I recently had a long period of unemployment (due to redundancy), its not easy and it takes a great deal of strength to keep going and not give up.
I am now thankfully back in work again (and really appreciate my salary at the end of each month).
Its really easy to become depressed when you are applying for anything and everything and all you see get is rejection and set backs.
My only advise for what its worth is to accept help from family and friends, keep positive and be open about what you could do. It maybe a change of career is needed etc.
Times will and do get better.
why are we trying to bail out katrina victims [,who maybe didn't have, or do anything,] when we should bail out iga, who probably did do something? its the same taxpayers money?
R U kiddin' me .. AIG misappropriated billions but Washinton is looking at millions!!!
Hi, Leon - The guest that spoke about free consulting help for small businesses was David Colker from LA Times. He mentioned that colleges and universities will sometimes coordinate free services from business students, so that small business owners can benefit from their expertise and the students benefit from the real-world experience. You should contact the colleges and universities in your area that have business programs. Good luck! He also mentioned that the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Dept (HUD) provides free mortgage counseling services. So there is some free help out there!
I have a question---who resolves Dr. Phil's problems? And what is his last name--
I don't watch Dr. Phil's show. I have a job – which is good because I live in California and I have octuplets, and their psycho mother, to support. Dr. Phil knows all about it – she's his favorite guest!!
Once in awhile, I see a commercial for Dr.Phil's show. Some of the upcoming guests advertised are Octomom, the Kardashians, some other lunatics who cannot manage their own life so they turn to (who else?) a talking head on TV to solve their problems.
Certainly glad you have such a well-respected expert on your show to solve my problems. I guess his advice would be to have multiple children, who constantly argue with each other, and get my own TV show. Got it. Thanks Dr. Phil!
People are still worried about their saving which are held in banks. I'm not because we have ours in a credit union. You don't hear of any credit unions going under. Credit Unions are in the business of serving their member while banks and other financial institutions are in the business of serving their stock holders and executive.
Anderson...I greatly admire you and watch your show consistently; however, what's up with all the negative news....after watching your show last night, if I'm not ready to put a gun to my head–I might be today...let's get some positive news flowing for CNN! No wonder all my friends are TURNING oFF the TV! Yeah, we know it's bad–can we promote a bit of the positive!! People need to keep the faith–we need to uplift the consumer confidence....let's get the party started...please.....or I'll be turning you OFF too!
In your show with Dr. Phill last night, you talk about how to cope with the hard times. And you all so talk about how your naborhood colleges can help you with marketing and planning.
I'm a small buisness owner that could very much used these services that you and your guest spok of, like the colleges that helping people in California. I stay in the Atlanta area, could you give me some direction on where to start looking for this help.
This is a new prduct to the window insulation industry.
My patent is pending, do to the economy, my funds have run out.
I am really disappointed at CNN with this kind of alarmist and sensationalist program. This is not the show I expected to see CNN air. It is unfortunately CNN has become just another TV Station looking for a good emotional cry on bad times instead of delivering news and making rational analysis based of information and specialists. Really? Dr. Phill on CNN? What a shame!
AIG "has to" give bonuses to the geniuses who lead it to bankruptcy in order to retain them in its employ. Really? Exactly who would hire them away?
I'm a teacher, and everyone's talking about merit pay for us. Bonuses should only come with good performance, not miserable failure.
