Arrest made in attack on Milwaukee mayor

A 20-year-old Wisconsin man accused of attacking the mayor of Milwaukee with a metal pipe has been arrested, police said Sunday.
Mayor Tom Barrett was in stable condition Sunday at a Milwaukee-area hospital after he was attacked the night before at the Wisconsin State Fair in nearby West Allis, police said.
Barrett was leaving the event with his family when he heard a woman crying for help, police said.
When Barrett began calling 911, the man who had been attacking the woman charged at him and began battering him with a metal pipe, police said.

I like your 360 Segment on CNN. Your comments on any matter
is respectful and without bias. With regard to Michael Vick, I thought
that he was out of his mind to become involved in "Dog Fighting."
I love my animals, and he has paid the price for this crime versus the
Football Player who shot someone and got off with a slap on his hand.
In my opinion, which is worth nothing to you, this is incomprehensible.
For those of us who believe in "Jesus Christ," he is forgiven. Michael Vick does not need to look behind him, he needs to go forward. With
reference to your Lawyer Friend, as he speaks to Michael Vick going around making speeches, he must make it known to the youth of all colors (walking around the community with Pitt Bulls on large chains) that this kind of thing is inhuman. His message must make an impact on somebody. LIfe is full of experiences and you learn from these experiences. If you don't, you are just plain stupid.

For this Milwaukee Mayor to involve himself in a domestic situation without regard for his life is certainly a man of compassion. I
have never heard of any incident like this before. He deserves a
medal of recogniation as evident of his going above and beyond the
call of duty. My prayers go out to him that he will recovery without
any side affects. He's a HERO for the "War on Crime."
Nope they don't have security for the Mayor. He was out enjoying the fair with his family. It is a shame that this happened. I live in the city where it happened and maybe this will bring Domestic Violence Awareness to the front burner.
Tom Barrett is the most genuine elected official that I have ever met. His actions on Saturday were brave, and they obviously came at a great personal cost to him and his family. The Mayor's instantaneous reaction to a cry for help was indicative of what is a lifetime of everyday heroism. The sheer brutality of this terrible event is inescapable. I am happy that someone did something to protect the woman who cried for help, but I am devastated that the person who came to her rescue, a kind, decent man who I call friend, was so viciously battered in front of his family.
We are praying for Mayor Barrett and his family.
As a military man who serves his country proudly, I would like to say job well done to the mayor. God bless him for his courage to stand up for the people of his city. I would like to wish him a speedy recovery.
I've been watching CNN news for the last two days & I'm wondering why nothing is being reported on the arrested attacker of Milwaukee's mayor? It's public information that he's been arrested & he most certainly isn't a minor so why is more information not being provided....inquiring minds want to know!
The mayor declined security because it was a personal outing. It was a nice thought, but public officials need security ehen they are out in public. He is a good guy and I hope he gets better soon
To bad when even a mayor of a city can't be safe with his family, and yes, why did't he have any SECURITY? Don't tell me even the CUT-BACKS have gotten that bad?

Glad the police got the attacker – the mayor reacted like we all should – to try to help the person being victimized. If more people had been helping the mayor, maybe he wouldn't have been hit so much that he had to be hospitalized. I bet the woman being attacked knows who she is going to be voting for next election!
