You're absolutely right, Anderson. It is quite pathetic and disgusting that our elected officials and public servants have nothing better to do than to sit around for hours and hours just trying to get face time on TV. And that's what they pay themselves how much for???

"No one is worth that kind of time!"

Except maybe Cher or Bette Midler. (Can anyone guess how old I am?)

Hi there, That was great Anderson, good job telling them like it is! Hey, Stevie Wonder was on earlier today with Krya. He's such a great performer, one of the best!

I suspect the tax cuts are going to come back and bite the hand of the consumer and I would not be surprised if taxes eventually rise.

Dear Anderson, we think "pathetic" was a mild way to describe what the congressman did.

As for you being jaded??hardly, but i fell disillusioned.

Interesting panel tonight. I believe that President Obama is good at multitasking - he can work on the economy and other reforms at the same time. I for one am glad that he's ambitious.

Last night he stood right in front of the American people and said there was no ear marks in the last bill. Also there will be no ear marks in this next bill. This is the first time that I have watched a president stand and say such a blatant lie to the country. So sad ..I am so disappointed in the man that I voted for.

News flash people - a large part of the deficit created by the Bush administration was caused by the Iraq war ... while that war is winding down, we are now ramping up the Afghan war - which has no end in sight ! I can only imagine how much money that war will cost and how much it will increase the already hundreds of billions of dollars spent by the Obama administration !

Besides the shmoozing.... who were the main crowds getting Obama's autograph....Jaded... choosing to spend time... for a day... for an historically significant moment.... I'm sure media personal just put up with hour after hour of waiting and positioning themselves... because it comes with the job. GMAB

Anderson, I completely understood what you were saying yesterday evening and I think you handled that gentleman's immature response very elegantly. You're right; we should know how they are choosing to spend their time and I don't think you're jaded at all for wondering why that gentleman had 12.5 hours free on a business day to sit around and wait for the president to show up so he could get on camera shaking his hand.

That is completely ridiculous...is this really what we are paying our congress-people for? I agree Anderson it is pathetic! There are so many better ways they can be spending their time! Warming a bench for 12 and 1/2 hours is ridiculous!!!!!

Anderson Cooper, we want to fix the country, so as Americans can’t we stop the nasty, backbiting and the GOP come up with some answers and not just comments. Good Americans are dying, losing their homes, jobs and worst of all their lifestyles and all the GOP’s who created this mess is more of the same.
The amount of money thrown away to the filthy rich is over the top. Let the President have a chance at correcting this mess. The GOP is the fox watching the hen house. We want the pork cut from both parties.
In the name of freedom of speech name the party and persons sneaking in the pork and go after them weather they are GOP or DNC.

Anderson, I agreed with your comment yesterday. It's making the president look more like a rock star than a world leader!

If President Obama does not veto the ear mark laden $410 billion budget bill and send it back to Congress, then all he has said about change, transparency and truth in government will be shown to be nothing but lies from yet another business as usual politician.

Anderson, I completely agree with you it is beyond Pathetic that our elected officials spent OUR money sitting and waiting to just shake hands with the President!

You Were Right they are Pathetic!

    David from Indiana....

If the cut prescriptions and the companies did not have commercials on the telly, I suspect a lot of money could be saved. It amazes me how much is spent on commercials.

Some of that money could be used to help the underprivileged and lower income with their medications

Anderson, I can't believe you didn't know the Congress members waited for aisle seats. They did it for Bush too (though not the same members, obviously).

I would imagine that all the people including Anderson have health care as do the Republican Congress people. I would accept their criticisms if they would out and out say they will give up their health care!!

  39. Ebony

Excessive spending? This is coming from the same party whose nominee wore $520 shoes and doesn't know how many houses he owns. If the GOP would like to volunteer a donation of their $8 mil earmark, I’m totally for it. The reality is the GOP does want government spending. Unfortunately, it’s on increasing the wealth of the rich and fighting an unjust war.

    February 25, 2009 at 10:21 pm |
  40. Christi from New Jersey

They should design the program geographically. $170K is not wealthy in a state like New Jersey if the other spouse stays at home while it may be considered wealthy in other parts of the country.

CaseyJ – Palm Springs, CA February 25th, 2009 10:14 pm ET
@Mike in Syracuse…The Bush administration added more to the deficit than all of the previous administrations combined, in JUST EIGHT YEARS.

Actually no. They didn't double the debt, but close. However, projections for Obama starting at $1.3 trillion this year alone , are on a pace to add as much debt in 4 years as Bush in 8.
