OK, so the DTV transition hasn't been perfect.

While the early analog-cutoff of 421 TV stations on Feb. 17 has gone relative smoothly according to most reports, that was not the case of at least one Missouri man, according to KARE-TV Minneapolis-ST. Paul.

The station reports that a 70-year-old Joplin man was arrested and charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm after shooting his TV set. Responding to a report of shots being fired, the station reported, the police found the man angry that he had both lost his cable and had been unable to get his new DTV converter box to work.

Why do you think there are people in America that are so concerned about their right to bear arms? How else could one solve a problem of a technological change that is not understood?

You've got to be kidding me...
It is amazing how parts of the US aren't as knowledgeable for things this easy. There have been commercials and brochures sent out by cable companies.

I'm sure everyone has thought of shooting a TV at some point in their lives. I know I have, even though I haven't fired a weapon since I was in the army. Come to think of it, I haven't owned one since I lived in Indiana many years ago, which is kind of a Confederate state that got moved up to the North somehow..

I don't think we have seen the last of something like this. It has only been 4 days, and we have had an incident like this? The government ran out of coupons, many people were very confused over the transition, and stations have swithched even though the country by and large wasn't supposedly ready. Guess we have to wait and see. I am certainly glad I live in the city and have Comcast.
