My question is why are so many balking and screaming about the trillion dollars being spent to revive this country, but they nor the media said anything when Bush was accruing a much higher debt for an illegal war?

The mayor of Los Alamitos must've been taking his cues about racism from Sean Delonas of the New York Times – it's amazing how someone would try to claim they aren't being racist when they clearly are.

    Hey Anderson,

It is shameful that we are building schools in Iraq, while our own are falling apart. Intead of building Iraq, we should use our troops to work on building our own country.

    Hey Anderson,

I didn't know of any correlation between water melons and racial slurs. Although I am Canadian, I lived in South Carolina for 5 years and don't understand the relation.

What was the significance of the watermelons if he didn't know the racial stereotype associated with them? Coincidence?

There is more than one cartel! There are at least 4 known cartels. For goodness sakes the Juarez mayor's family was moved to the US side and there was an attempt on the Governor of Chihuahua's life.

I'm glad to see President Obama focusing so much on education. Our young people definitely deserve the best...if we want to be the best we have to educate the best!

No idea? That is unbelievable! How can you not know that there is some sort of racial undertone to that photo? That is ridiculous! It seems a lot of people are having to do damage control after a lack of common sense causes them to send out media like that.

Every time you are on Live, Anderson, you end up being the butt of the joke for the shot on 360! Why is that?

    that report is very concerning
students have to fight hunger and poverty at home. disunctional family life, temptation from drugs all to come to school and try to concentrate in a building that is unsafe to be in let alone try to learn in

as far as the watermellons on the front lawn- what a loser it's hard to believe such ignorance exists is acceptable by so many...

School conditions are deplorable. Just a few years ago when I was in hs, they were going to shut down my school, but we fought to keep it open. Even still, our lockers were breaking, our bathrooms were usually shut because they were so broken down. At the time I was used to it, but now that I'm in college and see how schools are really supposed to look it breaks my heart. I hope President Obama is able to make some real changes.

I was thinking about going to Juarez for some dental work, but my ex-boyfriend said absolutely not. I had no idea things were that bad there. Pretty terrifying.

Octomom in a porno? Geez, no way! That's sort of disgusting.

I find so many of this racist cartoons pretty disgusting – do these people have no brains? Cripes.

Yes! Schools definately need a bailout. Huge rally March 4th in Arizona at capital. We can't afford the proposed $470million-$1.4 billion in cuts next school year. We're losing teachers, huge class sizes, no money for supplies etc. Someone please help.

Watching the deplorable conditions of our Nation's public schools, you can understand why it is so difficult for children to learn in such an environment. Education funding is the heartbeat of America. How could we treat our children so poorly–what message do we send them.

Ok Jo Ann, but Obama did not promise something just to get elected, he's actually following through on the promise. It's just that the time line had to be adjusted. Come on, that's pretty close.

Does obama know that the people he's raising taxes on already pay over 70 percent of taxes in the u.s? And now he's limiting tax deductions as well. Double wammy.

Not fair and makes it literally and figuratively not pay to work hard and make it your own.

    Welcome to robin hood country

WOW. If the mayor is going to come up with an excuse for that moronic e-mail, he could have at least come up with one that doesn't insult the American people. The mayor is an idiot.

All I can say is Have Mercy, kids having to go to schools in conditions like that, I had tears in my eyes. How could anyone not want better for any kids. It is desparte times Randy and God help us and anyone who refuses to think this is a waste of time.

And that guys is right what are those people doing making excuses about not being able to spend time with their kids. Whoever that Black Woman and Man was who acted like its not possible for regular hard working people not being able to spend time with their kids is ridicoulous. Thats what wrong in the Black Community today(and I am Black), The President runs circles around most working folks and he still has time to be with his kids. I work a Full Time Job, went back to school and carried 16units and I had time with my kids, people who don't spend time with them and use I work to hard is using it as an excuse.

@Emma, there are trailers and there are trailers, this school also had students taking class outside, so I'm sure the trailers were productive to the student getting a proper education.

@Cindy: Just because schools have always done it doesn't make it right. It's a symptom of major overcrowding.

I am not sure on the numbers but I would bet that better than 70% of our students would do just as well if not better with virtiual High School online. Its the other 30% that need the help!
