On a recent Saturday night, Savannah Stern earned $300 to hang out for seven hours at a party in Santa Monica wearing nothing but a feather boa.

The veteran of more than 350 hard-core pornography productions took the job to earn extra cash and to network. But the word at the 35th anniversary party for Hustler magazine was not heartening, especially among the roughly 75 other women working there.

"At least five girls I haven't seen in a while came up to me and said, 'Savannah, are you working?' " said Stern, who started in the industry four years ago and, like most adult performers, uses a stage name. "I had to say, 'No, not really,' and they all said, 'Yeah, I'm not either.' "

Are you kidding me, porn will never go away. All those saying they dislike it most likely watch it behind closed doors.

This is one industry I would be happy to see disappear permanently.

...tough times?!... Well, if this economic crisis is hitting everybody in this country, who in the f... this porno industry is to nof having to suffer as well? They have made so much money selling garbage to a country who praise itself of being a 'role model' for the world...

Wow, times are tough when porn suffers. I thought that sin always prospered – according to southern ministers it does. Guess not though. I understand about salaries taking a big dive, job opportunities being fewer and harder to find, etc. but I like the plan this one porn star in the article has – get a cheaper car; set up an internet site that she runs and profits from; and then use the money to go back to college to get a degree in interior design. A very constructive plan – I hope she succeeds.

Nice Jewish girl porn star? She wouldn't be the first, actually.

I wonder what her parents think?
