The F-22 is essential to our nations air dominance. It WOULD create more jobs. If you look at our nations history, coming out of the Great Depression had a lot to do with jobs being created and this recession is no different. Build More.

The best weapons never have to be fired. You cannot accurately predict the threats that could exist 10 or 15 years from now which may have us begging the questions, "Why did we ONLY buy 183 F-22 Raptors? We need more since the F-15C (former air superiority fighter) was retired long ago?" If you ask me, it's a win/win. More jobs AND better national security.
P.S. I may be biased as I'm an F-15C Pilot.

Sinse we're broke maybe we can sell f-22, like Russia sold arms in the 90s? Seems arms are about the only thing we make anymore.

Why is there so much uproar when there is talk about cut in F22 fighter planes and there no much talk when the upgrade of schools and educational system, which is the future of USA

In regards to your F-22 story – We need to rebuild our military since alot of equipment is either destroyed from Iraq and/or Afghanistan, or in the case of fighter jets and naval ships, we need to modernize those aspects of the military as they are 20+ years old and like everything else, they cost money to build. What you should be talking about is the procurement system and how screwed up it is and that's where the cost overruns come from.

Some of those earmarks may create jobs. But how many are tax breaks for companies and programs that are not?

Hey did say, A bill free of earmarks.

I am so tired of hearing people who twice elected Bush try to tear down Obama 30 days into it.

We had racoons at our house. I feel important knowing that they also visited the white house. They are cute, but they can sure do some damage to the wiring in the attic. If they screwed up the red phone system we might have a crisis.

So we are going to get rid of jobs [Raptor production] to save money? Aren't we trying to keep people working? What broken rubber band engine is running in our politicians. Keep the production line moving.

Pathetic is good word. How about manipulative or disingenuous? I hope they at least brought some educational reading material while we employ them to sit and wait for a photo op to further schmooze us with.

Awesome graphics! Anderson is a little violent towards the raccoons this evening...can I safely say he is not a member of PETA?

$150,000 per speech... international speeches at that.... we couldn't get Bush to visit other countries dduring the term of office.... let the man go where the clouds are not cloudy all day.

People that are not looking at what they do to our elderly better be ready when you grow old. Guess what if you think that it is bad now what until 20 more years from now. The patient that I am working on now will have a % given to nursing homes. So you bet ya I stand up for the elderly because no one seems to care. Go to a nursing home and see what is happening you will leave crying.

We may not be fighting Russia or China now, but if we have too, the current F-16 won't hack it, and there won't be time to build more F-22's The jobs work out to $100,000 per job created using your figures. The stimulus costs $250,000 per job created. Sounds like fighters are much cheaper than stimulus.

Why are some assuming the congressman didn't work while he was waiting to see the president? With pdas and laptops most people can do their job anywhere anytime. I have spent hours working while waiting for a plane, it's really easy.

If that raccoon is where Dick Cheney is, it's probably dead.

    February 25, 2009 at 10:35 pm |

Funny how these guys spent 12.5 hours waiting for the President. I read about all the Governors having a big bash with music and the President is going on Spring Break. I am thinking we are in 2 wars and selling ourselves to the Chinese and in the middle of an economic tsunami and they are going on Spring Break.

Tough I think we should have a few F22 Raptors but again we aren't fighting Russia or China and if we do Jets wont matter it would be the response time of our Nuclear Deterrent arsenal and the effectiveness of our ballistic defense shield....

I am a mountain boy from eastern kentucky and I was hoping you could ask some of your smart economist just how the economy could possibly improve, when you can not buy an American made product in retail stores. Also if you have a list of companies saling American products? Would gladly pay more for them. Love your show, keep them real.

The U.S. Military spends a lot of money, and 9% of our GDP is spent on the military. If the US military wants the jets so badly, can't they cut back in other places?

How about raffling off those seats to get pictured with the president then donate the proceeds to a charity.

Anderson...right on with your comments about those congressmen sitting around for 9 plus hours waiting to shake the President's hand. What a joke! Imagine what they could have accomplished if they were in there offices working and being productive. Makes me furious!

Are you kidding me? "Pathetic" was the perfect word to describe that congressman who seems to think none of us should have a problem with the fact that we're paying his salary-not to sit around for hours doing nothing–but to actually get some work done. What a concept! He should be embarrased, & he should not be re-elected, because he obviously doesn't realize that he's there to do a job. My boss wouldn't put up with me stealing from the time clock that way, & I don't think his boss(es)–the American People–want to put up with it either.

    Hey Anderson,

Advice for the Obama girls: wait & their puppy's name will come to them by his/her personality. You gotta get to know the pup first. Tried a bunch out on mine 'til one fit him just right. But whoever walks & feeds him will be his "person," so be that person, & give him lots of love & attention!
