Funeral services for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy will begin Thursday, August 27, with events scheduled through Saturday, when he'll be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

Thanks to CNN for covering Senator Kennedy's Complete wake, funeral and burial instead of just highlights. So many of us wanted to be in Washington D.C. and could not. I know that Saturday was a VERY long day for all the reporters. But just imagine how long the day felt for his widow and grieving family.
Senator Teddy worked hard and tiredlessly, until the end, even his funeral went into the night. So like the Senator. Thank You Senator, Thank you for all you have done, for all the people!
As I recall, Christ was an advocate of the poor and average Joseph. I don't think he spewed the kind of venom and hate that conservatives and "christian" right have directed at Senator Kennedy, and toward the Kennedy's in general. What hypocrisy! What Senator Kennedy has done for the poor and middle class seems to be walking the path Christ directed. His human frailty is common to all of us, including Christ's disciples.

I have just returned home to the US after 30 yrs in europe.. Teddy Kennedy passed away as I arrived home...I am nearly 61 years old. I remember President Kennedy's Inauguration Day as it snowed heavily in NYC (Staten Island) & Washington..I travelled to see my Grandmother on the bus to Tomkinsville all through the snow just to watch it on TV as Gran was Irish and loved the idea of the 1st RC President...as we watched the sun was in the eyes of Robert Frost as he read his poem and I believe a fuse blew in the microphone..he was stalwart and kept reciting by heart...the bright sun was like an omen of the opening years of the Kennedy legacy and the fuse blowout an omen of the darker side which was to come upon the Kennedy's and our nation...I never forgot that black & white image on the TV...yesterday you and your colleagues gave the most "awesome"
(as my godchildren say) coverage of the funeral service for Teddy Kennedy...
I sat mesmerized the whole day like I did of JFK's funeral when I was a teenager..however this time I felt like the funeral was of a man I knew or would love to have known...weren't his son's terrific in what they spoke to us..remembering the incidents of Teddy's life as I read them in the morning papers over the years I never had an inkling of what a good and heartfilled man he was...all the little details he performed ringing and writing and keeping in touch with people of other personal tragedies 911/soldiers families etc. taking care of the neices and nephews..we heard this but now we have been allowed to be inside with the family and hear just how good he was to his word to his brothers..
His faith and belief in God is a testament for all of us..we realise now the tragedy of the death of the young woman was a burden and cross he bore for all his life and he regretted and repented of it..Teddy knew and beleived in the forgiveness of God and he lived this out in his own response to the sins against him.....he has met his Maker and now rests in that peace of the sure and certain Hope of God's Love for each of his children
I could go on, but the purpose of my writing is to say a Huge thank you to all of you at CNN....yourself, your panel.all the tecnicians..everyone for bringing history,peace and love into our homes yesterday..the coverage was amazing..never boring ..and each of you spoke forthrightly, truthfully with humour and poignancy as to your own personal memories of Teddy Kennedy..John King too, and dear old Roland brought the" buddy down home" touch making us feel like we were there with all of you in person..THANKS VERY MUCH!!
Finally..thanks to the Kennedy family..seeing them all now grown up and with their own children and grandchildren was simply superb..and dear Ethel, Jean and Sargent Shriver made the dream of Camelot and it's fruitition most poignant...May the Roads Rise With You and May He hold you Always in the palm of His Hand...God Bless! Thank you for the wonderful coverage of Senator Kennedy's final tribute. As a Mother who loves her children as much as he did, I can't help commenting on the lightning strikes we all saw at the graveside services for Teddy.
As dusk and darkness came, the Priest appropriately mentioned the end of the day, as does the end of life. I couldn't help thinking that one last time Teddy was sending a message to his family that he loved their tribute, and wanted to add light to their darkness. He wanted them to know that he would always be there for them, even from heaven.
A great man, a very powerful man. How can you replace someone such as Kennedy that made the White House his house, and its occupants his tenants. The senate will miss him greatly.
I, as a Roman Catholic, believe that Ted Kennedy helped many Americans live their real life. I had a son that was in a wheel chair, vent dependant, from a swimming pool accident, who needed the Americans with Disabilities Act, I never believed that Ted Kennedy would never get that act into congress. Many Americans need that. I grew up with all of the Kennedy brothers, just as many Americans did, and never forgot them. I was moved to tears listening to his sons talk about their Father, what a wonderful man he was.and how he stuck up for the little man. I will never forget what I saw on TV today. I cried like he was my Father. May God bless him and his family. And by the way, I think President Obama did the most wonderful job any man could do. May Ted Kennedy rest in peace.

