Good evening and welcome to the AC360 Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, Jack Nicholson’s sunglasses…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
And even if you’re not watching them, because of your feud with Kate Winslet or whatever, we think you’ll still enjoy the live blog. I’ll be with you from 8:00pm Eastern Time until the Oscars finish airing here in New York.

Penelope really appreciated that award
@ Anderson, I was just thinking the same thing, I like how they are making it more personal but also thought this is going to last forever! They could have just given out 3 awards in the time they took for one
Ashley, The Godfather is more than just great lines, it's a saga about the love of a father for his son, it's about the raw intense life of a mafia world. It's about the betrayal, deceit, disappointment. Relationships between a husband and wife, relationships between a father and his sons, relationships between friends and enemies. Yes you might look at the movie and say it's a typical mafia film, but it's more.
Hugh Jackman is sexy and very talented. The opening was GREAT!

Penelope Cruz's win might be the biggest upset. I hear that woman from Benjamin Button had it in the bag. So much for that.
If Slumdog Millionare doesn't win, that'll def. be the biggest upset.
No, Anderson, its not just you! I usually am not an Oscar watcher but I thought since Jack was blogging tonight I'd give it a go but I'm not really all that into it so far.
That Best Supporting Actress presentation was WAY TOO LONG. It was like a group therapy combined with a sorority induction.
@anderson: Yes, the show's been on for 20 minutes and we only now get the first winner. This could last forever. We'll still be blogging this thing when you go on the air tomorrow.
@Anderson – Yeah, a bit dull. I actually just saw the VC Barcelona recently at the urging of a store clerk. It was incredibly interesting, quite a bit more depth than I expected. I'm glad Penelope won.
No it's allways slow Anderson the catogories take forever.The theater does look different more grouped together according to the flims.
