If LP Field in Nashville had a roof on it, then Steve McNair would have blown it off. I walked through the stadium talking to fans who had gathered to remember him after his scandalous death.
Everyone told me they are saddened by the lurid details of his personal life, but want to remember him as the star quarterback who took them to a Super Bowl.
Some memories can't be tainted.

My sympathies to his wife and children. This is not a hero's exit.
Although it's rather sad of his untimely death, McNair is for the most part to blame. If he had not be unfaithful to his wife he would still be on Earth at home with his REAL family. Nobody should ever be murdered in cold blood, but if he had only been faithful to his wife he'd be living. Not to mention his kids have to grow up in this world without a father now.
Good evening AC, as I sit here in my rehab bed I'm watching your show and the discussion about McNair. I've been training in preparation for my upcoming college freshman season of football, unfortunately my appendix is going to make me miss some of the games of my debut. What could young men such as myself with potential to go beyond college and into the professional level do to prevent this sort of chaos to grip our lives. When you're an athlete above high school you step into the spotlight so-to-speak and you become a target of many things, unfortunately a target like Mr. McNair.
RIP,
Steve McNair. I hope your love for mankind and the dedication ad committment you have made to your community will not be in vain. We love you.
Do we know more about the background of the girlfriend? Because something tells me this murder-suicide has more to do with what's sometimes described as honor killing (or honor suicide in this case)in Middle Eastern cultures than with financial troubles as reported.
its true , money cant buy love but it can buy a whole lot of problems. when you are an althete, you cant live your life as a normal person at least not in the hood. you have to uproot yourself away from your humble begining and face the fact that you are no longer little joe-smoe, from the block. and you definitely will not get away with trying to play women with your fame, if they are ordinary sally and them. like my dad use to say the only thing more dangerous than a poor man is a poor woman. r.i.p. steve.
May he rest in peace and his family be comforted during this difficult time.
Hi Anderson! I just wanted to say that I can no longer hold my peace> Steve had several women,,this was not his first affair. He was having and had several...he does the same thing...buys them cars, condos, vacations, tickets to games, etc. even while he was playing,,, he has always led a double life..hey, , you can even ask the women her that are just as upset and devastated as his wife..I mean the guy had them all thinking the same thing every time and they all fell for it!!! Sad But True.
I know these other women personally!!
i dont want to take away any of the great things steve mcnair did throughout his life, and i have the most profound respect for his accomplishments, but it has been repeatedly misrepresented that he came just a yard short of winning the super bowl. he did come a yard short of TYING the score, then he would have had to win the coin toss, then he would have had to drive his team down the field against a stingy ram defense, and his field goal kicker would have had to successfully convert a long attempt to actually win the game. it may seem like an innocent mis-statement, but for all of us ram fans it's just another attempt to marginalize the record breaking season the rams enjoyed that year. that being said, i always wanted steve mcnair to play for my team. he will be missed.
When you date; younger women, who are not even twice your own age and allow them to accept extravangant gifts for affections or even passing the celebrity card; sometimes it saddens me to say the acts of obsession;on both sides creates alcoholism, drugs, and yes; even homicides!!! Senseless tragedy!!! My heart goes out to the families of both.
Why should we kill??? Is it okay that a man was killed by a woman? I am sick from the horrors of a false love. Man kills a woman for being a whore or a woman killing a man for being a pimp? What are we teaching our babies. Look at ALL THE NEWS!!!!!
We have got to teach our children some serious ethics...I could go on and on about this issue...when reality shows came out.I said great..since we are such a bunch of followers...devine ignorance has incapsulated our society...the bad boy image has got to go away...
other wise agression will lead us in a direction that will totally wipe out ones sane intelligent creative force...instead of brow beat one into
PTSD MODE ....this is all connected...so there aare alot of people who are suffering this...and the behavior attached to this varies from one extreme to another!!!
If Mcnair's girlfriend had never shot a gun I don't know how she could have shot him so perfectly in the head and chest.
I am so sadden by this young man's murder. When will men and woman stop putting it All on the line for a moment of sexual feeling.
Men please stop telling the woman stories about you leaving your wife and she dreams of marrige. Some young women are not mentaly
stable enough when the truth is known.Such a lost for his kids and family.
i'm so sorry for micheal jacksons famaly and for him
Anderson – STOP talking about Michael Jackson. This story has gotten MORE than enough air time. Crises are happening across the world that you should be informing people about. Enough with MJ.
I tune in every night hoping you have a different leading story... For the past week +, I have either been turning the TV OFF or turning to MSNBC/Keith Olberman. You are LOSING viewership!
Your show is no longer raw politics – it's a step above ET and TMZ. Seriously. Stop.
Everyone makes mistakes, let's not dwell on Steve McNairs.. He was a great athlete and person. Let's try and remember that.
Its tough for me to process all of this, living in Nashville, I loved the Steve Mc Nair the quarterback. But the choices of his relationhips with women, He should have listeneded to MJ–"people always tell me be careful what you do, don't t around breaking young girls hearts."
A Little Self-Serving?
I watched some of the Jackson Tribute on CNN. I found the large constant CNN logo on the screen a bit disrespectful of the station. Your viewers know what station they are watching. A smaller and less conspicuous logo I feel would have been more then adequate and a show of respect.
In Tennessee football is serious business so no, you can't taint those great football moments. I'm a native of Tennessee and my blood is still Big Orange (for the UT Volunteers).