You did it again!!!!!! You cut off the last of the moving moments of the burial of Sen. Kennedy at Arlington. No mention and only a brief glimpse of family members laying flowers on the casket. Then a half second of family members gathered at JFK's grave. Your lack of sensitivity and emotion becomes more evident with every day. Please talk among youselves about these issues and try to rescue CNN's reputation as a truthful honest news organization and quit referring to yourselves as "the best political team on television"
On your facts on Arlington National. in your facts you forgot to mention the tomb of the unknown soldiers.
The Tomb is guarded 24-hours-per-day and 365-days-per year by specially trained members of the 3rd United States Infantry (The Old Guard).

The "Catholic Flag" on Senator Kennedy's casket is referred to as a funeral pall in the Catholic Church.
Anderson...could you please replay the Prayers of the Faithful read by the grandchildren of Sen Kennedy during the Mass this morning?
I don't know if my previous question was correctly worded. I was wondering who were the people who sat on the Kennedy side at the funeral Mass prior to the family coming in for the service. While the majority of the section was empty, there were several people sitting by themselves in the mostly-empty pews. Thanks.

Ted Kennedy had the desire to change. No one could have made that happen unless he wanted to do it.
Listening to CNN now awaiting the hearse from Andrews Air Force Base.
In the early 1970s when Senator Richard Russell died at Walter Reed, his hearse brought him past the east front of the Capitol on its way to Andrews AFB for the return flight to Georgia. It was winter, no tourists!, but capitol staffers lined the steps as they are doing now.
The crowds were not as big, but it has happened before!
Did anyone notice the children waiting at the senate building with the three signal flags – E – M – K. Very appropriate symbols.
I see that those who espouse the love of Christ still can't come to grips with "sinners." It is beyond sad, and even beyond pathetic that the "Christian" community expresses this vile hypocrisy of theirs, offering no hint of condolence for those who feel sorrow at Senator Kennedy's passing.
These "Christians" offer the same vitriol offered their Christ during His darkest time. If that is Christ's love, I'll do without. If that is Conservative compassion, then it should be shunned. God bless Senator Kennedy for the good he has done for the common among us. That seems quite Christian and is enough for me.
Who were the people sitting on the Kennedy side at the Mass this morning before the family arrived. There seemed to be 4 or 5 people in the middle of all the empty pews. Thanks.
I really appreciate seeing Anderson Cooper wearing a purple tie today. That subtle mark of respect shows the elegance of underlying principles he so often personifies. It is a tribute to the 47 years Senator Kennedy devoted to serving our nation.
And Anderson serves our country in his way, always respectfully, always a cut above, an unmistakeable 'shibui' – understated elegance.
Anderson, I've never seen you so detached and disinterested in the proceedings of any event . It broke my heart. Why didn't you ask your bosses to excuse you from making any comment on this momentous occasion. Clearly you have no respect for the Senator or his family and you should not have been forced to particiate in this memorial service. Recently it seems that you are at your best when you are reporting on tabloid events. You seem so comfortable in this venue. Don't be afraid to speak up for yourself. I have just been listening to the dumbest commentary I have ever heard on CNN. At the conclusion of the funeral service for Sen. Kennedy, the commentators are actually discussing why the President's speech was not more political. Good grief (no pun intended)! This is a funeral! I cannot believe the subject has even come up in the discussion. I usually turn to CNN for news, but this is just ridiculous.
My heart has been so full since the news of Senator Kennedy's death.
I am completely at a lost for words. He was a great man that acccomplished great things in his 47years in Politics, he has endured more than most of us can even imagine in his lifetime .We can only hope for the next generation of Kennedy's to continue on with their great legacy.Gone but will never be Forgotten. We Love You Teddy.

