If Pelosi is not lying, why then does her story change every couple of days?

Whether or not Pelosi was properly briefed by the CIA does not alter the fact that the US tortured, breaking both long-standing US law and international treaties. The policy was approved at the highest levels of the Bush administration, despite the fact that President Bush told the public on numerous occasions that "the US does not torture."

Worse, it now appears according to reports by the McCatchy new service and others, that we tortured not to protect Americans but to extract political confessions of a non-existant connection between Al Qaeda and the government of Iraq at a time when the invasion was complete and the government of Hussein had already fallen.

Pelosi may be guilty of many things, but as a member of the minority party at the time and a single legislator, she was not responsible for the administration's policy of torture. The focus, instead, should be on people in the Bush White House, the CIA, and the Pentagon.

Since the alleged lying was done in a top secret briefing how can Pelosi make the evidence public without compromising the top secret nature of what was discussed? I'm not sure she can bring any information forward if it is still classified. If she can't that doesn't mean she is a liar necessarily.

Please tell Boehner, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the rest that we're still waiting for OUR apology from them for dragging us into a war based on lies.

Sorry, but the CIA has more than once found to have lied. And to Congress. Not to mention, at the time of this briefing Republicans – who were then the majority – practically threatened to lynch anyone who questioned why we were in Iraq. Remember? You were unpatriotic if you dared speak out or questioned the Bush administration. Pelosi would have been flailing in the wind even if she did know about the methods of interrogation and questioned them.
But above and beyond the above – WHY are we letting these Rethuglicans hang Pelosi at the stake? Using their example they should be picketing Cheney's cave and Bush's ranch with posters saying, "You lied about the WMD." While I certainly oppose waterboarding, Pelosi staying silent – if she did – about a confidential CIA briefing does not even come close to starting a war based on lies, waterboarding POW's to get them to lie, killing and wounding thousands in said war, and driving our country into an economic ditch.
WHY is no one pointing this out and letting Pelosi hang? Where is the real journalism instead of giving DICK and his thugs media time to attack and distract?

Rag On oh Republicans. It is obvious that you don't have anything positive to offer to provide any alternatives to Dem legislation.

Society is aware of allegations raised against Nancy Pelosi. She does appear to contradict or was evasive about what she knew. I was accused of doing something in 1993 that everyone thought I knew what the other person was doing. No matter how many times people asked me about it, my story never changed, I did not have to rehearse my story or showed any type of anxiety. I told people i am willing to take a lie detetector test to prove my innocence. I would advise Nancy to do the same. I believe you do not have to, but if you are strong it what you are saying take a lie detector test. I would not condone this being done to others. This is a moral issue whether you should take it. In my situation, I wanted to take it, because i had the truth.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is very deserving of the critism coming her way. She is a bull-dog in the arena of politics, but a crushing blow to her hind leg,and a massive uppercut by Newt has her on the ropes with the GOP smelling blood! Her sway with the appropriation committee, and what comes to the floor, have blinded her! In a outspoken rebuttal of the CIA's knowledge given her ,is a blatant disrespect for our countries security agency! She has military planes on call at moment notice to fly her,and sometimes family back-n-forth to San Fran, with no concern of cost! Why? Because the lady controls the purse strings so to say of the military budget! She abused her power, and wasted two years of a democratic controlled congress ,to satify her agenda, and selfishly sqaundered it, as in a school-yard fight to control the sandbox! Such mentality doesn't belong as Speaker! Her outspokeness during President Obama's speeches to get the last word in,is of great concern,...JMHO

Please keep the heat on the Speaker! Nancy Pelosi cannot have it both ways. This is an example of blaming the CIA when she is not taking her own responsibilites seriously.

Let's see......... WHOM to believe? Whom to believe???

    Here is evidence:

    1. Bush & Dick lied about nukes, WMD's & had a habit of extreme .... secrecy...... during their regime.

    2. Bush lied about the REAL reason to attack Iraq, a country which had no nukes, no WMDs.

I will believe Nancy Pelosi, what would be her reason for lying?

On the other hand...... the GOP's constant attacks on Pelosi, are for a reason. The GOP wants to distract from Bush & Dick! And want to create ...... drama........ so that the Democrats wont drag Bush & Dick & the rest of the neocons in for questioning........ or possible war crimes!

It's funny now that the shoe is on the other foot. Why is it when the Republicans bring up a subject about the Democrats, they are lying or trying to cover something up? But, if the Democrats bring up something on the Republicans, it's the truth and we need to investigate and prosecute.
The whole Obama Administration had better watch out. Why? When the new Administration takes over in 4-years, him and his cronies are all going to be prosecuted for taking our Country under! That is "change" you can believe in!

Gee do you really think that the C.I.A. would lie, they would never do anything dishonest or against the laws of the land,or the Geneva Convention, would they? The G.O.P.'s job right now, has nothing to do with writing laws, or helping the American people, out of this hugh financial mess that they help created or help the Dem.'s and Obama try and get people back to work. Their job is to vote NO on everything and try to block abd stall, and blow every little item completely out of proportion and concentrate on getting their BOYS elected in the next two elections. The G.O.P.'s party and Xpresident are the ones who broke all these laws, and they want to raise a stink, about who new about it. Then they demand you prove you didn't know, how in the hell do you prove that.

What about the CIA lying about intelligence concerning WMDs in the run up to the Iraq war, among other stories? They have a history of not being forthcoming with intelligence, and/or to a great extent the complete run down on intelligence, going all the way back to at least the Bay of Pigs and possibly longer (I'm not that old). For Panetta to claim that the CIA doesn't lie to Congress may be true, in the last few months since this administration has taken over, but to put a blanket on the whole CIA since day one and declare that the agency never lies to congress or the American people is simply not true. And, by the way, since when did CNN become Fox News? This whole Pelosi thing is a giant Republican talking point in an effort to delay and confuse the whole torture debate, and this news organization is taking up the cause. What about the myriad reports from Wilkerson, the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Red Cross, members of the CIA at the time who said they didn't approve, members of the military who said they didn't want to use it and were told to stop investigating it because it was taking too much time, and the detainees themselves decrying the enhanced interrogation techniques and saying they were not legal, didn't save lives or even garner useful information, but in fact had the opposite effect? Where are the investigative journalists of old? Where is the balanced reporting? Where is the digging into the truth and ignoring the sideshow?

I really do believe Nancy Pelosi knew about the interrogation tactics that the Bush administration allow to happen. How many times did the Bush administration go above everybodys head to do what they wanted to do? Such as going to war, tapping American people's phone lines, etc... The list can go on and on. Nancy Pelosi is not to blame they need to hold everybody in the Bush administration responsible including George W Bush and Dick Cheney as well as people like Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleeza Rice, Alberto Gonzalez and many more, stop blaming Nancy Pelosi she couldnt do anything to stop the Bush administration, they were unstoppable and its such a shame that they did what they wanted to do.

Well Boehner and the Reps will get no proof from Pelosi or no apology. She has no proof that the CIA lied to her because she is the one lying. And they'll never get an apology because she thinks that she can lie her way out of it.
