At first glance, it looks like the real thing. It's white, with a brown filter. When the tip glows red, a smoke-like puff follows. But this is not a typical cigarette - it's an "e-cig." A what? An electronic cigarette.

Makers of e-cigs tout their product as the first healthy cigarette, free of harmful chemicals and tar typically found in tobacco products. The only ingredient: pure liquid nicotine. "Our product is comparable to the nicotine patch except people still get the oral fixation, which they love," explained Elicko Taieb, CEO of Smoking Everywhere, one of the largest distributors of electronic cigarettes.

An electronic cigarette.....what will they think of next? I don't smoke but tobacco smoke really bothers my allergies so the fact that the smoke is eliminated is good news for me. However, I would like to see more safety testing before this product gets "approved".....if science/technology can do an electronic cigarette what about an electronic beer or whiskey – one that gives you the pleasure of drinking without the alcoholic content that causes so many accidents. Having known several people who have been killed by drunk drivers this sort of product would be wonderful.

Everything (or almost everything) is valid to drop the habit of smoking.

But it will be difficult to convince me that something that have nicotine does not make evil for health!

I have seen these silly things in the mall kiosks. First thought how stupid. So because they aren't real cigarettes people are allowed to smoke them inside buildings? I hope this wanna be trend doesn't catch on.

There are inhalers with nicotine capsules that don't apply heat or create vapor but is there really much difference? Tell me where I can pick one up – I'm near Toronto... – anyone? Love the concept!
Maybe they should pass them out to the G20 dignitaries who apparently believe they shouldn't have to honor non-smoking legislation in Great Britain!

Sounds like the jury is still out but if it works ? World Health Organization is doing clinical studies and toxicity studies. FDA says it's an unapproved new drug and Elicko Taieb says they are not sure what the side effects are yet but haven't heard of any yet ? The US Food and Drug Administration is trying to halt the import of electronic cigarettes. Don't want to bum one yet ! Potentially lethal to children and can kill them ? Just a few reasons why, we may want to check this out before it's imported into the US ! What's the tax on that cigarette ?
