Tonight on AC360°, we're tracking a stolen plane from Canada that's traveling across the Midwest. Authorities say two F-16 fighter jets are following the plane that's in the hands of a student pilot. The plane took off from Ontario around 2:30pm and has just 7 hours of fuel. That means during our program we should know how this all ends.

And, don't miss Erica Hill's webcast on the stolen plane and tonight's other headlines during the commercials. Watch our WEBCAST

Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

Don't worry Anderson. We don't think you're creepy most of the time.

Look, all these individuals who steal planes, fire opeanly at random people, etc are always characterized as "unhappy people". I just think it's interesting....I am unhappy sometimes and don't do nutty things like this. People can't control their emotions and then inflict harm on others, makes no sense!

    @ David

I hope that peace is near. Future generations do not deserve such a brutal world.

    @ Lisa

In Brazil there are these things so it is difficult to understand how nature is so angry.
But the pain and suffering of people, unfortunately, is understandable, but not tangible.

So I think if I could do anything, I would.

Nice reporting guys, but I think we all know that the plane stealer is in trouble. You don't have to keep repeating it. 😉

@casey- I don't see anything wrong with the First Family wanting to find a church. If they want to go to a church to, it's fine with me.

This nut hopefuly will not reflect on Turkey and its' potential membership to the EU.

Well, this guy being from Turkey certainly puts an interesting twist on this plane incident.

One "get-away" advantage that the pilot had was ..it's much easier for a Cessna to land on a remote dirt road than it is for an F16 in hot persuit. Apparently he still got caught though. Thank goodness for the ground troops.

It can't be just irony that this former Turkish citizen did this today, can it?

Oh gosh. This guy was born in Turkey. What bad timing when the President is trying to positively change people's perceptions.

C'mon guys, enough already with the heisted 172 story. Just because it's a plane there's no need to get breathless over it. Why doesn't anyone care if a truck gets stolen? We've seen that any vehicle packed with the wrong kind of cargo can be a lot more lethal than a 2500lb training aircraft when put into the wrong hands.
Aviation has taken enough shots to the chin lately without having to fan the flames of public ire about anything flying smaller than a B-737.

@Esma I totally think that getting inside a murderer's mind is very fascinating, yes there are creepy parts but it just exemplifies how different we are as humans and the way our brains respond to situations.

This could be test run. Just to record the F-16 reaction time. Then again it could nothing.

@Julie – Maine...I agree that giving attention to criminals (especially of this nature) makes this form of attention getting appealing to other potential criminals.

Wow - the letter from the shooter shows his "sick" mind - too bad those closest too him didn't recognize his problems and get him some help.

Isabel, I hope there a no more victims too, but damage to buildings is devastating. I was so glad to hear that young woman was rescued today, and to see the man they pulled from the wreckage. It was said well in Paula Newton's report, his sobs were the sound of a miracle.

Such shooting and unmanaged rage will continue until the truth about what causes mental illness is known. Mental rape can induce and cause many things: when one has the motive but not the intent: hypnotism can release those inhibitions and create the intent to coincide with the motive: and it is easy to manipulate an individual with other individuals to cause the creation of the motive. Creating motives for violence is just suggestion and mass manipulation, but requires the inclucative induction which comes as paranoid schizophrenia.

How many montreal massacres and nations which violate the sanctity of equality are needed until this becomes the ideal of truth.

The females involved are cursed and threatened with the same sufferings if they speak the truth, so the truth needs to come from somewhere else.

I listened to Presideny Obama's speech and it didn't sound at all apologetic. Perhaps those who think so could quote the words they found apologetic.

Admitting your mistakes is a sign of strength especially when everyone in the room knows what they are. Not to admit them and to go on doing the same things is a sign of weakness as Pres. Obama said often the campaign trail.

I fail to see why the Obamas' search for a church is particularly newsworthy. Brings to mind the heavy focus put on the White House companion animal. Maybe it's just me. 🙂

The Obama's can come to my church in Baltimore whenever they want. We can put the secret service in the balcony for them. Plenty of room...

Hi AC, AC360 casts and news chatters,

Could the pilot escape plan purport defamation? Clearly, he flew upnorth to Canada where he holds the citizenship..maybe he just wanna be home?

President Obama scored high marks on continuing sending a friendly signal to the Turks ( of which majority of them are muslims ) Consequensly, it's a warm, appeasing message to the muslim world.

Anderson, it's silly that a congregation would have to 'prove they are worthy'. In church everyone is equally worthy. He should pick the closest church of his denomination.

I always thought that old stone buildings in quake zones should have some kind of earthquake safety spots of sorts put in the rooms people live in – it could be like a super solid table made of some kind of reinforced steel that families could jump under during a quake to avoid falling rubble. It could help.

    Wow...70,000 people homeless...that is terrible. I can't even imagine...

Why do the Obamas HAVE to find a church? A church is simply a building and has little, if anything, to do with real faith.

What's disturbing is that there are many more people like this out there, look at the killings in Pittsburgh and the man who killed all his kids.

    @David Gergen,

I'm very glad they didn't shoot the guy down. I'm sure if he'd made any really scary moves, they would have.

When I was in Assisi a year after their earthquake, thousands of people were still living in temporary housing. I asked about those small wooden houses because the majority of homes in the Italian mountains are made of concrete or stone. Very, very wood used in homes.

    So very sad.

If the letter is authentic, the gunman was clearly mentally unstable....if that wasn't already obvious through his actions on Friday.

I actually also feel bad for his parents. Not only did they lose their son but they have to live with the fact that he was responsible for the deaths of so many innocent victims.

Come on guys, there are not any strong evindences that someone wanted to kill Mr. President in Turkey. That guy was arrested so before Obama landed to Ankara.
Please be aware that Turkey is not Afganistan or Iraq. We are talking about a secular democratic country that has strong ties with the West.
I dont understand why some people are full of prejudices.

Just read that the person just jumped over the fence and into the plane....keys are left in the planes because students are using them....from the Vancouver Sun paper.

I am shocked that the guy planed his shooting and actually set a date to do it. He did think it through before really did it. And take his anger of the policemen on innocent people, why??? Too bad no one catch it before it happened. It is chilly how he ended his letter and to think how many people can do that. Hope we can tell when someone has this kind of plan on mind. It would save a lot of people lifes.