I truly believe that he was a profile in courage. I thank Senator Kennedy for all that he accomplished for all of us and for all that he tried to accomplish to make this United State of America. May he rest in peace with his amazing brothers.

I enjoyed your coverage of the Memorial Service for Senator Kennedy. Yes, it ran long with tribute, laughter and song. The only disappointment was the way in which the end of the ceremony was cut off so that we could be subjected to still more of your endless and arrogant pontification. I wonder. Is it in any way conceivable to you that the words of real people with real ideas and feelings might be more interesting than listening to a group of media morons massaging one other? Has it occurred to you that we don't need you to explain "the meaning", re-write "history" or describe our own thoughts and feelings to us? Perhaps you could consider that a group of real people singing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" said more about the "meaning", displayed more true feeling and captured the historical significance of this event better than any words of ignorance that could drop from your mouths. Maybe covering actual events rather than talking about them is what journalism is really about. Maybe that's the difference between a journalist and a talking head; your head spends so much time talking it is no longer able to think. A true journalist knows when to speak and when to observe. Tonight was one of those occasions when you should have just shut up.
I have been watching the farewell to Senator Edward Kennedy and I think the family has been doing a wonderful job. I am a little disappointed that not one person has even acknowledged Joan Kennedy. She and Ted Kennedy were married for 25 years. They had three children together. Everyone has poured on the praise for Vicky Kennedy and that's wonderful, but Joan was the one who was by his side through so many of the tragedies in Ted Kennedy's life. I hope Joan will be comforted and thanked along with her children and Vicky and her children. Then, I think, the farewell to Senator Kennedy will be perfect. Rest in peace, Senator.
After watching so many photos and videos of Ted Kennedy and his families suffering they all had a wonderful sense of Humor..They were such wonderful role models..We love you Ted Kennedy with warts and all!!! I am so blessed that i lived at a time when We had such honorable Leaders..
Was it really necessary to cut off the last five minutes of Senator Kennedy's memorial service? I had to hear from my sisters, who watched MSNBC, that 'When Irish Eyes Are Smiling' was played and the whole room got up and sang. Thanks CNN.

Thank you for transmiting this broadcast via CNN International, which I have been blessed to watch via cable TV. It has been a special opportunity to virtually “siting inside the hall” at the John F. Kennedy Library and to listen to great speeches celebrating the life and work of Sen. Ted Kennedy. I admired President John F. Kennedy and was thrilled and enthusiastic on his visit to our country back in 1963, only a few months before his assassination. My generation was influenced by political winds from all parts of the world, yet many of us see the United States of America as an ally and a friend through the vision of the Kennedys in public service positions. Thank you CNN for letting many of us in Latin America to be part of history as it develops. Thank you, Mr. Cooper.
How do I get a copy of the wake held tonight at the Kennedy center. I was so entranced by it I did not record it to DVD and I want to have it. It is a glorious thing with many good messages for my grandchildren.
As an American marry to a Canadian and living in Canada. I remember the Kennedy and their ability to reach out to the everyday person....Why? some would ask...because that was the way they lived! With the community of all, not just the above the community, WITHIN the community.
Many would be negative against those who have wealth and sometimes rightly so. But, there are those who believed in reaching out and remembering the human factor of this world in which we live.
My fathers family was from Pennsylvania and my mothers family was from North East Africa.....the division was definitely from two continents.
Was able to explore, through my small corner THE WAY KNOWLEDGE of seeing LIFE in all its truths. Yes, we all have a positive and negative sides, but that's how we learn... as did Senator Kennedy and many like him...This world, not only America, will always be a better place....As we have been touch in ways by their ability to live under the microscopes of time!

