I'm not into sports, but even if I were, the man was wrong..I dont condone the girlfriend for murder/suicide...but he led her on and into believing the lies he most assuredly told her...
I do have sympathy for his kids knowing their dad died with "another" woman by his side..and He was exactly where he wanted to be..with another woman...

At the concluding press conference, police chief stated that after Ms. Kazemi shot Mr McNair, she shot herself in the RIGHT temple with her LEFT hand. I say left hand because it was stated that her right hand did not have any gunpowder residue, only her left hand. And the amount of residue wasn't conclusive because of the amount (not enough for five shots). How is that possible to shoot yourself like that? I am a female and often go to the range. She had to be very strong to shoot one-handed, FIVE times. Was she right or left handed?

who are we to judge, he has now gone to the king of kings to be judged, let him be the one to cast aspersions, he who is without sin cast the first stone, we are not perfect, not one of us we have all made mistakes and done stupid things , leave this family alone to grieve, stop the idle chatter the world around us is being destroyed, have we not learned anything from Michaels passing? Come on. My sympathy goes out to his family, god is the reader of hearts and the searcher of minds.

What a sad story....why do some men think that the promises made to their wives mean nothing??? I hope his young boys do not follow in therir father's footsteps...life's lessons are sometimes very painful...
my sincere condolences to his family.

This is a horrid case in infidelity. I pray for all the families involved, ESPECIALLY Mcnair's wife & children! They did not deserve the double dose of pain!!! I too am a victim of infidelity! My fiance' of 9yrs recently had been lying & going back & forth between a girl 15yrs younger than. He lied & said i was only his child's mom & will not let go, when he's the 1 who keeps gripping on to me! because i would get some space from him by not calling or coming around he did this. right now he's still lying about it & its torn me away from him. I told him the other day that men play these games with new younger women, but they dunno how the young woman will take the lies that he's telling. in this case...it was fatal & should b a lesson for men who think they can get away with this in life. The games usually end & like this one, fatality may b the outcome!

Although a tragedy, what is done in the dark will come to light. Heck no these black rich men have not learned. And while tragic the still haven't learned. Real talk the girl was mad cuzz she went to jail and they took a cab home, she was greedy she got a car, she was in denial , what rich man is willing to leave his wife "not",if u rgoing to cheat xcept the situation u r second, no need to off killing folks. She knew she was paid, and Im sure didn't need anything, if she did have some financial worry , she should have took the money instead of going on trips, a $ chaser, golddigger LOL , she dug her own grave. Will they ever learn?

What if his wife knew he was cheating and figured as along as he brought home the bacon she didn't care what he did outside? Sounds pretty silly right, so does all the speculating about private relationships we nothing about. No one deserves to be shot in the head or cheated on but why don't we leave the judging to the Almighty.

Once again I say PLEASE PLEASE find out the real truth. Steve had several women that he did the same things for and told the same lies to.. I personally know of 2 of them and have first hand knowledge of the relationships..I guess this was his M.O when it came to his outside relationships because they all got the cars, trips, and condos, and when the y got old to him and he needed a new toy, he moved on to the next women or victim...unfortunately, this time she refused to take no for an answer and move on...I wished someone would have told her how the game was played and how she was being played just like the rest of them!!!! Please interview some of these women...none of this is new!!

Years ago, my husband's girlfriend of 18 months called ME to ask when I was getting a divorce (of which I knew nothing). My husband told her we were separated (not true), that he had custody of the kids (not true), and that I had cheated on him (not true). In order to elevate himself in her eyes, he had to make me look horrible– and the woman bought it for awhile. After the call I went into an emotional spiral, but left my husband (even though he wanted to stay in the marriage), and ended up supporting my kids without his financial help. My ex is now 60, lives with his mother, and hasn't held a job for 7 years. It's NEVER worth it, guys. If you want to play around, don't get married. Or if you do get married and have kids, have the decency to leave them without bringing another person into the relationship, McNair was probably feeling at a loss because he no longer was playing football, and maybe had friends who had "gotten away with" having an affair. I think he had it in him to come clean and be a better person, but we'll never know. As far as the young lady is concerned–her attitude was poison and she most likely would have wrecked other marriages, too. How stupid and what a waste.

Anderson I think your missing the real story here. These famous athletes start relationships with women all over the country and they have no regard for these girls or the lives they leave in ruins. It sounds to me like yet another case of a cocky, arrogant, man who used, abused, and took advantage of a young girl until she's so mixed up that she does something rash and extreme like this.

