Anderson, I have to agree...I would totally name my dog Moose! We let my little brother pick out the name for our dog so we ended up with a Snickers!

F-22. No, cut the spending. Spent over 20yrs in the Air Force and
the last future genertion Fighters (F15/F16) lasted a little over 20ys
from the 80;s to 2000. They were worn out in training and never faced
any major conflict/war. They were/are sold to Saudia Araba and Israel.
These future generation fighters are only star war toys for the rich boys.

I wish I were a Senator. Then I could get paid to sit around and watch history, meet President Obama, and get on television. If I got sick, I'd have a great health care package, enough money to easily pay all my bills, get flown to and from my home city, and retire well with plenty of money and a paid health care package. Anyone want to elect me?

Heh, I just thought of a name of the new presidential dog. How about "Bushy". After all he would have his own house in the white house better know as the dog house. Or is it outside the white hours.

I love that Michelle is very involved in her girls life, spends time with her husband and obviously makes time for herself, she definitely works out. She's definitely very classy and has the body to wear the sleeveless, fitting dresses.

I wanna know, how do congressmembers many who know very little about combat, can be so sure we need more F-22s when we have about 190 so far, and no practical use for them for the foreseeable future. The closest was last year when russia invaded that eastern europe country...forgot its name. And that went nowhere for us.
Why wouldnt they always be working on really high tech new hardware for our military? Why isnt there a new mach speed attack and support helicopter with silence mode and all weather sensors, thats good enough to win a battle field against ground, sea and air forces?
Why dont we yet have better body protection combat suits for our troops for all temp, all weather, all conditions, thats bullet and shrapnel proof and lightweight?

Michelle Obama always looks fantastic. Nothing wrong with commenting on that, Minou. For the record, I like the president's white tie. 🙂

Jay, it's always nice to hear opinions on military spending from military members, so thank you for that.

Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennett are two of my favorites.

Regarding the comment about the congressman waiting for hours when there are more important things to do, interesting that the follow up was how we were going to have to stay tuned to find out more on the dog search for the Obama’s.

I knew the calls to cut defense spending would start as soon as Obama got elected. Dems have always been weak on defense. The reason we need more troops now is that Clinton cut the military by 40%.

    Greetings Anderson,

Fuzzy? (Itchy and Scratchy are taken, darn!) Rhino? (my cat's name, but it works for dogs). Modem? Silly but modern and easy to call. Oscar works for nearly everyone. Sylvia can be shortened to "silly", also easy to call. If you can't shout the name of your dog at full volume without embarassment – it's the wrong name.

When I first watched about the F-22 story, at first I understood the frustration over expense, and how critics said the F-15 and F-16's were good enough. It may be true now, and we are also facing Al Qaeda now. However, we are talking about something that is replacing 20 year old aircraft. Don't forget the reports from CNN and other news organizations about the F-15 that disintegrated in midflight. The reports later stated that it was due to fatigue, i.e. the planes had been worn out. How long will it take before the expense to maintain an old aircraft far outpays the expense to build a new one.

Along with this issue, don't forget that Russia, China, GB, France and many other countries continue to build better and newer technologies which are meant to counter we have. Should we just wait for them to catch up before we design a better weapon? Remember that these countries will eventually supply a future enemy, should we not be prepared?

These aircraft will be the last ones to be built for decades to come. That was the contract made when the F-22 and YF-23 competed and this is why Mcdonnell Douglas went to Boeing when they lost the contract. Robert Gates stated a limit already, but eventually things will change when we will need more. I believe that we fulfill the quota at least until a time in which our budget and defense require more, but don't cancel the program.

Also, I think CNN's reporting of the F-22's combat status is notentirely honest to the situation. I visited those plants 2 years ago when I was going to Georgia Tech. They said the first squadron wouldn't be operational until right about now, and they would be flying CAP (combat air patrol) missions around our capital at first until more could be produced. They also stated that they were testing procedures for the most efficient way to mass produce the aircraft. They me just be starting the mass production phase now so, it would be no wonder that they have not been in combat.

Good evening Anderson, my concerns are on the F-22 Raptor, I believe that the Raptor should stay in production, due to the fact that first of all if we stop production thousands of people might and will loose their jobs, and even though this country is not in war, we have to be prepared. Now we all know that air dominance has been a very powerful asset, and with the F-22 this country will continue to have air dominance.

I all seriousness, I hope that congressman's comments did not bother you. Just because someone says something about you doesn't mean it's true spoke or in print. Let it go. People who like you don't care. Whatever.

Moose is a great great name for a small dog. Matched by chipmunk for a large one.

    Anderson Cooper,

Lets just take away are intire millitary. The Military is the backbone of amercian security and jobs. Take away the raptor, and the dominos will continue to fall. With radical Islam threats on the rise, our national security is threatened.

You are right Mike!! all these big companies are getting so much bailout money and not even care for our security. So why not invest in our own defense.

Loved FLOTUS dress last night. Purple is a good color on her. Let her bare all the arms she wants. My suggestions for a dog name would be Desi or Lucy( I love I Love Lucy) Chazz, Bella, Cocoa, Lyndon Delano( named after 2 of my favorite presidents) Nefertiti, or Lincoln Gregory(People might think President Obama is taking the whole Lincoln thing too far)

If you want to keep other countries respecting the USA, then you will need to produce the required number of F-22 Raptors the Air Force requires.

  44. Mark

We need the F22 simply because it will keep us well ahead of everyone else and other pilots fear it. It's hard enough to fight unconventional war, I fear the day when an enemy could stand up to us in conventional combat.

I agree. I love the name of Moose for a dog, since my bichon frise/shih tzu mix is named that.

The F-22 is one of the only hopes left for jobs in FL. No Space program and now no F-22. I'm sure we can produce the F-22s fast when we all are healthy but don't have adequate defense.

"Moose." Very nice. Sounds like something I would name a dog, if only all my pets weren't named after Harry Potter characters. Would kinda kill the theme.