The only thing that I didn't appreciate was when John McCain left the podium he didn't go over to Vicky, she started to approach him, but he just kept on walking....I felt this was very disrepectful on his part.
CNN's coverage of the memorial service for Ted Kennedy on Friday night was spectacular. Hopefully CNN will do a little editing and run the whole thing again for those who missed it or didn't know about it. Superb celebration that really humanized Sen. Kennedy – the good and the not so good! Great job, CNN, for carrying it live.
It's 3am in Ireland, I have turned on my Television, and watched what I think is one of the most heartfelt speechs by a policitian, for his fellowman. Vice President Joe Biden spoke from the heart, in true respect and admiration for a man who had done so much for Him, and the people of Amercia. But he also did so much for the people of Ireland, the land of the his fore fathers. He and John Hume were the first people to see that the only way forward in Ireland, was to have inclusive politics, that was to include Sinn Fein and the IRA in any discussions. So thanks to his great vision and foresight we have peace in our land. May God Bless him, and May He Rest in Peace

A fitting and uplifting tribute to a fine senator and family man. Just wondering what was up John McCain's butt that he couldn't even acknowledge Vickie when he left the podium? And please, I'm sure he has made his peace with Mary Jo and her family over and over again in his service to this country.
In watching the memorial service tonight, I found myself learning about the personal side of a man who has been in the Senate longer then I've been alive. The man, the politican, the husband, father, friend and caring individual who liked to joke and sing. I am humbled.
May he rest in peace secure in the knowledge of all the lives that he touched.
What a great memorial. Just a note that I was really impressed by Senator Hatch. He really humanized Ted Kennedy. You could tell that they were friends not hateful just because they diffed opinion on issues. I am a democrat but it gave me hope for the country when I saw both sides attend the memorial.

The Kennedy Brothers separated in life by so many tradgedies, etched in the minds of the American citizenry, have paid the ultimate
sacrifice for public service. Now, it is only fitting that they be laid to rest together, at Arlington National Cemetary. There they can be together for eternity and once again, laugh and sing Irish songs as they did when they were young.
I just wanted to express my condolences to the Kenndey Family.I didn't know theis great man personaly, but all my life I have grown up seeing his face on the news anytime you saw or heard something about Washington , there was Ted Kennedy. And he truly cared about the little man. I feel such sadness in my heart at his passing, for we have truly loss an American Treasure.I hope a family member will continue on in his footsteps,and keep his work on going in Washington.My father was a strong believer in the things that he stood for and those beliefs were instilled in me and my brothers.He gave us his best for 47 years let us never forget!!!

Its a sad day in america, as this country prepares to say goodbye to such an incredible man. Senator Kennedy is no doubt is heaven smiling and with his brothers once again. This may be the end of an era, as I have heard on the news, but let's promise of a new beggining, finishing what the kennedys started, as he said himself, let the dream live on. I recently read Ted Kennedy`s speech to the Democratic Convention in 1980- It should be read by all who feel a responsibilty for the planet we live on. It is brilliant and just as relevant to-day as it was nearly 30 years ago. Despite his failures he must have been one of the greatest in American politics. As a Norwegian , I salute him for his accomplishments – he was a welfare- state politician whom we have a lot to learn from.
Ted Kennedy a wicked hearted man who despised Gods truths. That's the true story of the Kennedys-rebellious deceivers. The Catholic traditions are an absolue mockery to who Jesus is and what he did for us! God bless! STUDY to yourselves approved!
This is the first time in my life that a Kennedy has not been in Congress; Ted Kennedy served our country so well and helped the average Joe well and consistently. He called upon the best in each of us and I shall miss hearing the lion roar on causes near and dear to him. His presence in our government is going to be sorely missed.
Do you think since Joan had been married to Ted for 24 long and difficult years she could at least get an honorable mention? Hopefully her children have included her during this time of mourning.
The era is gone, the world has changed. God bless Sen. Kennedy. Glad he'll be at Arlington with his brothers.
