For those of you who are unaware, the 'Birthers' movement is a pejorative term (like the 9/11 Truthers) used by the many in American media to ridicule those right-wing polemicists who believe that President Barack Obama's Hawaiian birth certificate is a 'fake' and because they believe that he was ostensibly born in Kenya, not the United States, he was never eligible to be president in the first place.

Seriously, all of the people in the 'birther' movement need to get a life (and a clue). They need to get out of their mothers' basements in their tighty-whities and open the front door to inhale some fresh air and a much-needed dose of reality.

Sadly, certain right-wing media commentators, including high-profile polemicists like Alan Keyes, Liz Cheney, Rush Limbaugh and Lou Dobbs have all at one point or another doubted the veracity of President Obama's 'natural-born' American citizen status to further their own myopic right-wing agenda and help to distract from the pressing American issues of health care reform, two ongoing wars in the Middle East and a recession that rivals only the Great Depression in its scope and breadth.

CNN reported that President Obama's birth certificate was posted by White House staff, before the elections, and that a Hawaiian newspaper provided or faxed a newspaper clipping of the birth announcement.
What else is the issue here? The hidden-agenda of this group of rumor-mongers is that they find it difficult to accept a "fait accompli" : an intelligent blackman was elected to lead this great nation.
This nation was nearly ruined, financially, by his predecessor. This group of rumor-mongers believe that their skin-color destined them to lead this great nation, even if they are the dumbest of the dumbests.
If a blackman had lead America into an unnecessary war that has taken thousands of young american lives, thousand of Iraqi lives and .5 billions of dollars; the same uninformed narrow-minded "patriotic" (?) citizens would have been calling for the president's head by now.
    This is an outrage!
Thank God; they are small in number!
Majority of fellow Americans are not in the dark regarding their hidden-agenda.

His mother is a natural citizen...that makes him a citizen regardless of where he is born, right?

I agree with Jacqueline–In the feeding frenzy for information prior to the election, if there was anything to be found out, it would have been found long ago,

This is crazy. Of course he is a US citizen. The only reason people are even bringing this up is because he is Black. Stop the nonsense already.

It seems like it's just one more law that could be broken, but it doesn't make any difference to the Liberals of America!

@LiberalsHateFacts, his mother is American, what do you need a birth certificate for?
    Move on.

The 'Birthers' aren't interested in truth or facts and will continue to ignore both – they have an obvious agenda and no reasonable person would take any of their claims seriously. Unfortunately, the media figures and politicians mentioned in the article who back the Birthers have proven many times that they don't fall under the category of reasonable – it is shameful that these people are attempting to give these ridiculous assertions legitimacy.

I am quite happy to let the Republicans make fools of themselves, and have ways of encouraging them to do so whenever possible. Every great reforming president was hated by the conservatives of their time, including Lincoln and FDR, so Obama is in good company.

It's also encouraging when the Republicans show their racism openly, instead of hiding behind euphamisms and codewords like quotas and affirmative action. They have been playing the Race Card more and more blatantly since Obama was elected and Sotomayor nominated to the Supreme Court, and it's going to backfire on them very badly in the end.

It isn't hard to show a birth certificate but should we? What about identity theft? Would you want your birth certificate online in all its glory for just anyone anywhere to see? If you don't, then why would that be different for Obama? Generally even to get access to a birth certificate you either have to prove you are the person on that certificate or are closely related to the person before you are given access to it. If the government controls the access to birth certificates for privacy reasons I don't see anyone's birth certificate being online for the whole world to see.

When this issue first raised its head, someone in the government connected with elections verified to the press that Obama did have a birth certificate, that it did show him to be an American citizen, and that it was a legal copy of the birth certificate. This issue should have been closed with that but some people just can't concede defeat.

People like that need to get a life, the election's over and if his birth certificate was fake I'm sure they would have found proof by now. But what does it matter anyway? just because someone isn't born in the US doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to become president, in this society of multiculturalism that is a racist requirement that is not required of any other public office. Whether you were born there or not when you gain your citizenship you ARE an American.

Then set the record straight, it's that simple... Show the birth certificate. How hard is that, just show the birth certificate and put the matter to rest. I am extremely confused as to how difficult that it is unless of course there is something to hide.
