Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Monday said the State Department is working with both domestic and international agencies to combat swine flu.

She said the State Department is “urging caution” for Americans considering travel. “We have put up on our web site information urging caution for those who are planning to travel,” Clinton said at a photo-taking session at the State Department Monday morning. So far the State Department has not issued a specific travel warning for Mexico or elsewhere.

She said the State Department was coordinating “very closely” with other federal agencies including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Homeland Security. “We are taking this very seriously and working also with the World Health Organization … to try to develop a strategy to prevent the spread of this form of swine flu. We do believe that our efforts are developed and prepared to confront this wherever it might occur inside our own country. And enhanced cooperation across boundaries will be very important,” Clinton said.

And she said the U.S. had offered help and assistance to the government of Mexico to make sure they have the resources and the technical expertise they might need.

State Department Spokesman Gordon Duguid said:

“The State Department is prepared to issue a travel alert or warning regarding swine flu should the CDC advise us to do so. Department officials are in regular contact with CDC and other federal and international health officials who are monitoring the situation.”

This comes amidst reporting by other news organization that the State Department has or soon will issue a travel warning for Mexico.

Earlier Secretary Clinton said the State Department was urging caution for Americans considering travel.

Is this truly a Global Issue? Or is this a way to control us?

Limiting movement between countries will hurt our economy as well as the Worlds economic prosperity. We are already hurting.

Is this just a conspiracy? Could we be looking a Marshall Law?

Yes, we need further education to the masses about how to prevent spread of disease.

What we do not need is a huge influx of people into the already crowded Emergency Rooms of Hospitals!

We do need less visitation to hospitals from those who are not needed.

I'm just as concerned with illegals crossing over from Mexico carrying the virus as people who travel there and bringing the virus back. What is the government doing to do to address illegals bringing over the swine virus?
