@ Anderson: Next time you do this segment ask about all of the Catholic priests that are married in Latin America. They are married there and are ministering. It is an accepted fact.

Everyone falls in love, but if he knew he was going to be with the woman he's known for 10 years, then why bother being a PRIEST in the first place!

Priests should be allowed to marry. Pastors of other faiths marry and have still completely committed their lives to god and have done wonderful works for their communities and communities around the world!

Was not Peter married, along with many

Check out EWTN website for information on Catholic priests if they should be married . The program Marcu Grodi's coming home program. It entails inforamtion on noncahtolic chtristians who are oradainded priest in the catholic church .

The tenants of the Catholic Church are well known and not subject to revision. Celibacy has nothing to do with ones ability to administer God's love to a congregation. However, if that one thing makes it difficult for the priest or nun to express God's love in full, then they ust leave. The Church will not change.

Love on, priest. I certainly do not have a problem with priests marrying nuns either.

Any religious institution that outlaws love for its leaders (or congregants) is obviously flawed at a deep level.

I do think that Catholic Priests should be allowed to marry and have children...I'm not a mom but the way its been explained to me is that there is nothing greater than the love for a child...and Catholics believe that God is our father...so wouldn't it help a Priest know the love for his own child so that he can at least start to understand God's love for us?

    May 8, 2009 at 10:26 pm |
  10. Esma

The Catholic Church needs to upgrade and accept love as something normal, why don't they freak out this much when they know that some of their priests molest dozens of children? I can't think of much that would be a greater sin than destroying a child's life like that.

People don't fail to bring charges for stalking, states do. It is a crime against the state and we need to get serious about bringing charges against criminals or expect more creepy behavior. This is not Johanna's fault she is dead. It is his... and ours.

I think Priests should be allowed to marry -

This action by the Catholic Church makes no sense — Priests can molest young boys and either nothing happens or they get moved to another perish — but if a Priest kissing a women, he gets stripped of his Priesthood?

  13. Heather - Spokane, WA

I say let the priests marry if they want to. God did put men and women on earth for a reason so why disallow them to be human?

Institutions have rules and those rules must be followed.
If they are correct or not, this is another discussion.

Cute couple! Of course these priests should be allowed to marry! Being married is not against God.

    May 8, 2009 at 10:25 pm |
  16. Isabel

The waiver of sex, to marriage and the possibility of having children is for that the priest can dedicate himself completely to the church.

If the Church should be modernized in some aspects is another discussion. I even agree that issues of anti-conceptional methods and safe sex should be rethinking, but Padre Alberto wrong, and more, he sinned, when he disrespects the current rules.

That's very creepy! I've had stalkers. And one on the net, but I am not sure who it is. Every time I think I've figured out who it is, I suddenly think it's someone else I know. Whoever it is he is pretty clever and knows himself around the net rather stealthily. Very creepy.

My ex husband stalked me and he had a gun.I also had a restraining order on him. I literally looked over my shoulder for years. It takes any feeling of confidence right out of you and it's terrifying. After he went into recovery he came to his senses.Thank God for that.

If Priest Alberto wants to love a woman and to relate to her, he can choose other ways of being present in the Church, but it is wrong to disrespect of the rules of the Church.

so many religions with so many rules to bear. at the risk of severe oversimplification, everyone should have someone with whom they can really connect – really share. it is the experience of sharing and understanding that forms the basis of friendship. sometimes friendships are subject to rules – sometimes rules and situations change. the point is that in a truly flexible relationship, the situation is less important than the bond.

    May 8, 2009 at 10:24 pm |

I disagree with Priest Alberto. The choice of the path of religious life, as priest, is optional. The celibacy and chastity is part of this life.

My prayers are with her family and she is at peace now at least she can't get hurt like that again. They should also warn against internet dating sites and other unsafe targets for something like this .

@angel manners you have time to stalk people when you are bored.... a lot of these people are unemployed too. It's not just creepers now. People find someone and they get a fascination with a person and they get monomania.

I have read that the Catholic Church originally allowed
priest to get married, but the rules were changed sot the

Women are always being threatened and i would think the retraining order would help the stalkers to stay away .Is this any goood to get or is the law enforcement not willing to help in these cases?

Evening Anderson, Erica, everyone. 2500 firefighters, a five mile long fire expanding in two directions for some reason I'm catching the numbers more tonight. Glad to hear the onshore winds are blowing the fire back on areas its already burned. Hopefully that helps slow it down or keeping it from that brush and chapparal.

Yes sounds encouraging on the economy and that's good, banks handling stress, less jobs being lost, that's good. Hope if investors are making money then those funds can be put into companies that are ready to ramp up production.

Nice discussion with Ali Velshi and David Gergen.

Another bright star fell down from the sky by doing nothing wrong at all, just bright and shine. How sad. May she be in a better place than here and rest peacefully.

Stalkers are obviously not of sound mind. Trying to talk to them is a waste of breathThey have depraved minds and the best protection is letting the authorities know what is happening and taking whatever percautions necessary to insure your safety.

    @ David Gergen

There is a possibility the unemployment rate to reach two digits until the end of the year.

Isn’t the economy improving? Aren’t the projections positive for the second half? Why the unemployment rate does not follow that way?

David Letterman did that with one of his stalkers. He talked with her and tried to help her. I guess I'm too softhearted but I always thought that was kind of him.
