Wendy Long: Sotomayor a 'liberal judicial activist of the first order'

On the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, Wendy E. Long provided the following statement:
"Judge Sotomayor is a liberal judicial activist of the first order who thinks her own personal political agenda is more important that the law as written. She thinks that judges should dictate policy, and that one's sex, race, and ethnicity ought to affect the decisions one renders from the bench.
"She reads racial preferences and quotas into the Constitution, even to the point of dishonoring those who preserve our public safety. On September 11, America saw firsthand the vital role of America's firefighters in protecting our citizens. They put their lives on the line for her and the other citizens of New York and the nation. But Judge Sotomayor would sacrifice their claims to fair treatment in employment promotions to racial preferences and quotas. The Supreme Court is now reviewing that decision.
"She has an extremely high rate of her decisions being reversed, indicating that she is far more of a liberal activist than even the current liberal activist Supreme Court."

Racial preferences are wrong. Period, end of story.
Here's to victory for the New Haven 18, not only for the cause of justice and public welfare, but for the black eye it will give a judge who basically told them to go to hell.
Well she should make a really good fit into The Obama Team. After all Obama is running things with his own personal political agenda in mind.
TO THE GOPers:
You do realize that every president chooses a judge who best represents them and their ideology.
Like Roberts, for example, a conservative president, Bush, choose a conservative judge.
Why complain? Its silly and tiresome!
Long is wrong. her decisions were upheld 99% of the time. maybe ms. long was talking about that 1%. AND SHE WAS FIRST APPOINTED TO THE BENCH BY BUSH SENIOR. the radicals are starting early.
Remind me again why I should care about the opinion of Republican operative Wendy E. Long.
Almost sounds like a pre-written statement, given the lack of specifics – like Long just came up with a list of statements she thought would induce fear in the right-wingers, and then plugged in Sotomayor's name once it was made public.
A lot of accusations in this piece with very few, if any, specifics to back it up. Without examples to illustrate the points being made all one can reasonably do is to mark this opinion up to the right wing conservatives who think anything from a liberal is selfish and anti-Constitutional.
And the problem is what exactly? All the other judges are white males appointed by Republicans. I don't see why its such a problem to inject a little female Liberal qualities into such an obviously biased judiciary.

Ms. Long interned as Justice Clarence Thomas clerk, and was press secretary for former Republican Senators from Colorado and New Hampshire.
The Executive Director of TJCN was a Bush/Cheney organizer in the '04 campaign.

Is there anyone out there that Thinks Chief Justice Roberts is not equally committed to his idealogical ideas. Don't fool yourself. Sanctimonious right wing psychos....they all want to spout this crap when its time for someone of a different idealogical persuasion but stay mum when someone shares their views. I am an independent, but I am so tired of this stupitiy. We are all smart enough to see the hypocricy. They are driving away every moderate in the country.... What idiots!!!
Thank God for the appointment of President Obama...... A man who has the courage to restore order in our great country. To open closed doors that has been closed far too long, doors that was given freely by God to all mankind. Now every culture, every child, every gender, every minority has a horizon of opportunity, harmony, healing, and growth to look forward to and no longer accept division among the people of this great country on any level.
Say hello to President Obama's new champion for same sex marriage.
