We also know how many aliases Jackson apparently used to get the drugs. We'll have those stunning numbers for you. And, just how easy is to get your hands on narcotics? 360 M.D. Sanjay Gupta investigates.

Love Gary's reporting really shows America's TRUE colors....sadly we're stuck in the 50s with our Black and White television sets seeing only two colors...

Ok people need to wake up just because America elected Obama as president doesn't mean racism still doesn't exist or miniority profiling or issues don't occur.

@isabel The Los Angeles County coroner's office says release of Michael Jackson's autopsy results will be delayed...this was according to an AP report that came out today....

Wow ! The anonymous 911 caller now takes the stage. When it was clear that all sides knew she did the right thing.

On Lucille: I never once thought the 911 caller was a racist... I merely thought the caller was a concerned citizen. She needs to calm down because her tape has been made public and a more perfect caller I have never seen.

hmmmm, why did she have to be careful?

    July 29, 2009 at 10:32 pm |
  17. Sarah

Anderson, Ms. Whalen is speaking out because of the words the false report put in her mouth. She's speaking out because the report claims she said things the recording of the 911 call proves she did not.

Lucia is a victim. What right do people have to harass her? Even if she was a racist it does not give people the right to harass her. People wonder why people don't get involved.

Now Eric Holder's story is a true example of racism in the US. We need to stop giving Gates such credibility and making him an icon in discussions of racial inequality. This is a serious issue. Gates' behavior is cheapening an important dialog.

And I feel simply horrible for Lucia Whalen.

@Suvro, hi, we could use some of that rain you're getting in NYC, though we did have some last night.

Interesting report by Dr. Sanjay Gupta, but I wondered if the second prescription is from a different doctor than the first perscription. Isn't there a unique number for each presciption? And if someone is using an alias, then wouldn't just asking for identification prevent someone from getting a presciption illegally?

  27. Gloria, Brooklyn, NY

I meant fill the prescription without a prescription slip. Now, let see how well you do.

If the apartment did have mold, I think should be made known for public safety.

I think the health department should have been notified as well.

They should not be allowed to sue her if this turns out to be true....fix it don't sue.

Good evening Anderson, Erica & fellow bloggers.

I am a bit surprised that Dr. Gupta didn't look at the access to drugs over the internet from pharmacies in other countries; eg: google the following 'buy diprivan' and it comes back that you just have to provide a prescription.

i don't understand why the woman in the Professor Gates story is so upset....can someone fill me in please;-)

    July 29, 2009 at 10:28 pm |
  34. Kelly - Harrisburg, PA

I think the Gates story reminds us that we do need to be sensitive of other people's perceptions of situations. It seems like no one meant harm, but may have assumed the other's intentions were more malicious. You never know a person's backstory just be looking at them.

Good evening Anderson. I believe questions will forever exist concerning the cause of Michael Jackson's death. On the other hand, he had a will, so I do not understand how family members can question his decisions. It would be a completely different story and years of legal battling if he did not have a will. My mother had no will. I was appointed executrix and just settled her estate, two years after her death. We should all have a will which clearly states our instructions after death.

I think it's very important to keep the focus on the larger issue of access to these medications. And don't forget the internet. Many meds can be obtained on the internet and shipped from foreign countries. They have tried to crack down on this but they continue to pop up all the time on the net.

if patient pays out of pocket there is no way to know if he/she got narcotics somewhere else

Could Jackson's weight have had anything to do with the way his body reacted to the propofol?

  44. Lynn

Why isn't the press, including CNN, apologizing to the woman who made the 911 call? Obviously, people got their information from news reports which weren't properly fact checked.

@ Erica: With regards to the tanning bed issue and the UV rays, just wondering if you have seen the nail dryers at the nail shops? There is a fan dryer and UV light that dries your nails. I will not use them because I don't want "old" looking hands in retirement. I have wondered what the radiation is like from those components.
