What if your mother , father etc. were killed by this jerk?
I don't agree with police brutality, but the public must understand that a car IS a deadly weapon, and the driver used it as such. He got what he deserved. And yes i'm black!

Guns in national parks are not a good idea! Change it!

Good evening, everyone! Almost forgot to join in after the American Idol finale. This ridiculous provision within the bill is infuriating.

When I heard about this reform bill made me laugh a bit...credit cards and guns all wrapped up in one! But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do!

@Isabel Hilarious, GITMO is a white elephant very funny

So angry credit card holders who are in debt with little more to lose, we're going to give them more gun rights? Maybe it'll straighten up the banks! Yes, I'm totally kidding, make sure your sarcasm filters are on low.

Thank you Mr. Gergen! You are right about the Democrats have abandoned the President, Mueller too. This vote was rediculous.

The terrorists who bombed the twin towers in the 1990's are in maximum securite. Anyone remember how "scary" the "Blind Shake" was. He and his pals have been contained just fine in a max. security American prison!

We all need to write our rep's and sen's and support the closing of Gitmo, which is a National and International embarrassment!

The credit card is very good when you have money and everything is quiet in the consumer relationship X credit card operator.

Consumers rethink the way we use this tool.

@Mike: "Obama blew it by announcing the closure without a plan. He should have developed a plan first and then announce the closure. Congress did right to deny funds."

    Hmm.... Good point, Mr. Syracuse.

President Obama is very interesting – constantly in problem-solving mode – the man must never sleep – busy busy mind – lots to think about i guess

I think we are seeing the results of someone making promises during the campaign, then realizing the real world is a lot more complicated than a 15 second sound bite. It's called a lack of experience.

  13. Dulcie - Denver

    J. Toobin is so right! We have a Super Max right here in Colorado. I think one of the convicted terrorists is there already, but they really don't say much about where these really dangerous people are held.

Sounds like our President is getting boxed in by his own party. That's kind of disturbing.

  14. David, Indiana

David Gergen is right again, dems are in the majority and in the Presidency, they can't act like they have no responsibilities here. Maybe it's just a false congress anyway.

  15. Cessy, Chicago

yes.. i agree, what would America do to the ones who are very dangerious but can't be prosecuted? It's scary to even think that the dangerous ones will get away and plan another attack...what about the ones that goes to prison? what if their group(s) decides to attack?

    this makes me nervous...

    May 20, 2009 at 10:09 pm |
  16. Vanessa, TX

I really hope they don't bring the detainees to US..its gonna put new ideas for the current American detainees..they are already looking for revenge..why put terrorist ideas on ppl who already imprisoned?

    May 20, 2009 at 10:08 pm |
  17. Heather - Spokane, WA

I say bring them here that way we can give them the trial they should have. They wouldnt get away with anything!

    May 20, 2009 at 10:08 pm |
  18. Rikki, Fargo, ND

That is an excellent point Mr. Gergen...where did they think this detainees were gonna go? We need to own up for our actions. We started this war and we need to try these detainees ourselves. We can't just pawn them off on other countries because we don't want to deal with them .

    May 20, 2009 at 10:08 pm |
  19. Daniel Nelson

Good evening Anderson, I think that all detainees that are caught in this war on terror fighting for al Qaeda, the Taliban or any other extremist group should get a speedy trial and if found guilty without any remorse should be put to death merciful with an injection then they will be judge by God and burn in hell for eternity!

  24. David, Indiana

Evening Anderson, Erica, everyone. David Gergen is right, democrats got all kinds of political mileage out of Guantanamo, but people using issues heartlessly does not surprise me. Also dems you would think would have sense enough work w the President to work out a plan.

  25. Mike, Syracuse, NY

    May 20, 2009 at 10:05 pm |
  27. Heather - Spokane, WA

i think shutting down Guantanamo needs to be done. It will at least show other countries that we are serious about closing down the war

    May 20, 2009 at 10:05 pm |

As Jon Stewart pointed out about these alleged terrorists: They're not warlocks, we have far more dangerous and insane people in maximum security lock up.

David Gergen is right, no one wants GITMO but they dont want the detainees brought to their homeland.
