You make a valid point Annie. Sadly I am afraid the answer is just the opposite. If a soldier decides not to reenlist or gets out it appears that is the END of any obligation. Wipe your hands of any problems or $$$, give them a pat on the rear, good job, but see ya later!
Does the military test its returning veterans for PTSD at regular intervals once they return from the war? If not, why not? They have access to the veteran and the military should be able to diagnose the condition quicker and get treatment in place quicker than the civilians would be able to. I don't think we take good care of our soldiers once we bring them back home and we do owe it to them to be sure they are alright and stay that way.
