Tonight on AC360°, Anderson is reporting from El Paso, Texas along the border with Mexico where the drug war is fueling violence and mayhem. At least 800 people have been killed in Mexico this year alone. And, the danger is spilling here into the U.S. There's the threat of kidnappings here on U.S. soil. Mexico's drug cartels are on a bloody mission. Has the violence had you rethinking travel plans to Mexico? Sound off below on the war next door.

We should all express our joy at the Mexican president's willingness to take on the cartels. If this had been done years ago, perhaps the cartels wouldn't have been as powerful and could have been stopped without so much bloodshed.

    Wilson on militarizing borders.
We hardly have enough troops to fight in the middle east, how can we spare any for the drug war, then again it might be good training for troops before heading overseas. If anything send the marines !

It is a war; one that much of the U.S. has denied and those who have economic interests in Mexico have tried to whitewash, claiming this is all trumped up by the media. 30 years of traveling in Mexico has come to a sudden halt for me, at least driving across the border from Arizona.

Thanks Megan! We are working our tails off to get everyone sandbagged in time and then its up to the levees to hold up! But we're gonna keep fighting until there is nothing left to fight for! That's on of the best qualities of Mid-Westerners...we band together and we take care of our neighbors so that's what we are gonna do!

    Have a good night everyone!

@ Everybody who want to Legalize the drugs. PLEASE WRITE TO YOUR CONGRESS and request/Demand that they seriously consider legalization of drugs!

Many in congress will claim legaling drugs is a moral/ethical issue and that we should NOT do it. Make your arguments compelling...legal drugs would put a serious dent in the cartels' existence!

Once legal, the US could better monitor drug use, educate people, treat people and have an excellent source of TAX which we despartely need anyway to help us out of recession.

Good night Anderson & crew, please stay SAFE.

Good night fellow bloggers, any excellent discussion as always, have a good night and a great day tomorrow!

@Maren, I agree – I noticed the spike in gun shops during travels across the country, and now in my rural region...pawn shops too...coincidently drug crimes too

Some people think legalising marijuana will stop the violence– I don't... because of cocaine and meth demand

Thank you Anderson and CNN team for keeping us informed-becareful!

Legalize Drugs? Is this a joke?!

Unlike alcohol or tobacco beginning the use of Heroin or Cocaine the doses have to increase to continue to get the same type of high. The best high a user ever has is the First!

After that the addict has to increase dosage to get a similar high! How do you regulate the craving the brain has for a greater high!?

Before you follow this administrations intent to legalize drugs -- think! Do your homework.
