... but what he said about no remembering beating Rihanna I was like... This is the "It wasn't me cause I dont remember doing it" thingy. Please... Face it man.

Does Randy know MJ is alive?

I am worried about the long term effects of the Swine flu vaccine, but I'd rather take that option than dying from the disease. That thought alone is scary. And some people need to be more careful about their hygiene, all this coughing and sneezing around healthy people is insane and careless. I got sick at the beginning of this year because of a co-worker, who wouldn't stop coughing and she didn't even care to cover her mouth...careless people are as dangerous as the disease itself.

Is Chris Brown kidding with that innocent "little boy" look–light blue sweater and bow tie? That's completely staged for image.

He can't remember, but certainly Rihanna remembers of the marks he left it.

A 101 degree temperature is not high, that's a perfectly normal reaction to a viral infection and people should not be encouraged to stop that reaction.

It is a defensive mechanism, not a symptom to be abolished. When the fever is suppressed, the virus has the opportunity to grow and replicate. In the end, fever-reducers prolong an infection. They do absolutely nothing to speed the healing process.

There are plenty of non-drug methods to keep a fever of 103 and higher in check, including cool baths, wet towels on the head and in the arm pits, etc. Additionally, they need to drink as much water as possible as well, to help keep their temperature controlled.

Eat whole foods, reduce sugar intake, get plenty of rest and water and your chances of being susceptible to the virus is greatly reduced.

@Mike, Syracuse, NY, By the time this flu vaccine is "ready" this particular strain will have mutated into something else and the vaccine will be useless and then they will have to start all over again to come up with a new vaccine. It is a losing battle.

I am very interested in what Dr. Sanjay Gupta just said about flu vaccinations. My mom received a flu shot and two weeks later was diagnosed with Guillan Bare. The doctors and therapists all thought it was likely due to the flu shot although no empirical evidence exists. She visited her neurologist the other day and he said she is to stay away from the flu shot.

Chris Brown doesn't remember beating up Rihanna? Honestly, that's going too far. Denial just adds to the problem, Chris.
