Tonight on 360°, who's lying? House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the most powerful woman in Washington, or the head of the CIA? At issue, who knew what and when about terror interrogations. We're keeping them honest.
Don't miss Erica Hill's webcast on tonight's headlines during the commercials. Watch our WEBCAST

Here are some of them:
1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

yeah- Anderson, how do you feel about those British people? 🙂
Anderson, tell us how you really feel. Haha. I couldn't agree more with you! But, honestly, you don't cool it, you're gonna get a lot of British hate mail. 🙂
Here in Michigan our local papers and news stations have been FLOODED with stories about the closures of the car dealers... it's really hitting us hard here but i know we'll bounce back. i've heard that the tourist industry here in northern Michigan isn't going to be as bleak as many thought it would be... i guess people still want to "get away from it all." let's just hope this is a sign things are looking up.
and about the lollipops and the pubs... i'm thinking all those drunks will just choke on the lollipops and die.... now won't THAT be a pretty lawsuit?
@ Anderson-Oh, the pub stories from England I have...icky to infinity.
Happy Friday Anderson and Erica and fellow bloggers
i am not feeling well tonight bu i send out happy greetings !
LOL – Anderson tell us how you REALLY feel.
Wow...expect many an upset email from Londoners. I had no idea!
Erica... so your saying to shove a lollypop into someone's mouth while they are yelling??? LOL
what a shot of the paramedics saving the baby's life!
@cessy- Its apart of the cia's job to lie about certain things, they arent suppose to tell us everything because they are afraid of how people would react to them. Besides, everyones knows about the water boarding so there really isnt a point in the cia telling everyone about it.
@David Gergen-I think we need an investigation, not that those are all that productive in many cases....
cant wait to hear the segment about the woman from Myanmar...
Hi Erica, you forgot to turn your microphone off after the webcast
How can the CIA defened themselves when they have known and ues the technique of waterboarding since the vietnam war. As a matter of fact they use this in training our navy seals, at least during the war time. I don't know if they still use it, but i suspect that they do.
Hi, Erica!
Already a great mix of stories this evening.
Oh dear! We have been telling everyone NOT to go to Mexico right now. How sad!!!
evening Anderson and Erica and all of the guests on tonite
i'm a little late but i just got back from a mini-party for the new Green Day CD – couldn't miss out on that now could i? was going to stay longer but i NEEDED my Anderson Cooper 360 fix today =]
curious story about the man swimming to that Nobel Prize winner's house... can't wait to hear the elaboration on THAT one... and that "old political adversary of President Obama" sounds interesting...
This whole conversation is a joke! Is it that it is easier to go after a woman NOT responsible for torture than the people who were actually doing it??
Pelosi should go her credibility is zero. I don't think waterboarding is torture. I have seen worse at fraternity hazings (not that I approve of them). Torture is pulling out fingernails, permanently maiming etc.
Anderson. Thanks for good intelligent and non-partisan news. Anderson,as a former UN Military Observer between 2002-2005 would want to know the truth about Weapons of Mass destruction. Newt Gingrich,CIA and fellow Repubs want to cover themselves by venting on Pelosi who never authorized any torture. CIA maps and notes were used by former regime to justify war on Iraq. CIA should produce WMS to believe them!
about torture if it will save one American life do it. about Pelosi if they ever will tell us the truth about this and if she lied she needs to step down but we all know what they do in Washington nothing will happen
Good evening Erica Hill
Thanks for having Fareed Zakaria on. He's so smart.
I also believe that Pelosi is being used as a distraction. The real issue should be focused on Bush and Cheney. And why is anyone listening to Cheney now? This man was out of sight for eight years!
Fareed! Excellent. Thank you for the information
I don't understand why Pakistan does not know how to fight an "insurgent" war. Haven't they learned from us these last several years.
The Pakistani Army is doing exactly what the Taliban wants. They are creating an atmosphere (as Fareed is saying) that will clearly give rise to more insurgents, and less support for the "democratic" government of Pakistan.
Nice to see Fareed on the show again.
What is with the "good old boys" club that always putting a successful woman in any top position on the chopping block. Leave Pelosi alone its all a bunch of nonsence.
If Pelosi is lying about something then that's her problem. Since when is lying anything new in politics.
