Tonight on AC360°, recession news flash: the rich are getting poorer. Just hours ago, Forbes magazine published its 2009 list of the world’s top billionaires. The take-away: there are fewer of them, and their fortunes are shrinking. It’s not a story that will generate much sympathy. We get that. But it’s still an interesting look at the recession’s reach. We’ll tell you who has lost the most and who has fallen the furthest. Tonight we want to keep the live blog on this one topic. So, please share your thoughts with us.

And, don't miss Erica Hill's webcast on billionaires during the commercials. Watch our WEBCAST

Want to know what else we're covering tonight? Read EVENING BUZZ

Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")

2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)

3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)

4) No links

5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

And take a look at our live web camera from the 360° studio. Watch the WEBCAM

Deer in a store? Interesting. I'm thinking roast and sausage personally, not sauced from booze.

    Hi Anderson,

In regards to the signing of the spending bill today, is it true that there was a signing deadline of midnight tonight and if the President had not signed it, the government would have shut down, and no other business could have been conducted until it was resolved?

So many things to talk about tonight. I feel the healthcare discussion is very hopeful, good to think of how openning access to healthcare will be worked out.

Deer can destroy automobiles when run into, so imagine how powerful they are and how scary that would be if you were in that store with them running around.

    Thanks 360 (and bloggers)!

Erica, The rich can afford to be "charitable." In my opinion the people who are really charitble are those who give, but cannot really afford it, not the ones who give and write it off on their taxes.

    Hey Anderson,

I also played the world's smallest violin for all those wealthy "losers" when I saw the story on an earlier CNN news show. Had to explain it to my teenage daughter; she still didn't get it (made me feel old and un-hip). ~ L.C.

For anyone who says they don't feel sorry, don't they deserve the money they make no matter how much it is? Some work has to have been done to get there.

I luv dear and as a vegetarian I feel for them
all their land is being taken by builders but I am not against hunting so long as babies or mothers are not hurt and if it is for food NOT for sport
some people feel sorry for them and so do I but they suffer alot less than animals in the supermarket who lived & suffered their entire lives in "factory farms"...
excuse my hippie rant just felt like sharing my opinion

The list of the wealthy does not impress me at all. Where is the list of the poor? Better yet the middle class? I think it has become two. The rich and the poor. Everyone complains about the little piece meal Pres. Obama is giving out to Americans? Makes me laugh at what has been spent since Dec. 2007 until now! Try 11.6 trillion. I have the list of where it has gone and what has been spent. There is a difference. I would like to know where that difference is!

Thank you for playing that teeny tiny violin... it is hard to feel bad for those people when it is nearly impossible for a recent grad such as myself to find a job! Know anyone looking for a fabulous publicist??

"I thought I read today that a Mexican drug cartel guy just made it to the Forbe’s List of Billionaires…..believable but unbelievable!"

I bet he is a big supporter of the "War on Drugs" the longer we continue to implement a failed prohibition the more people like this like it.

    Legalize it, Tax It.

I have a hard time feeling bad for the billionaires turned millionaires by this recession! But it is interesting to find that nobody seems to be immune!

The poor and middle class have ALWAYS been the ones to feel the pinch when we are in a recession .So now ,the 'pain' is trickling up.I think that when the middle class does well WE ALL do well.I feel most sorry for the charities that have lost their benefactors due to the recession, and the people those charities helped

We will survive and move on like we always have. Imagine what a similar list would have read like at the start of the great depression, and this isn't even as bad.

I don't know if it's reassuring to see the richest people in the world losing their money such as Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, but it does give you hope to see people such as Bloomberg, Oprah, etc. thriving. I think we will pull out of this, but this information in a strange way give comfort that we're all in this together (worldwide even).
