While it is wonderful that these women have been repatriated, why hasn't the media asked the question "What were they doing illegally entering a foreign country that is hostile to the United States?"

First and foremost, it's great that Laura & Euna are safely home.

The question is... why did they get into trouble in the first place? If they thought their cause was worthwhile, they should do it again or refuse to get pardoned. If they took on a risky (Current TV) assignment with Al Gore's knowledge/approval, Al should be ashamed of himself - Mr. "Green" who has a 20,000 sq ft house and drives big, inefficient vehicles!

Sympathy aside (because most of us have much compassion for their kids and spouses), these "international" journalists should have known the danger of getting too close to the sun. I hope their "mistake" (or whatever you want to call it) didn't cause the US to give N Korea a brownie point they did not deserve.

When successful negotiations by both government as well as private interests result in such a great outcome, its amazing that this means of communicating is not used more often

I'm happy they are safely home now but how typically American to think that it is possible to travel anywhere your little free hearts will take you on this planet just because you are free and you can. This goes for the American nitwits who went for a little trek off the beaten path and are now somewhere in Iran. Looks like another job for 'President Bill to the Rescue'. Parts of this planet are truly risky and especially dangerous for all of us and especially for you Americans. Stop trying to go where you do not belong and stay at home with your families and children!

Happy for their return, but most folks are clueless regarding the backstory. As an intelligence officer privy to military/political information it is quite clear what North Korea (and the U.S.) has done. Kim Chong il has made Clinton (read: U.S.) apologize in front of a zillion North Korean cameras and is using his/our likeness to show how the Great Nation has supplicated itself before the Dear Leader (Kim Chong il). To his credit, Clinton could care less what North Koreans think as long as we get those two reporters home. However, what is also not so well known is that Kim Chong il would have released the reporters to ANY American of import..... anyone from Michael Jordan to Brad Pitt to Oprah, etc., etc.). So, let us all keep our brains about us before we elevate Bill Clinton to the status of savior. Don't you just hate it when FACTS get in the way of a great, left-leaning article.

    Dear Anderson,
What a tearful yet joyful moment for Euna Lee and Laura Ling’s family…Great thanks to President Clinton—North Korean is a such dangerous country and he has to put his own safety away for rescuing the two journalists. President Clinton is a hero. I wish there is a better world than Thanks to express our deepest appreciation to him

I am very happy for those two ladies and am glad they are safe. I hope they will have learnt a lesson and be more careful in the future. Didn't they do their research and know they were treading on dangerous ground? Not only did they cause stress to their families but Clinton and friends had to go out of their way, spend precious time and incur enormous expense because two women did not think rationally as they pursued a press story.

I think it was great of President Clinton to get the girls home. But the big question is ,why were they there in the first place. Why, if they worked for VP Gore, were they crazy enough to get close to that border and what did Gore have to do with it. This stupidity has cost the U.S. a big price!

I am elated these young woman have returned to their families.
But they learned a valuable lesson. They pushed the edge and got burned. If you cross the border of a tough country, what do you think would happen. Especially if one of them did it 2 years previously undercover. I think some credit needs to be give to NK. How many others are under other circumstances and in labor camps?
As for rocks in rice, I have had that also. it is not nice, but at least it is food.

This was another incredible diplomatic moment in the history of the United States. Too bad we have networks like Fox News with their anchors who went on TV and said things like the Obama administration was soft of terrorists and that the journalists should've accepted their fates and stayed in N.Korea.

I wish Obama would pass a bill to send the entire Fox Network to N. Korea instead.

    Total waste of good media.

They were there for their own self career boost for a story they knew they couldn't get. They knew the North Korean goverment's "evil ways" against rest of the world, yet they still crossed the borders to fish up a "Story" and got caught. 5 months of well deserved holding.

I almost got sick having forced to watch this in the morning news on every channel.

Our troops coming back from Iraq didn't get any "LIVE" broadcasts.

I am so happy for Laura and Euna and also their families. I am sure they are so glad to be reunited with their loved ones and to begin the process of looking to the future. I only pray that the media will allow them the time they need to recover from such a horrilbe nightmare.
The power of GOD is with each and every one of us each day and we must continue to pray for peace in this world.

Thank God these two were returned to their families and are healthy and this goes to say the Obama administration really is doing some good by indirectly dealing with the axis of evil though they won't accept it . Gosh I Miss the Clinton years and Boy am i so happy this wasn't Pres Bush's term, cos he might have sent Darth Vader to nuke the whole island and bring back their heads and Bad boy Kim's pinkie finger!!!