Why has the media been trying to "get"Nancy Pelosi all day? Get back on track with the perpetrators-Bush + Cheney.
No mention of Senator Graham's notes in your report, uh...Pelosi is right to defend herself, to defend the truth, the CIA report is wrong...it won't be the first time.
The CIA lied to congress before.Remember the CIA chief telling congress that Iraq WMD was a slam dank thing
Bob Graham said that the CIA did not inform him of waterboarding, either. If anyone remembers Bob Graham, he is a walking notebook. They have portraits of him in the senate chambers with his little notebook. He keep notes on everything said and who said it from the time he woke up until the time he went to bed.
Happy Friday, all.
Pelosi knew back then, no one is dumb in D.C. she should take the heat! if she innocent she should come out as a stronger speaker.
Fareed Zakaria is sich a fantastic addition to CNN.
Is Pelosi lying? Why is no one looking at Congressman Hoekstra’s op ed in the WSJ 2 weeks ago, where he stated, he was in the same briefing with Pelosi, when they were both told about water boarding together. They are both on the intelligence committee. She is lying.
If Nancy new...she should just say so and that she has since changed her mind about water boarding. If she's telling truth, she will stick to it – I guess we're the jury for now.
Meanwhile, I'm waiting at the edge of my seat for the kayak waterfall shot.
Pelosi started this whole thing, saying she knew nothing of the Waterborading, and she wanted GWB and Cheney brought up on charges of torture. Well since she started this ball rolling, if it is proven she knew and lied, then her head should roll right along with everyone elses.
Hey Anderson
Many years ago i visited pakistan city Peshawar. There really lovley people living there, not all people in this area are Taliban. So in my mind i am with this local people, all they whant is peace and a future for their kids
The displaced ppl in Pakistan has now reached 1 million according to Oxfam.
@ Reza Saya-Thank you for your story, I hope it sheds enough light on the horrible crisis in Pakistan.
@ Fareed Zakaria-You're such an intellectual carpenter, you hit the nail on the head every time.
Erica, you forgot to turn your microphone off
Politicians lying...say it aint so....they would never lie to us...whats new?1
@Julie – Boston, I agree. Either Pelosi is not telling the truth or she was too naive and ignorant to understand what was happening.
I think Pelosi is the one lying. Also, it's ridiculous to say that she just forgot and is mistaken. You forget what you bought that day, you forget what you ate, however, YOU DO NOT FORGET being told about TORTURE!
I do not believe that Nancy Pelosi is lying. CIA agents lie to their families about the work that they do,they lie for a living. I believe that it is not an accident that the CIA memos are incomplete on that particular date, but all of their other memos are accurate. Something is definately fishy here. Whether the President want it or not I can see investigations of any sort coming down the pike.
Hello everyone - thank you for joining us tonight. Where do you think we should go from here on the squabble between Nancy Pelosi and the CIA? Should there be an investigation of this as well as the rest of the allegations against the Bush administration about its torture policies? Or should we leave this to historians so that the President and Congress can focus on the challenges of today - the economy, health care, global warming, Pakistan and the like?
Shure CIA never lies only to George Bush when they told him what he wanted to hear and then he blame then for getting the information wrong.
I agree with David Gergen. Nothing will come out of the Pelosi vs. CIA issue. It's basically irrelevant and will go away. It would be best for our country if irrelevant Dick Cheney went away too. Actually, I think the whole matter should be dropped, there should be no followup on anything dealing with decisions made in 2002-2004, no truth commission, no justice dep't criminal investigation, no special prosecutor. Just drop it, and move on. Let's go get Bin Laden, get our troops home, and rebuilt the economy.
Thanks to David Gergen for mentioning former Sen. Graham's comments on the Pelosi issue, since Graham is known as very meticulous about keeping records about everything, including his briefings. I feel like the efforts of some Republicans to distract from the horror of the unfolding stories on torture by "blaming" Nancy Pelosi for not doing something about it is somewhat ridiculous, It makes the press look like pawns. Your report, what you have put on your website look that way: why nothing from those defending Nancy Pelosi. It is disappointing.
David Gergen is totally wrong. Not only will they be a truth commission, but when its all over, several of his republican buds will be spending jail time upstate.