My heart breaks for Mechelle McNair and her children most of all. Steve's sons will spend the rest of their lives defending their dad's legacy because of the choices HE MADE!

And to all of Steve's friends who knew and said nothing..did nothing to try and talk some sense into him...SHAME ON YOU!

I know he was a grown man making his own decisions but did you have to go and party at "Jenny's" house with Steve??? Did you have to condone his actions with your silence??? Tell me, how will you face his wife and kids at his funeral??

And to Mechelle McNair....please know that God is with you and your children and Steve's family. God see's all and knows all and He will not leave you comfortless. He loves you and so do I......

Steve really was a friendly well-liked guy to all in this community. I thought he was different from some of his cheating, womanizing teammates that you hear about around town. Since this tragedy happened, there has been plenty of talk to the contrary from people who frequent the Nashville club scene. His poor family. The youngest will hardly remember his dad. I wonder how all of his enabling "friends" feel now. Will this tragedy cause them to reconsider their own lifestyles?

People what hapn is not because of race or color, background or past.
What hapn was clearly because cheating spouses do not think of the consequences but their needs. Stop blaming it on d women. Its d cheaters fault.
He got himself in the middle of this situation n now he paid for it
My heart goes out to both families.

I'm sure God is taking care of them.

This is a very unfortunate incident, my heart goes out to the children and his wife. No one has the right to take another human beings life for this type of ignorance. How many financial problems can a 20 year old have.
    She was obviously mentally unstable.

So how did this 20 year old get a handgun??? Federal law requires you to be 21 to buy one. If someone got her one illegally, throw the book at him!

When will these stupid men learn not to play with womens minds, along with other things. I am sorry for the heartache this will cause the children and the really sad part of it all is it should have been him that was concerned with the heartache that he might be causing.

Besides did no one watch "Fatal Attraction."

What a gold digger she was . maybe an escalade and all the money wasn't Enough. Maybe the older mcnair should've thought twice about dating her.

A good human being and a football player but, you play you pay. I'm sorry he's gone. That was a horrible way to die. My heart goes out to his wife and kids. No statement yet from them either.

Kazemi had a few cards missing from the deck. To get jealous because he has a new girlfriend?! HELLO, he HAD a wife!

Kazemi herself was "the other woman" why did she think he wouldn't cheat on her too? Because the other woman always thinks that it will be different with them. Wake up ladies. Get some self-respect and your own man!

My thoughts and prayers go out to both families. This story is very distrubing. It looks like a case of an emotionally distrubed woman with serious abandonment issues, likely caused by the untimely death of her parents.

She probably felt like she was on top of the world when Steve was courting her, taking her on exotic vacations, buying her things, etc.

She lost her mind once she realized that to him, she was just the flavor of the week.

So sad. I feel even worst for Steve's wife and children!!! They are the real victims of this crime.

I, like his wife, was a victim of a cheating spouse. I talked to HER often when she got mad at him and found out he told her we were getting a divorce....NOT...we were trying to have a child....I am amazed what a spouse will do to stray for someone new...I gave him another chance and he broke the trust again....amazing....he begged me to take him back the first time....!

Unfortunately this black man like many others fell prey to the white woman. He strayed from his black wife and kids for a much younger piece of white tail. It appeared he had a second white girlfriend on the side which drove Ms. Kazemi into a jealous rage resulting in their deaths. While he didn't deserve to die, his family didn't deserve the pain and shame of the situation. This almost negates his work on the football field and community service. He apparently didn't learn from the Kobe situation.

Black married philandering athletes and young white women don't mixl.

What a pitiful loss. Both families must be subjected to the humiliation of yet another high profile man trying to have his cake and eat it too. When will this lesson be learned. My smypathy to his wife and children and the family of that young lady who had no self worth of herself. Was it worth it STEVE??

    July 8, 2009 at 6:36 pm |
  35. Wanza

Well, I am truly upset by Steve's death but I am at a total loss for his wife and four sons. They are also victims, as Steve is. Cheating is a social norm violation but it doesn't warrant death. Cheating with married man/woman has serious consequences and in some cases the "other" lover will resolve to violence. In my opinion, the "other" lady in the McNair tragedy was a coward. Yes! A coward because she decided to kill Steve but couldn't face the consequences of killing him, so she kill herself...a cowardly act. Hell has a special place reserved just for her.

How many girlfriends did this man have? I feel for his family finding out this way (if they didn't already know). What a horrible discovery on top of their loss; He may have been a great athlete but how he died will be remembered long after his sports career is forgotten. What a waste.
